PYRRHA NIKOS POV

A few days later

As stood by Jaune as he looked at the list of missions available for the Beacon Students.

There were… a lot of missions on the wall.

Understandable as there were many villages and outposts that were constantly harassed by Grimm or Bandits. And there were never enough hunters for all of them.

And with the Vytal festival taking place in Vale, quite a few Hunters have been called back to guard the walls or clear out the Grimm near the city.

Which meant that there were even fewer Hunters out there which in turn meant more missions for the Beacon students.

But she knew that Jaune was currently more interested in a particular mission in Mountain Glenn.

A mission that had not appeared by now.

"Ooh… can we take the village protection mission Jaune? Please?" Ruby begged as she pointed at one of the lower-paying missions.

Weiss sniffed "I suggest we take the Caravan protection mission. Not only will they be in more danger but completing a higher-level mission will give us more prestige and respect from the other teams."

"No," Jaune said and her teammates stared at him.

"Why not?" Weiss asked as she crossed her arms "Is there something wrong with my suggestion."

"There's nothing wrong with either yours or Ruby's suggestion." Jaune said "But if we go on a mission right now then we'll definitely miss out on the Ball taking place in few days. And I've already promised Pyrrha that I'll take her to the dance. And I'm sure that you girls have your own plans regarding the ball. So we'll have to wait until the end of the Ball to take on any of these missions."

Ruby definitely wasn't happy about this, hence the pout but she didn't fight against Jaune's order either.

"Then why did you come here in the first place?" Weiss asked.

"Just to sate my curiosity," Jaune replied before he took her hand and dragged her out of there as Ruby and Weiss followed behind him. "But to be frank, I wanted to see if there was any Mission related to the White Fang in the Mission Board."

"Because of Blake?" Ruby asked.

Jaune shook his head. "No. I'm just worried."

"For what? They're gone from Vale, aren't they?" Weiss asked.

"They are. And that's what's worrying me. Because now we don't know where they are. Or what they plan to do next." Jaune said and then shook his head "You would think that people would be a little more worried about a terrorist group running about but for some strange reason, that doesn't seem to be the case."

They walked in silence until they reached the cafeteria. Team LBVY wasn't there so they took a table and kept the other side empty for them.

"Hey Weiss, Ruby. Who are you two going with on the Ball?"

"I have a date in mind. But you'll just have to wait until the Ball night to find out who he is." Weiss said.

They looked toward Ruby who fidgeted in her seat "I… I don't want to go to the Ball." She said with a pout.

"Why not Ruby?" she asked.

"I don't know how to dance." Ruby said as she played with her food "And even if I did, who would want to take me to the ball."

She frowned, wondering if Ruby had body image issues. She never paid attention to it before but Ruby did have an outgoing sister like Yang who was a bit of a party girl and had large assets and great curves. Compared to her, Ruby might seem like a boring wallflower in comparison. She could see why Ruby would get her image issues.

Before she could say anything to support her youngest teammate, Jaune scoffed "Anyone with an ounce of brain wouldn't miss a chance to take you out to the ball Ruby." Then he wrapped his arms around her "In fact, if I didn't have Pyrrha with me then I would definitely ask you out for the dance."

"Really?" Ruby asked and she hated how small and vulnerable her teammate and friend sounded right then.

"Yes Ruby." She nodded "You're a beautiful girl whether you realize it or not. And don't let anyone tell you otherwise."

"Yes Ruby." Weiss said, looking a little out of it as she tried to comfort her partner "You're not an ugly girl."

She held the urge to facepalm as Ruby cringed at Weiss' words and Jaune laughed.

"Hey! What's going on here?" Yang said as she walked up to them and mussed Ruby's hair much to the younger girl's indignation and then took a seat in front of them which her team mates followed.

"Hey everyone!" Nora greeted cheerfully as she sided up to Ren.

"Hey Nora." She said along with the others.

"So. What were guys talking about just now?" Yang asked curiously.

"Just talking about the upcoming Ball dance." Jaune said with a shrug "Ruby doesn't want to go because she doesn't know how to dance. And doesn't feel like anyone will ask her out."

"Jaune!" Ruby said, looking at their leader in annoyance while he just smirked at her.

"Don't worry Ruby. I don't know how to dance either but I'm going with Ren." Nora said cheerfully before she looked at Ren "We're going together right? I mean, not together-together, you know what I mean."

Ren gave a nod "Sure."

Nora cheered at that and shared a fist bump with Yang who winked at the shorter girl.

Jaune finished his meal and wrapped his arm around her once again. She leaned on his and watched her friends talked about inane topics, wondering how long this peace will last.
