Kapitel 59: Chapter 057
'What is going on...?'
Arthur thought as he saw the whole space getting filled with dark, weary smoke. It was hard for him to see in the smoke and he couldn't tell where it was coming from.
He was taken in by the surprise attack and tried his best to calm himself down.
"Cough, cough... Murkrow, blow up the... cough..."
Although Arthur tried to command Murkrow, he wasn't able to speak properly due to the smoke and it was even hard to make out the location of Murkrow.
At the same time, Zubats who were also confused by the smoke started flying out of the cave. They didn't know what was happening, but they didn't want to stay here any longer.
Using supersonic, they found the exit of the cave and fled in hordes. Some of the Zubats also didn't forget to pick up the injured Golbat on the ground.
Although he had lost, he was still their boss. They still had loyalty for him and they didn't forget to show it.
In just a matter of seconds, every single Zubat fled the cave, leaving only the confused Arthur, Charmander and Murkrow.
'Someone had done it deliberately... I will die if I don't do anything.'
Arthur thought in his heart as his gut feeling was warning him of an incoming danger. He was pretty sure that it was not a wild Pokemon that had attacked him.
It can only be a trainer or a group of trainers.
He had not seen any trainers around this area of Mount moon, but it seems like some people were following his trails.
But Arthur can't find that out in between the smoke. He can only see the silhouette of Charmander beside him, but there were no signs of Murkrow.
If it was a group of trainers that had attacked him, then he was pretty sure that an attack would come at him at any moment.
That's why he acted swiftly.
'I will show you the consequences of ambushing me.'
Thinking that, he took out a cloth from his pocket and used it to cover his face.
Smokescreen can have poison properties depending on the Pokemon that has released it. He knew it, so he protected himself first.
The poison property won't be very lethal to his Pokemon, but it can surely make him lose consciousness. He was already feeling like his eyelids were getting heavy.
The cloth protected him somewhat and he quickly brought out the pokeballs from his pockets.
'Let's see how they will deal with my full power!'
He thought and released Scyther and Mankey from his pokeball.
"Scythe!"
"Mankk!"
They both came out with a cry, but they soon became confused as the smoke entered their nose. They didn't know what was going on, but it was certainly not a good situation.
"Scyther, cough, blow up the wind, cough... Mankey, Charmander, prepare for an incoming attack. Pay attention in every direction."
Arthur somehow managed to get out an order in between coughing and his Pokemon started following it straightaway.
Scyther rarely used his wings, so he didn't have as much power as Murkrow's wings, but it was still good enough to blow up the smoke surrounding them, little by little.
But as Scyther starred flapping his wings, a light suddenly flew from afar.
Swishhhh!
Arthur instinctively turned towards the light and his mind instantly became blanked. It was a small, pointy rock that was flying straight for his face.
It wasn't much lethal compared to other attacks, but Arthur was a human and face was a very delicate part of a human body.
'There's no way to dodge it!'
His brain was telling him that. It was a direct attack that he had no way of dodging.
In an instant, the pointed rock came close to Arthur and when it was just an inch away from his face, someone caught it in his hand, saving Arthur's face.
"Mankk!"
It was Mankey who had caught the stone in his hand.
"... I barely survived."
Arthur took a step back and fell on his knees. His legs had collapsed from the sudden fear and felt numb. It was the first time he was so close to death and it took a few seconds for him to take it in.
'Calm down. I can't take a break here. If I do, then more attacks will come.'
He reminded himself in his mind, but although his mind was still working patiently, his body was completely opposite.
"Charr!"
It was Charmander who woke him up from his trance.
Charmander pointed his sharp claws at the spot where the earlier attack had come from. There were more flashes in that area and, noticing that, Arthur's mind gave out orders almost instinctively.
"Charmander, use dragon tail to counter. Mankey, use bulk up and Karate chop to block all the attacks that come at us."
Hearing Arthur, both the Pokemon immediately got ready to block.
They still can't fight head on cause there was still a lot of smoke around them. The only thing they could do was to block.
In the next few seconds, many attacks flew at them, but they were all blocked by Charmander and Mankey.
The power on those attacks were considerable, but Mankey and Charmander didn't have much problems dealing with them.
Arthur told them to focus on the flashes before the attack to find their trajectory and it wasn't much to handle after that.
At the same time, Arthur was analysing the attacks that were flying at them.
'Rock, poison, grass...'
They were mostly common types and Arthur was sure that whoever had ambushed him didn't have any rare Pokemon. Maybe the attackers were after his Pokemon?
Soon, after a while, the smoke finally dissipated and Arthur was able to see who exactly had attacked him and he was shocked.
"What is Team Rocket doing here??"
He was easily able to recognise the uniform that the three people in front of him were wearing and it was not just that.
On the corner, Murkrow was lying.
He looked badly injured and Arthur didn't have to guess who had done that.
