South Africa was also in the news.

The country announced the success of a one-year environmental clean-up plan.

The plan saw the reduction of Durban's pollution by more than 30% in one year alone.

This was seen as a major breakthrough the country's fight against climate change and an example of what other countries on the continent, and the globe, should be doing to do their part to manage the planet's growing climate and environmental concerns.

The plan received much accolade because it received support from the government, industries and the citizenry. All sides were willing to take part in the plan because it was easier for them to take part in it than not to do so.
