The pain was unbearable. Elizabeth was lying on the floor, blood dripping from her nose. She couldn't believe the situation she got in.
- Noah, please! Elizabeth begged him
- You don't deserve mercy! You got yourself into this situation. It's not my fault that you're a whore and all you do is look after guys to hook up with, he said.
- Please... was the last thing she said before passing out.

Elizabeth woke up in a thick layer of sweat. It was very dark and she had a felling of unsettlement. "The nightmares came back, again!" she thought. "I cannot believe this!" She thought that she got rid of everything that meant Noah Montgomery. When she came to New York she changed her hair color and deleted all of her social media accounts. Elizabeth didn't want to deal with Noah anymore. He ruined her and made her uncapable of loving, made her afraid to fall in love again. After she got rid of him, she had nightmares every night and she tried everything to get get rid of them, with no result. But after a while the nightmares just vanished, like she didn't had them and now they're back. Maybe, the situation with Thomas made her think more about the past. Elizabeth took her phone from the nightstand. She thought about texting Thomas, but she was scared of his reaction. What he will say about it?
- You know what? Fuck it! she said and texted him: "Are you sleeping?"
She wasn't waiting for an answer, but she got it: "No. Are you okay?". "No. Can I call you?" she texted back. Elizabeth couldn't believe what she was doing. What was in her mind. The phone rang and she picked up.
- Hi. Sorry for the late hour! I just wanted to talk to someone and Emma is not home, she said.
- Hi. Are you okay? What happened?
- I had a nightmare and I just wanted to hear your voice!
- Do you want me to come to your place? To stay with you, I mean, if Emma isn't home.
- I don't want to bother you. There's no need! Let's just talk about things, if you don't want to go to bed, of course.
- I couldn't sleep anyway, so..., he said.
They talked for hours, about a lot of things and it felt so good to have someone to talk to, other than Emma. He understood her and comforted like no one ever did. Even if she didn't want to catch feelings for him, it was too late for that.
- Thank you! Thank you so much for being here for me, even if it's through the phone, Elizabeth said.
- You don't have anything to thank me for! I just want you to know, that I will always be here for you, whenever you need it, Thomas said.
- Thank you, Thomas! Good night! Elizabeth said
- Good night, Elizabeth! he said and hanged up
She couldn't believe herself. For two years she kept herself far from everything that meant relationship and now the wall built around her was ruined. She laid in bed and fell asleep.

When Elizabeth woke up the sun shined powerful. She reached out to the nightstand to take her phone. She looked at the clock and she saw that it was already 11 am. How long did she sleep? A knock on the door made her wake up from her trance.
- Come in! she shouted and Emma entered the room
- Good morning, Liz! How are you holding up?
- Good morning, Em! Not so good. I had a nightmare about Noah, last night. And because you were gone I talked with Thomas on the phone.
- Did you talk with Thomas? she asked surprised
- Yes! I texted him first, to ask him if he's sleeping and then he called me, after I asked him if he can talk on the phone. We talked a lot, until 4 am, and he told me that he'll be there for me when I need it.
- See, Liz? I told you that he's nice and I think you should give it a shot. After all, it's been two years since you ran away from Noah. And, plus, not all men are like him, Emma said.
- You have your part of truth too! Now, let's go to the kitchen and drink some coffee. I need it!
- Don't you have to go to work today?
- Nope. We have a free day, today! Elizabeth said
- Then, why don't you invite Thomas somewhere? Emma asked
- Oh, I remembered! How was the date with the guy last night?
- Great way to change the subject, Emma said. It was okay...but not as wonderful as yours, two nights ago.
- Emma... you're such a pain in the ass!
- I know, darling! That's why you're my friend. And, you know you love me!
- Yes, Em. I love you and I would've been dead without you! You know that too damn well.
- I know! Love you, too! And now, enough with the sweetness. If you're not going to the news board, can you go shopping? We don't have much things left and I have to go to work.
- I will go, but make me a list, Elizabeth said. When I come home, will I find you here? I was thinking about buying a pizza.
- I think, I'm not very sure. We'll talk on the phone, Emma shouted from her room.
- Ok! I'm going to change while you're making the list, Elizabeth said and walked to her room.
She changed in a pair of sweats and a white t-shirt. This was her go-to whenever she was going to the store that was close to their apartment.
The neighborhood the girls lived in was a quiet one with little shops all over. They had clothes shops, grocery stores and even an internet café. It reminded her of the neighborhood she live in, when she was in UK. Elizabeth missed living there, but she didn't had time to go. The job at the news board kept her busy, even if she wasn't going there, she had a lot of articles to write and today she could afford a break. The shopping was her duty and Emma was the one cooking.
Because she was deep in thought, she didn't see the man that was coming in her direction, so she bumped into him.
- Oh my god! I'm so sorry, I should've watched where I was going, she said frenetically.
- Elizabeth? a voice she knew called her name and when she raised her head, she saw who was standing in front of her.
- Thomas? What are you doing here? In the neighborhood, I mean.
- I was just passing by. Where were you going? he asked
- To the grocery store. Emma told me she's going to work, so I was on duty today, she said and chuckled.
- Want to go and get a coffee? Of course, after you do your shopping. I can come with you, if you want, Thomas said.
And Elizabeth accepted without thinking about anything. After all, the past should be forgotten.
