Kapitel 138: The admission

The only thing Eve could compare the angry mob with was Nexus' army of zombies. Both were numerous and dangerous. Although there were much fewer people with posters and dark faces than walking corpses, the street they stood on was narrow enough that the mass of people threatened to spill over.

And while they weren't rotting like the nightmarish fresh zombies, there was something especially intimidating in the combined force of their anger pointed at Eve and Victor. It resonated through the air, making Eve feel like she was chocking on nothing.

The touch of Victor's warm palm on the nape of her neck reminded her about the reality. She forced herself to stand straight and breathe. A glance at Victor showed her he looked entirely unaffected by the crowd, and Eve couldn't help but feel impressed.
