Kapitel 57: Nerds?!
(A/N: I'm sorry again for the late chapter as school has been a hassle as there are so many requirements. I'm sorry again.)
After separating from the group to do his training, Alex was in the forest looking for a place to train his overall strength and his Devil Fruit ability. He searched for a few hours and found a cave near the big skull of one of the sea kings that Dorry and Brogy told him about. "Giants are really funny people. They even fought each other because of the size of the sea kings that they got. Now that I look at them both, it really is roughly the same size. Well, at least I can end their duel and make them follow me if I win." said Alex as he prepared to train inside of the cave.
Sounds of shouting and screaming were heard in the cave in which Alex was training in. This was because he was trying to master the second stage of his Devil Fruit ability. After trying for a few hours, he still couldn't make the marks all appear. 'I guess it is not yet time for me to condense those marks. Maybe in the fight against them I can break through and master the second stage.' thought Alex as clenched his fists and prepared to leave the cave and rest. He went out of the cave and looked for shelter when he saw a shack that had lights turned on. 'Aside from the giants, I haven't seen a person roaming around the island. I have to check whether they are hostile or not.' thought Alex as he went closer to the shack and looked through the window. As he looked through the window, he was shocked by what he saw. He saw a lot of different types of machines and there was also a forge that did not have any fire. He was curious as to who was brave enough to live here and research. He was happy that there were people who were researching and learning as he was also interested in whatever is in the shack. 'Is it my lucky day today? I want to recruit whoever owns this shack and machines. Damn the ship is getting full now, but it's okay the more people who join the more I can have fun!' thought Alex as he was still looking through the window.
While Alex was investigating the shack, there were two people who, looked like they were twins, were watching him from a bush and talking to each other. "Lexa, what do you think he is doing? Do you think he is sent by those bastards to steal our research?" said the boy as he whispered and Lexa said "I don't know Axel, maybe he is or maybe he is not. If they really sent him, then they are shameless bastards! They already falsely accused us of poisoning a noble and now they try to steal our research."
As they looked at the man again and saw that he disappeared. They try to look for him but then heard a voice from behind "Who are you? Are you guys the owner of the shack?" the twins were surprised that they did not notice him go behind them. "Don't worry, I won't hurt you guys. My name is Alex and I'm just curious about your machines in the shack and those books. Are they new? Who made them? How do you use them? What research do you both do? What are you both doing here?" the pair was flustered at his barrage of questions that they had to be silent for a moment to digest all of his questions. Alex saw this and said "My apologies, I was just excited that I met people who are also bookworms or researchers because although I am a pirate, I am also interested in those." the pair were shocked again because he told them that he was a pirate but calmed down as they felt he meant no harm. "My name is Axel and this is my sister Lexa. We were researchers in Alabasta but now we are here in this island to take refuge from authorities." said the guy who was named Axel.
Alex was curious as to why they were taking refuge here so he decided to ask "Why are you both here? Did you both do something to anger the King or some 'Nobles'?" the pair felt the disgust and anger as Alex said the word Nobles as they thought that maybe he had an experience in dealing with some nobles.
"We were orphans in the Kingdom of Alabasta and we were praised for our intelligence and our skills in our chosen professions. The both of us were called the 'Heavenly Twins' in Alabasta because of our contributions in the medical field for me and the weapon field for my brother. But then, I caught the eye of a certain Noble in Alabasta and he wanted to marry me. He would try his best to win me over, but in the end I refused him. After that incident, he left me and my brother alone for a few weeks. But one day as I was preparing my medicine, the royal guards wanted to arrest me because I 'poisoned' a noble with my medicine. My brother got the news and used his newly researched weapons to rescue me from the royal guards. After being rescued we got all of our research and lab equipment from our labs and houses. And after getting them, we burned our labs and houses so that they won't be able to salvage anything from it. We then left Alabasta disguised as merchants and we were dropped off here as this was where we could research in peace. Now we are wanted by the Kingdom of Alabasta and would probably get a bounty in the next few days." explained Lexa as she was beginning to tear up because of what happened to them. Alex just looked at them with pity as he was saddened by their story. He wanted to get back at that noble who destroyed the lives of these two, who just wanted to pursue their dreams, just because of their selfish desires.

ImStar0710 My novel will still follow the canon timeline, but since my OCs would be added there are more things that would change in the One Piece World. This novel is just a product of my ideas that I got while I was reading about One Piece.
