Guided by Bertran, Jack drove southwesterly on back lanes, with frequent road changes. The old Toyota rented in Carcassonne seemed adapted for the task. Along with the Carcassonne tobacconist and Jack were Mike and Nick.
"Are we going far?" Asked the young man.
“I have never measured the distance by the paths we must take. If you look at the map in a straight line there is not much more than fifty kilometers. ”Replied Bertran.
"Don't you want to anticipate where we are going?"
"Where everything began. You will soon see."
After two hours of travel, they arrived in a small town of approximately one hundred houses. Visitors were informed by a sign that they were in Montsegur, Ariege department, in the Midi-Pyrenees region of France.
“The village does not have much more than a hundred inhabitants now. The border with Spain is very close. " expressed Bertran.
"Now look up to the top of that mountain."
