Kapitel 56: 56. Relaxing and magic.
After purchasing the books from the guild that I could, they didn't really have much besides the basics needed to know what you are looking for, what it was worth and where to find it.
I headed back to the Demeter familia to set up the portal for today's work. Things were going incredibly well with that familia, they were polite and kind and incredibly hard working. Even the goddess was enjoyable to be around with her perky attitude and smiling all the time.
Sadly the world was still mostly brown cause things take time to grow, but there were rows of things like trees, bushes, and other plants you could see coming together outside. Of course Demeter could get permission from the guild to use her divine powers to increase the growth of the plants, but we planned to do that once everything was planted. Usually using divine abilities is forbidden from all gods and directly sends them back to heaven, however Demeter had a helpful ability that could benefits the city which made crops grow so that things such as drought or flood or such wouldn't effect the cities food supply. People could also pay to have their crops blessed and the growth rate increased but they needed to have the permission of the guild and the goddess in question.
And I wanted alot of things planted before that happened. Also other things were being built for the future such as beehives, chicken coops, rabbit hutches, basic animal living areas. I didn't have plans to get those now but in the future they might be needed. Nobody wants to live off just fruits and nuts after all besides Chocobo I guess. I might get some actual meat eating summons that I want to keep out.
Carbuncle ate grass and vegetable, Sylph lived off magic, and moogle preferred to eat nuts and berries. As for the meat eaters I had the bahamut trio and leviathan who preferred fish. They would have monstrous appetites with their sizes so I kept them unsummoned.
Heading towards the gardens I headed towards the library, there I dropped off most of the books then headed off to the room Hades and commandeered for a potions lab.
The knight was waiting for me. "I bought some books on herbs and such from the guild they are in the library, the portal is also open if you want to head out and buy supplies for the lab at the apothecary." I pull out quite a bit of money and hand it to her.
"Thank you my king." The pleased rasp of the knight replies.
"No problem, if you need anything else just ask. I should probably look into getting someone to help administer funds and run things when I'm busy." I admit. Delegating some of the tasks to free up time would be good.
I'll look into it later. A quick goodbye to the knight and I head outside with a book to watch over the Demeter familia working. Practically had to beat Demeter and some of the elves out the portal to make them go home and rest. They didn't want to leave the mana rich world and would probably just sleep on the ground with content smiles on their faces.
Lili was there waiting with Hel both had pleased looks on thier faces. This was how we would spend time together, reading outside while I rubbed Lili's ears and watched over the Demeter familia. There was also usually a Knight or two present to keep gaurd. Today it was Anima.
Sitting on the comfortable wooden chair I set my book to the side, I was going to look over my materia first as I had 9 free slots to fill.
I already knew what I was going to be putting in. Gravity, Holy, Death, Meteor, Seal, Manipulate, Capture, Morph, Barrier.
Gravity can crush enemies well with Gravity, Holy was a powerful light based attack, Death could instant kill things, Meteor had 4 different spells, Comet, Comets, Meteor and Meteors. The Comet was just a small fast ball of flaming rocks that smashed into enemies at high speed, comets just added more of them, Meteor however was a massive flaming ball of stone and fire that could probably level the city and Meteors just added more. Seal could be used to not only silence opponents from casting magic but seal their movements and even seal them. Manipulate could mind control enemies, Capture could well capture enemies kind of like Seal but it could convert them into my allies. Morph could turn an enemy into a sheep or a frog, or even just a dropped item. Barrier would allow me to cast barriers which could work like protect, shell, reflect, and wall. Deflecting damage and preventing it from magical or physical attacks.
It was an overall good haul for me, as much as I just wanted to put in 5 Str up materia and 4 Agi up materia and just boost myself by a couple hundred percent.
After that I pretty much sat back and listened to Lili purr away as I rubbed her ears and read my book on metals of this world and where to find them in the dungeon. Some seemed the same however some were different. I would of course be doing a few tests once I got some and got a bit more information. I could surely improve all of our equipment as the blacksmithing skill here was incredibly overpowered.
The rest of the day was spent relaxing just like that since I really had nothing to do besides wait for the knight to bring me money as they were still training. However I wasn't really getting any excellia right now as they would have to move down past the floor 20 level or so but they could still bring in funds which I was thankful for and they were pleased to do. I was spending quite a bit of money on things like Chocobo registration, saddles, more carts, the building of things, some rare plants to be transplanted into the Garden inside of Balamb which was also basically being turned into a greenhouse like area as I had requested.
