Kapitel 49: Chapter – 49: Title at the End

[Rei POV]

It only takes me a week to perfectly control the clones this time as I already have some experience controlling the first one. After that comes the important part. With the first clone, I was in a kind of hurry, so I was not able to complete my tests on activating genes inside the clone. Now it's time to continue with some testing on that front.

This clone is created from an old cell of mine. The main reason for that is, I need everyone to witness the awakening of my Sharingan! If I suddenly show a fully developed one instead, I don't even want to think about its implications. Although with my current setup, it will be close to impossible to truly end my life, I will be at a huge disadvantage by being in the limelight, and also, it doesn't suit me; I would rather be in the shadows and fish for benefits. Therefore, I used a cell that I had extracted when I started with bloodline experiments; like when I was three and only had one tomoe. Hence, this clone will be stuck at that level unless I find a way to activate more genes, and for that exact reason, this is a perfect specimen for my research in this respect.

I had already tried using the different chakras and different quantities of it too, but nothing has worked so far. Now I want to try using my own chakra and see if it can activate them. I repeat the same process, but instead of genes I have collected from someone else, I use mine to extract chakra and cast the Seal of Ouroboros. I see that it does have some kind of effect, but still, the genes didn't get activated.

But then I suddenly think, if I introduce active genes that belong to someone else into my cell, they collapse, but what if the active genes also belong to me? I mean I have never really tried it as there was never a need to do such a thing. If I already have that gene active, why would I try injecting it again?

I don't want to risk destroying the clone, so I didn't directly experiment on it. Instead, I used the similar approach I used previously; creating an artificial cell. I isolated the necessary genes and tried to create an artificial cell with two active genes; basically twelve combinations.

Behold, one among the twelve samples survives while all others are destroyed. And of course, the one that survives is actually the one I activated as the second gene.

The answer was right in front of me! Sorry, I was the answer the whole time! Now I just have to find a way to safely inject the active gene into the clone's body.

After finding the answer, the next part is obviously to find out why? Why does it not work with anyone else's genes but works with mine?

It could be because the clone is created from my cells and in turn, has my genes. Hence, its cells are not rejecting my active genes too. Then that raises an even bigger question. All the genes in my body are inherited from Kaguya Otsutsuki! Does this mean that, if I get Kaguya's blood, I can activate all genes by directly inserting them into my body?

More importantly, after I activate all the genes from Kaguya's bloodline, if it still holds true that I cannot introduce active genes from others into my body, where will I find inactive genes of other Otsutsuki? Does this mean that this path I am taking would end after activating all of my genes? And after that, if I have to go further, I have to take the same route as the other Otsutsukis and eat the chakra fruits?

Why does all this sound so much familiar?

"All those who walk on the path of bloodlines will eventually be shackled by the very bloodline itself…"

"Dammit! Dammit! Dammit!"

"It's those f*cking Bloodline Shackles!"

[Beep! Warning! Emotion quotient exceeding limits! Please calm down.]

[Beep! Warning! Emotion quotient ...]

[Beep! Warning! …]

"How? How can the bloodline shackles exist in the Shinobi World?"

"Wait a minute… Don't tell me all bloodlines in the Multiverse are bound to encounter this fate?"

"Dammit…" I curse one last time and try to calm myself down.

** a few minutes later **

"Is it worth destroying an entire world to become powerful?" I have asked this question to myself a number of times, but each time I found myself answering, "YES!"

"I don't care if it's right or wrong, if I have to destroy a world to achieve my goal, I will do it without the slightest hesitation! Only if I do that will I be content with myself, and even if by chance I fail in my quest to immortality, I will have no regrets!"

With that out of the way, I start to plan my future actions, "There is one chance to acquire the chakra fruit in the future, but for that, I need some events to happen exactly as it did in the canon, only then will I be in control of the future; one such example is Rin's death. If I look at it closely, if I remove Rin's death from the series of events, the story of Naruto changes completely! Even Minato and Kushina might not necessarily die that early! I have other ways to mimic the said event like cloning her and having my clone take her place and die, but why would I want to do that? I believe in equal exchange, and I seriously don't see anything of value she can give me for saving her. Let's say I am willing to suffer a loss and save her, then what? once she notices what Obito has become, it will be hard to say what she will do; messing up the entire series of events after that…"

"Therefore, sorry Rin, I might have to let you die…"

"As for the Uchiha massacre, I haven't really thought about it yet as there is still time. But one thing is for sure, that old ghost will definitely be watching his sons' incarnations, so I will have to be careful if I want to interfere in any events surrounding those two and not let him notice anything…"

"In addition, as a Plan B, I should still continue to research introducing new active genes into cells or a way to turn the cells themselves inactive without damaging them, because I doubt I will be able to find any Otsutsuki with inactive genes!"

After thinking up to this point, I breathe a long sigh to expel all the gloominess and start my daily practice, no matter what plan, my strength will be the key.
