Kapitel 85: Run It’s Not Always Bad

"Stop that!" The same person yelled again.

Jason stopped his attack, and Malcom sliding down the wall, fell to the ground.

An adult woman arrived.

"But what happened to you, Jason?" She asked while looking at him reproachfully before she continued, "This young man is a Marked! He is defenseless, completely useless in situations like this. You can't use your superiority to mistreat him like that. What's wrong with you? Can't you understand that he is very weak?"

Jason laughed and, looking at Malcom, smiled as he said, "Sorry, weakling! It was not my intention to hurt you too much! Remember that we are not at the same level next time!"

And with those words, Jason withdrew. The teacher looked at Malcom's state. He was awake but very mistreated, a trip to the infirmary was required, but none of the students seemed to want to help.

"I'll take him, Miss Evelyn!" Someone suddenly volunteered.

The teacher turned to see who was offering assistance when she looked at the young woman singing when she saw her.

"Nora! Honey, thank you very much! It is good that you are together! After all, he is one of your kind!" The smiling woman said before she dispelled the crowd.

Malcom, used all of his energy, when he got up.

"Are you ok?" He asked while looking at Nora.

She smiled tenderly. Only that smile was worth the beating, but their gaze was devastated.

Suddenly she passed the Marked arm around his shoulder as she asked, "What is your name?"

"My name is Malcom," The pained boy answered.

"I am Nora! Thank you for standing up for me… You can take your beating pretty well! But you shouldn't do that for me! Sorry!"

"These blows are nothing!" Malcom said bitterly, "Is Evelyn's words what will bug me for a long time!"

Nora snorted, and looking at Malcom, she said, "Yes, those of our kind are the only ones who would understand that!"

And with those words, they began the trip to the infirmary.

Nora helped Malcom to get to the infirmary, the boy was not complaining of pain, but clearly, his injuries were quite severe.

The help the teacher had given was minimal, and Jason had given Malcom a real beating, but he didn't seem to be bothered by the way they acted. Instead, he seemed to be annoyed at not being able to defend himself.

When they reached the door of the infirmary, the girl opened it instantly without knocking, and inside, a huge black man with clear muscles and very tall looked at them.

The man got up when he saw them and when he saw Malcom's condition.

"Really! You can't go a day without coming here all beat up!" The man said.

Nora looked at him with confusion, and Malcom, snorting, felt how that man lifted him without difficulty and placed his body on a stretcher.

"Who is he fighting with now?" The doctor asked while looking at the girl.

The girl saw him without knowing what to answer, that doctor's gaze was very direct, and that puzzled her.

He approached and touched the forehead of the girl with his index finger as he asked, "Wake up, little one! What happened?"

"What does that matter Zeq? You just have to heal me!"

"First, it's Ezequiel! And do you really think my only damn job is to heal your wounds? Stop fighting. That's the solution, you stupid brat!" The man said while looking at Malcom with anger.

Despite his words, Nora didn't notice the slightest hint of hostility on his face when he was talking to Malcom. In fact, there were hints of concern and worry hidden within his anger.

"And now why did you fight? Did someone call you Marked again?" He said to Malcom first before his gaze shifted towards Nora. He then said unhappily, "This kid is very sensitive to the subject!"

Nora, not knowing why she nodded again. When she finally realized what she agreed on, Nora hurriedly said, "Mister! He fought because of me!"

Ezequiel stopped when he took a red potion and looked at the young girl with determination, his muscles could be noticed above his clothes, and his black skin made his frame seem even larger. Still, despite how intimidating his eyes were, they showed clear kindness.

"What do you mean, honey?" Ezequiel asked curiously while staring at Nora.

She took a deep breath before she explained, "Jason was bothering me! He's just trying to defend me!"

Ezequiel looked at her for a long minute, and then he looked at Malcom, and with a dry smile, he said, "Key word, tried. But he clearly didn't do a good job."

Malcom let out a huff that caused him pain. Despite that, he still asked full of sarcasm, "What the hell are you talking about? Do you see her injured? It was a good job!"

Ezequiel put his finger on Malcom's rib and pushed it that caused for Malcom to let out a scream of pain.

"Nothing that causes that cry is a victory, moron! But I respect that you defend the weak. The problem is that you are weak as well!" Ezequiel said while smiling.

Nora noticed a strange brotherhood between the two of them, and, relaxing her posture, she decided to prepare to leave.

Ezequiel looked at her and said with a smile, "You don't have to go. You can stay a while."

She looked at him, her smile was very quality, and she nodded. She looked at Malcom, who was looking in the direction of a window and smiling. She shook her head as she said, "Thanks, but I have classes."

Ezequiel nodded and, hitting Malcom with his elbow, who made a groan of pain. While looking at the young woman and then asked, "Malcom, you have nothing to say?"

Malcom looked at him with wide eyes, and then looking at Nora, he said, "I'm glad you're fine! Stay away from Jason, and he's an idiot!"

She smiled, lighting up the entire room, and calmly she said, "I will do that. I hope I see you later. It was nice what you did. Thanks!"

Malcom nodded as the girl left the room.

"She's very pretty, and I understand why you like her," Ezequiel commented casually when Nora was out of sight.

Malcom tried to speak, but Ezequiel was forcing him to drink a potion to fade his complaints.

The potion healed his clearest wounds, but Ezequiel using an arcane glove and applying his magic power began to heal the fractures that Malcom had.

The process was painful, but after ten minutes, all the fractures were perfectly healed.

"Thanks! Sorry for causing you so much trouble!" Malcom said awkwardly as he looked at him with full of reluctance.

Ezequiel got up, "Don't worry, brat! I still have to help my assistant!"

Malcom let out a sigh, and looking at Ezequiel, he saw him take a box and then said, "Listen! Keep getting beat up, for your pride is no good to anyone! If you can't win a fight! Which is your case is always! At least run away!"

Kapitel 86: Chosen Fate (1)

Malcom let out a resigned sigh before he said seriously, "Even if I wanted to run away, they would catch me! Not even that I can do well!"

Ezequiel looked at him. He shook his head before he sighed over the boy's situation.

"Take this brat! This will help you with that," he said with a complicated expression.

Just as he said that, Ezequiel threw a box towards him swiftly.

Malcom caught it short with difficulty. When he opened it, he found two straps.

The straps were small and clearly did not go around his waist. They had a small wind craft on them when Ezequiel said, "Its name is Alas. Put it on your shoes and enjoy! It's a top-notch magical treasure brat."

He released a helpless sigh, "Tsk. This is more than you deserve, but you know I feel sorry for you."

Malcom looked at him reproachfully, but a small smile appeared on his face. Ezequiel saw it. His eyes widened in mock surprise before pointing at him.

"You smiled!! Jason seriously destroyed your brain!" Ezequiel blurted out with fake excitement.

The smile on Malcom's face disappeared as he tied the straps to his shoes, and they were got integrated into them, adding the symbol of the wings.

Malcom felt strange energy running through his body when he said with a huge disappointment, "Zeq if this uses magic, it's not useful to me!"

Ezequiel looked at him in wonder when he said, "That is the best part! The energy that powers Alas is non-magical. It is powered by physical energy, and you have that. So it does work for you."

Malcom opened his eyes in surprise and, getting up, gave a little jump, and this took him to the ceiling, crashing his head against it.

When he landed, the pain made him let out a scream while Ezequiel laughed even more.

Malcom glared at him but then said gratefully, "Thank you, Zeq!"

The smiling man nodded, "Don't thank me. They are not free. Tomorrow we will have another expedition!"

"Are you seriously letting me go with you again?" Malcom asked happily. His eyes widened in disbelief.

Ezekiel nodded and then said, "Yes! My daughter does not want to go! And it's a tough job, so I need an extra pair of hands! But I must ask your mom, and it will be all weekend!"

"Cool! Don't worry about my mom! She will say yes as long as you go with me!" Malcom excitedly said. He then looked at Ezequiel mischievously before asking, "Will we go 50 50 this time?"

Ezequiel smirked and then asked, "What are you talking about? You're wearing your salary on your feet!"

Malcom threw a punch that he stopped instantly.

For the first time, looking at Malcom seriously, Ezequiel said, "I know your position bothers you! And I know abusive people like Jason are abound. But you can't keep opposing them. You are going to get very hurt, Malcom! One day you will be out of luck!"

Malcom sat down on the gurney again and then responded, "I am not going to let anyone think they are better than me just because they have more power! I'm not going to run away from any abuse!"

"Sometimes running away is the only option, kid!" Ezequiel said after releasing a sigh. He then sat in his chair and looked at the young man.

Malcom looked at him with eyes full of bitterness when he said, "Only cowards run away like my father! He took off when I was chosen to wear this damn Mark! I will not be the same. My mother stayed and fought adversity for me. And I will always fight against all adversity. I will not withdraw!"

"That is admirable! I bet your mother will be proud when you get killed in high school for being too brave to run away!" Ezequiel praised.

Malcom looked at him cynically. Ezequiel continued, "You are too smart not to recognize between a tactical retreat and cowardice! Don't let your anger blind you! You are better than that!"

Malcom looked at his shoes and listened to what Ezequiel said, nodding.

"Now get out of here! I have work to do, and you have classes!" The doctor said.

Malcom walked to the door and looking at Ezequiel, and he said, "Zeq! You know what?! You are a good guy! There are not many people like you!"

And with those words, Malcom left the office.

Malcom left classes in the afternoon. That was undoubtedly the most difficult moment of the day for the marked ones.

Having to deal with classmates throughout the day was difficult, but it was the moment when classes ended that everyone had to converge in the same place.

Malcom went out trying to avoid conflicts, but being the one who did not run attracted everyone's attention, but that day the person who was waiting for him was different.

As he walked out the front door, Nora was leaning on a column calmly. When she left it, she saw him and raised her hand.

"Hello, Malcom!" She greeted.

Malcom smiled when he saw her and walking towards her he thought about how beautiful she looked, he didn't have too many friends, and that a person would wait for him for something different than fighting was a new sensation for him.

Approaching slowly, he looked at the girl when suddenly she felt a pull and saw how her backpack was snatched from her back.

She, unable to bear the impulse, fell to the ground while her backpack was in the hands of Jason, who smiled at her fall.

Malcom got to where she was and helping her to get up, and he asked, "Are you okay?"

She got up, cleaned her clothes, and then softly said, "Please don't fight!"

Malcom looked her directly in the eyes. In them, she reflected a clear fear. Seeing how they had beaten him in the morning made her think that perhaps another of those brutal beatings would end in a worse way.

However, Malcom looked at Jason, felt like his anger was running up his spine.

"Why do you have to be such an idiot?" Malcom asked after he stood up with determination.

Jason opened his eyes in surprise, and staring at Malcolm, asked coldly, "What did you say?"

Malcom, full of anger and frustration, walked towards him when he asked with a taunting grin, "Do you have to be such an idiot all the time?"

Just as he said that he pointed to Nora then added, "What the hell did she do to you? What do you want to prove? That you are stronger than us? Yes, you are, and what about that?"
