Kapitel 6: I wished you were there

A beautiful, breathtaking treehouse welcomed us upon arrival at an enchanted place before my eyes. I couldn't still believe that a fascinating sight has been isolated for a long, long time.

I felt honored, watching the bees and the colorful butterflies flew around up into the air, showing their unique stunts to me.

I smiled sweetly. Touched my chest when a cold wind blew up, rubbing softly on my vulnerable skin. "Oh, what a soothing sensation I'd ever felt!" I murmured as I stroked my arms with a rhythm.

Suddenly, cold, yet drowning palms rested on my shoulders that effortlessly broke the spell that was completely cast on me.

I knew his touch. Memorizing every small detail of him with no hesitation. It has been fourteen days since I agreed and signed the contract and I could say I slowly discovered something about him.

"You're too quiet," he said, caressing my back while he was breathing heavily from behind.

I shrugged off my shoulders. Bit my lower lip as I smiled shortly, and turned around, "I… I can't believe everything here is true!"

"It's true, Andy!" he replied. "I used to stay here every time I feel alone."

Lisandro sighed. He seemed tired, but there was part of him telling him to be active. I wasn't sure, but I'd noticed that he liked kissing me on the neck that gave me goosebumps.

I gulped, looked intently into his powerful eyes, and smiled over my shoulders. I should stop overthinking; it was not good for my health either.

He loosened up his necktie, lifted his head, staring at the warm sky. Lisandro was a typical, good-looking man at my age, yet, I felt a strong, invincible wall that kept us apart. Every touch we made, every kiss we felt, still, I couldn't feel it–one, true love.

Maybe my mother was right when she once told me about loving a person unconditionally. She said that love must be real, as slow as a snail, and along the way, lovers should embrace each other's flaws wholeheartedly.

And I should be prepared myself for having children after an imperfect perfect marriage. She never hoped for a grandiose wedding, but she wished for a prosperous, strong bond between me and my future husband.

It made me emotional. Bringing up those beautiful, good memories with her brought me back to the past when I didn't have to think about what to eat the next day.

My life was almost perfect, but just like an ordinary song, even metals coated in rust despite taking care of it. In a blink of an eye, both of them passed away and I had a chance to make feel them proud of me – of my not-so-big achievement in my whole existence.

I sighed. Felt the heavyweight once again after letting them go, many years ago. "C-can we climb up right over there?" I asked.

Caressing my temple desperately, Lisandro tilted his head slightly, making me nervous all out of a sudden.

"Hold my hand. I don't think you can make it to the top," he told me like I was a little girl who needed help from an older one.

I rolled my eyes at him. Whispering things that I wasn't supposed to be saying at all while he held my hand tightly.

I had no choice but to obey his orders, or he would turn into a different person if someone disobeyed his orders. I accidentally overheard it from other employees, but no one ever reported his bad attitude – not even before.

Lisandro abruptly lifted my chin. He was gasping for air, staring at my face like there was something on it right now. Slowly, he moved his head closer to me that completely fluttered my vulnerable, soft heart.

"W-what are you doing?"

"We're alone. That means I can do whatever I want to do with you up there!" he pointed out the terrific treehouse above us, smirking like a teenager.

I narrowed my eyes, looked at the wooden staircase behind him with a short, bitter smile on my lips.

"Excuse me! Aren't you still tired of doing it? Three times a day isn't that bad anyway!" I shockingly told him.

If he wanted to do another round, well, there was nothing I could do but to run away from him – if it would be successful. But Lisandro chuckled, grabbed my waist by his strong, flexible arms.

His face was wrapped with a different expression. How I wish it was true and would last until the contract ended. If I must pretend to be happy in return because he helped me, I'd rather feel sad, broken, and live in vain.

I thought it was the only thing that changed, but then he gently cupped my rosy cheeks, looked into my great pair of eyes with a candid smile on his soft, thin lips.

He looked like a jaw-dropping werewolf, who came to the land, ordered to spread chaos, darkness, and searched for the sweetest flesh of a woman – the key to survival.

A flesh–eating creature that once lived thousands of years ago and I had never believed the stories about them.

"Wait!" I put my palm on his chest, smiling widely while I was pushing him away from my face.

"Rule number 6, never say no to your client," he suddenly kissed my lips. Held my hands tightly, pulling me up to the perfect treehouse painted with bright blue paint.

Lisandro was laughing out loud when we reached the front door. It was a wooden door, but the way it looked—it seemed tough and indestructible.

He stopped, took a silver key from his pocket, opened the door with excitement on his face. Everything seemed real and connected, and I wished I'd met him when I was in high school—at different times, places, and situations.

"I wished you were there to save me," I whispered regretfully.

Remembering my painful past wasn't easy. Until now, it reminded me how I suffered from insomnia after being hit by a baseball bat accidentally. It was the worst day ever and I would never forget that day—never.
