Kapitel 56: No Solid Evidence
Patricia immediately returned to the base which is a condominium unit where the three will be staying for the duration of the mission. When she returned, the two boys have yet to arrive which is why she already started to print out the pictures that she has taken.
She rested for a while as transforming to another person makes her stamina run out easily. It also affects her psyche which is why she always returns to her real self in order not to forget who she really is. She fell asleep from waiting for the two to arrive with their uniforms all sweaty.
"Took you guys long enough. I started to think that you guys abandoned me and just went out chasing after girls." Patricia stated as she reheated the takeout that she ordered just before sleeping.
"We had to investigate the school during the night to make sure that there are no irregularities. Did you know that I actually saw a real grim reaper with my own eyes!? I feel like I can live forever now that I have conquered death." Jihan stated as his adrenaline pumped when the grim reaper vanished.
"If you mean by seeing a grim reaper then I could vouch that you did no such thing. You avoided eye contact like when you are afraid of getting called out by the teacher in class to answer the question written in the blackboard." Adrian stated as he exposed Jihan.
"Why! You should not expose me like that! What happened to bros before…" Jihan stated but Patricia already hit him in the back of his head before he is able to finish his sentence.
"So, what did you guys find out? I know for a fact that you guys should have something seeing that you are hungry and late to return." Patricia stated as she observes the two as they gulp down food like never before.
"Well, nothing happened this time at school. So, we decided to investigate by asking the spirits that are trapped in the school which are many. The only problem is that they tend to avoid our empath here for some reason. Adrian will tell you the rest as my food is calling for me." Jihan stated as he shut his mouth and focused intensely on eating.
"We only found out that something should be controlling the entity that is performing these supernatural acts. The spirits say that the activity is not made by a ghost or an evil spirit. It is safe to say that we should go back to the home base.
The thing that is attacking the school is not something concerned with the book of the dead. I believe that we should focus our energy elsewhere." Adrian stated his opinion as the thing attacking the school is not even an evil spirit.
"If it is not an evil spirit then why does the suspect have things like these at his house." Patricia stated as she showed the pictures that she printed to Adrian.
Adrian flipped the pages over and he could not fully transcribe what is written. It seems to be some sort of text that has not been created in the past. This could be a newly written system of magic that the suspect is creating.
"I cannot read all of it as I have never encountered some of the characters here. What I can say is that the text it is related to magic but also part of sorcery at the same time. Some of the characters here are curses but there is no receiver. It might be a hobby of the suspect." Adrian stated.
"If that is the case then why did he get employed at that school where strange things are happening. It sounds awfully suspicious of him to actually do that. I bet he is the one causing the unrest in the school." Patricia stated.
"Schools are not that new when it comes to supernatural activity or phenomena because a lot of emotions are being felt at school. You can say that it would be weird if a school will have no supernatural activity because spirits are attracted to the energy that emotions hold.
I think that we should return back to base and try another assignment. This assignment is nothing related to the Deviants becoming Depraved. There is not even news of Depraved here in this country since the other Deviants might be acting as the police." Adrian stated.
"So, you are saying that we should not help the school even though they clearly need our help." Jihan stated as he stopped eating and put down his chopsticks.
"Yes, because their problem as nothing to do with us or the objective of our mission. It is just a waste of our time and effort if we stay any further." Adrian stated as he could not even feel the aura of an evil spirit in the school.
"I thought you were an empath! You are really cold to be one." Jihan stated as he is not pleased with Adrian's take on the mission.
"Those that get carried by their emotions end up dead or severely wounded to the point that they want to die. Let me remind you that we are not heroes that solve everyday problems. People are intelligent enough to solve their own problems." Adrian replied with a stern face.
"Let us calm down first. I think it is hasty for us to say that this case has nothing to do with our objective. We should at least spend a week in order to be sure. We will decide what we will do if nothing does happen during the week." Patricia stated which Adrian nodded as he headed to his room in order to rest.
"Did you guys not really find something in your night investigation?" Patricia asked Jihan.
"The ghost lady that we talked to told him that the one who pushed the girl to suicide is not a spirit." Jihan replied.
"Are you sure that she is telling the truth?" Patricia asked.
"What will the ghost gain with a lie? She will already be judged so why would she want to increase her burdens." Jihan stated as he too went back to his room to rest.
