[Rei POV]
By evening, I could collect nine blood samples. One from the owner of a three tomoe Sharingan, two from two tomoe, and six more from one tomoe. I am delighted by today's harvest.
As soon as I reach home, I impatiently rushed into the Origin space.
I take a quick look at the test tubes with blood samples inside the refrigerator with glee. Next, I take sample blood from all of them and place all except the three tomoe sample in one centrifuge and only the three tomoe one in another.
After starting the centrifuge, I wait with bated breaths for the process to complete. Will they also have twenty-seven mutated genes? how many of them will be active? many questions start to run around in my head.
Ten to fifteen minutes later, the centrifuge comes to a slow halt. I decided to start with the one tomoe samples and save the best for the last.
As I expected, this sample also had twenty-seven mutated genes with just one active gene. This person must have recently activated his Sharingan. But what was surprising was the gene that was active was different from mine.
'Does every Sharingan activate a different gene when it awakens?' I think while moving on to another one tomoe sample.
'This one has two active genes, they both are different than mine!' I exclaim.
One by one I analyze all six of the one tomoe samples. The last one had three active genes, with two different than mine.
Next, I move on to two tomoe blood samples. Even these had only twenty-seven mutated genes. Among the two samples, one of them had only four active genes all of which I had seen previously. The other one had seven active genes! I found two more unique active genes from it.
Finally, I move onto the three tomoe blood sample. This one gave me a pleasant surprise. It had Ten active genes! Ten! I even got three new activated genes.
In total, I have collected thirteen active gene samples other than my already active two genes. In total, If I merge with all these genes, I should have fifteen active genes. I don't know about Mangekyo, but I know it is definitely above three tomoe.
From what I have observed so far, one to three active genes is in the range of one tomoe Sharingan, four to eight or nine is two tomoe and finally nine/ten and above is three tomoe. I am not sure about Mangekyo yet as I have yet to analyze one. 'Maybe if Fugaku gets injured in war?'
But these samples have brought in an interesting question. Why has everyone's Sharingan activated different genes? More importantly, how are these genes getting activated? And Why?
I have a hunch, I can find the answers in the process of awakening. That reminds me, haven't I recorded my Sharingan's awakening? Let's see what mysteries you hold.
'A. I chip! show me the process of the awakening of my Sharingan.'
[Beep! Opening recording. Playing in 3… 2… 1...]
With that, a 3D hologram of the body of a baby was displayed before my eyes. It wasn't like a person, more like how a byakugan would see. Initially, everything was peaceful but suddenly chakra started flowing towards my brain. Once chakra reached my brain, some kind of change happened. Another kind of purple chakra started flowing out of my brain through the optical nerves and reached my eyes. Next under the influence of this purple chakra, my eyes started to turn red until a tomoe symbol appeared on them.
'Genes are the ones that determine the characteristics of an organism. These mutated genes have somehow modified the brains of Uchiha. In special circumstances, the brain is able to convert normal chakra into a special kind of chakra. That purple chakra should be the Uchiha chakra that is unique to the Indra bloodline,' I think 'Also, it is the same weird energy I noticed in the active mutated genes. So, the Uchiha chakra somehow activates the mutated genes in the eyes? And that should work like a chain reaction that changes all other cells inside the body. I don't know if I can see my genes directly from this recording.'
'A. I chip! Zoom in and show me the mutated genes in my eyes. And start when the Uchiha chakra reaches the eyes.'
To my surprise, it is possible. Then I remember the command I gave to A. I chip before my Sharingan activated, 'record every single detail!' That must be why it even recorded gene-level details.
'That's good. I don't need to repeat the hassle I did previously to see my mutated genes again. A. I chip will be able to directly show it to me.'
The recording started again. But this time I am only seeing the mutated genes of a single cell in my eyes. When the purple chakra enters the cell, it tries to enter all the mutated genes. But it fails in twenty-six of them. Only one of the mutated genes succeeds in getting activated. The rest simply reject the chakra.
'Oh, this is interesting, I had already known everyone's chakra is different. But it seems every Uchiha has their own unique Uchiha chakra too. And the compatibility of this chakra with the Otsutsuki genes seems to be different for different Uchiha.'
'So, that's the talent everyone talks about. The more compatible your chakra is with the Otsutsuki genes, the easier it is to awaken them as they readily accept it. On the other hand, if it is less compatible, no matter how much hard work one does, it will be useless as the genes would simply reject it and refuse to be activated. In other words, the closer your Uchiha Chakra is to Indra's chakra, the more your talent is, as these genes were inherited from him. There is one exception to this, that is, a massive amount of Uchiha chakra. if by some sort of huge emotional trauma an Uchiha is able to produce a huge amount of Uchiha chakra, the quantity will overcome quality and is still able to activate these genes.'
'Wait does that mean, each Uchiha has a limit and when they are run out of compatible genes to activate they can't progress without emotional trauma? So, that's what the Curse of Hatred means! That must also be the reason why not everyone who awoke their Sharingan could fully develop it to a three tomoe Sharingan!' I exclaim.
'I wonder what my limit is? I don't have much hope though,' I think, 'But I am different, I will find an alternate way!'
