Kapitel 17: Kidnapped!

Elvira opened her eyes and saw a vast and dark sky, that's odd, I am sure that someone made me unconscious, why am I not tied? And where are the assailants?

Elvira slowly stood up and looked around and saw there is no one in the area, but she soon realized that she is laying on the dead tree she saw in that dream-like place before she woke up as Elvira.

She quickly looked at herself but she is still in the body of the seven-year-old Elvira and not on the body of Li Ran. She looked around again and started walking, the mirrors were gone and there was only vast darkness, no people were in sight. Just as she is feeling that she had walked far from the tree, she looked back only to see that the tree is still behind her and she never left its location.

Elvira felt baffled, she tried walking away from the tree but when she looked back, she is still within the vicinity of the tree. She easily got bored of trying to walk away, she went back to the tree and sat on one of its roots.

Why am I back here again?

Elvira is puzzled as she continued to look around, hoping to see something, anything, in this vast emptiness. Aside from the tree, there was nothing more to see or hear.

Huuu, huuu...

Except for a child's cry... Wait... A child's cry?

Elvira is surprised to hear a cry, she stood up and tried to find where the cries are coming from, she walked around the tree until the crying suddenly stopped.

"Hello?" Elvira tried calling out, she waited for a reply but there was none so she tried calling again. "Hello?"

"It's all your fault!" A child's haughty voice is heard, startling Elvira but she continued to find the source of the voice.

"It's all your fault! You stole it!" The voice continued but it was getting louder, Elvira stopped walking and listened carefully.

"You thief! It's my body! Mine! Mine! Mine!" Suddenly a figure jumped from somewhere and hit her body causing Elvira to fall down. She immediately felt tiny but strong hands grip her neck, strangling her. She tried to break free but she felt powerless, as if she was supernaturally drained, she can't loosen the grip as she had difficulty in breathing.

She tried to open her eyes to look at her assailant but all she could see is a dark shadow as she continued to pry the hands away from her neck. Soon she felt herself getting weaker until she heard another sound.

"..Vira! Elvira! Elvira!" Then as if she was taken from the Abyss of darkness, she suddenly woke up with a start and saw Livius' face so close to her as he shook her shoulders as if trying to wake her.

Livius saw Elvira wake up and his worried face changed into a relief one. "I thought you wouldn't wake up!"

Elvira is startled to see Livius, she sat up, feeling disoriented, she felt she dreamed something important but can't remember. She stared at Livius then looked at their surroundings. It seems they are inside an enclosed space but she could feel they were moving.

"We are inside a carriage, they must have put an illusion magic and a barrier, no matter how much I shout nobody could hear me." Livius spoke when he saw she is puzzled by her surroundings.

"What happened? And how did you end up here with me?" Elvira asked Livius as soon as she calmed her chaotic thoughts.

"I went to town when I heard you explored the town, then, I saw you rush out and so I followed, but it seems the adults got lost trying to catch up. You are a fast runner and it took me a while to find you but when I saw you... You were already being carried by a masked man. I stopped him but I ended up fainting when someone grabbed me from behind." Livius lowered his gaze and bit his lower lip.

"I'm sorry, I wasn't able to help.." Livius eyes watered a bit and he looks like he is ready to burst into tears any moment. Elvira felt uncomfortable seeing him sad, so she tried to think up words that would comfort a seven-year-old kid.

"Uhmm, thanks for trying... You did not exactly fail, you are here with me... so I don't feel as scared... You also woke me up when I was unconscious. It is plenty of help already" Elvira slowly told Livius trying to make him feel better with her words.

It seems effective as Livius mood brightened a bit and he puffed his chest and says "I did well then!" He seems happy to hear he is helpful to her.

Elvira sighed and nodded her head. Then she looked around and saw a small window on the side, she peered and saw that they were already on a trail away from people. Judging from all the trees and plants surrounding them they must be away from the town now.

Suddenly she felt extreme pain in her head as if it is being split into two and a small voice is heard.

"You thief! You will kill everyone! Your existence will destroy everything! Give it back! GIVE IT BACK!!"

Elvira doubled over and tumbled on the floor clutching her head and Livius panicked seeing her in pain. "Elvira! What should I do! Elvira! Elvira! Wuuuwuuuu.." Livius burst into tears not knowing what to do to help Elvira.

Suddenly the carriage jolted before coming to a halt, Livius and Elvira tumbled inside the carriage because of the force.

A sound of clashing swords is soon heard from outside. Livius held Elvira and tried to cover her with his body trying to protect her. The door is suddenly opened and one of the masked men entered with a knife in hand, he is bloodied but he still ferociously approached the children.

Elvira who is still in unbearable pain opened her eyes a little and saw the man aim the knife at them and he pierced forward. Livius felt someone coming from behind, he suddenly pushed Elvira out of the way, Livius groaned with pain and Elvira saw blood poured from Livius back and pooling into the floor.

Elvira's sight blurred, she wants to shout Livius name and ask him if he is okay but the pain intensified that she can't even yell his name, she slowly felt her consciousness drifting away she looked at the man who stabbed Livius and saw him coming her way then he stopped and collapsed in front of her.

She saw a woman's silhouette running towards them and darkness consumed her before the woman even reached her.

Her last thought is Livius' condition. Please, somebody.... save him!
