He watched everything in awe, never expecting such extravagance and richness beneath a land filled with sand.
Muntaha was momentarily rendered speechless. Before his eyes were one of the most ancient buildings he has ever set eyes on. The design and its intricacies blew his mind away.
Mariam rolled her eyes at the expression he wore. Looking at the same things for centuries has made her numb to their extravagance.
This was especially why she preferred to sleep in the little cave she had found comfort in. The huge palace before them was like a memory bank that haunted and taunted her.
She could have easily taken Muntaha to her cave to avoid walking through her past again. She could have taken him somewhere given how humongous the kingdom was.
Yet, she took him to the place she had avoided for years. This time, her mind had no say in the matter. Her instinct worked against her and led her feet to her doom.
