"Ok, Hunter looks like you're the last one. I'm hearing you want to do thunder-storm mode?" Mr. Maple inquired.
"Yes, I would."
"Ok let's get you started. Mr. Maple turns his attention toward the control panel. "Wish me, luck guys," Hunter says as he waves to us and enters the room. I and Hazel then waved to him and watched him start stretching.
So far Hunter hasn't transformed yet so I wonder if he has a strategy.
"Alright Hunter, it's all set up. Starting the trial in three, two, one." Right on cue robots start piling in. There weren't as many robots but more than what Hazel went up against.
I'm watching hunter closely, analyzing his every move, I notice he takes his time and deals with the robots efficiently with his physical skills. So far he has held up without the use of any magic. As Hunter is clearing up all the robots I direct my gaze toward Hazel and we have begun to have an interesting conversation as he continues with his trial.
"You look like you're having fun watching Hunter," Hazel says, with a cheeky smile. I've seen that smile on Summer before, but it has always been directed toward me and Autumn. I would never get an answer whenever I tried to ask what the smile meant.
"Ya, I guess, he's pretty strong," I admitted truthfully. To be completely honest I've never seen a guy strong enough to hold his own, that was outside of the kingdom's royal families. So when I watched Slay and Hunter take this trial and do fairly well, it surprised me.
"I see, are you sure it's the only reason?" She teases, a small smile forming on her mouth. "Yes I'm sure, is there supposed to be another reason?" I ask, curious to know what she means.
"No, I guess not." her smile drops and she averts her gaze back to our teacher. I frown and turn away, Surprisingly after that conversation, I hear Mr. Maple call Hunter back out. Well, that was quick.
I gaze over at the door and watch Hunter walk out with a smile. Looks like he had fun.
"We've finally reached the end of the exam, now give me a moment to figure out the scores and we will wait until they call you for your next class." Mr. Maple informed us of our next classes.
We stood up, doing as Mr. Maple said, and waited for the next announcement to move on. "How did I do?" Hunter questioned, startling me as he walked over toward me and Hazel.
"You did a great job." I complimented. "Thanks, it means a lot coming from you, because you know, you're so strong." He mutters shyly.
I blushed slightly and smile back. "Thank you, I appreciate it."
The speakers came on and a feminine voice broadcasted throughout the halls. "Alright, I hope everyone is doing well so far. It is now time for your next trial. So get moving." We get up and begin to leave. "Ok, our next trial is spell casting." Mr. Maple announced.
Great, that'll be fun. "Everyone please follow me." Our group followed instructor Maple and went downstairs, through long hallways with a wide span of rooms. Soon we reached the door for our exam.
As we are about to walk in, another group comes into view trying to pass. I look over at the group and see a very familiar face. One that I have just seen but I know the person too well. He looks like he's enjoying himself.
"Hello, Axel," I said. "Hey, Dawn!" He smiles at me and waves. A feeling of relief washes over me, it is nice to be back with my friend.
Atumuns instructor comes to the front of the group. "What are you doing here Mr. Maple?"
"We have spellcasting class. What about you?"
"Spellcasting is also our next class though." She said with a confused look. "We might as well do it together. This classroom can fit everyone." Mr. Maple suggested.
"I guess we could, there is no harm in combining classes." The woman agreed. "Looks like we're taking the exam together. Hope you're bringing your A-game." Axel teased. "Of course I did." I smiled daring, I wasn't going to let him do better than me.
"Hey Dawn, Do you know him?" Hunter asked. I turn around to face him and Hazel who is interested in knowing my answer as well. With a straight face, I say. "Yes, he's my best friend."
"Oh, I see." He said with a grin as he walked over to Axel. He held out his hand and introduced himself. "Nice to meet you, I'm Hunter."
"It's nice to meet you too, I'm Axel."
"Everyone please enter the room." Mr. Maple instructed. Each group followed and went inside the room, each group found an empty spot to stand. "Now normally we would do spell casting outside but for today we'll test your control and your power and ability to cast them." The woman adviser informed. "Oh, and to the people in Mr. Maple's group you can call me Mrs. Selene."
We nod our heads and continue to listen to the instructions. "You will all take turns to do a simple controlled spell. Show us how well you can control your powers and maybe have fun with it for the other students." Mr. Maple said.
Does he want us to attack each other? "Do you want us to like, throw it at someone?" A girl in Axel's group chirped in.
"Sure, just don't completely injure them. So who wants to go first?" Mr. Maple me
No one was ready for this. It's normally nice to see someone go first so you can observe their movements so you know what to expect.
I suppose I could go first again, I slowly raise my hand, I notice someone had the same idea. I turn my head to the right and see Axel staring right back at me. "Um, do you want to go?" I gestured forward.
"No no, you can go if you want." Well, now this is a predicament. It's not that I want to go first, I just raised my hand to get things started.
"I have an idea, how about both of you have a little competition." Mrs. Selene proposed.
"What do you mean by competition?" Hazel said, confused. "How about you two come up here and I'll explain."
I stepped down from my pedal stool and I met Axel up front, facing the groups. "Now, you will be tested by using strong spells against each other. For now, we'll just see if you can hold on, keep it at a high power level and please refrain from harming yourselves in the process." Mr. Maple informed.
"There will be no winning or losing points, this just a fun little activity." Mrs. Selene exclaimed.
Seems like I'll have to go up against Autumn. Usually, it'd be rude of me to hold back on a strong opponent but in this case, we don't have a choice.
"To start this both of you will need to conjure up a strong enchantment. Don't worry Axel you've got this in the bag." Mrs. Selene reassured him.
"I'm not too sure Selene, Dawn is very talented for her age, I think she's going to win." Mr. Maple argued.
Guess this is becoming a game to see which team has the better top student. "You've got this Dawn, he's nothing to you!" Hazel yelled from the back of the room. "You'll win! I believe in you!" Hunter screamed to bring up my spirit.
I chuckled at his words and listened as Autumn's group was also cheering him on. "She's nowhere near your strength Axel, you can defeat her no problem." One guy said. "Ya!" The rest of his team replied.
I looked over at Autumn and gave him a smirk, he returns the look and we were both ready to go. It's always fun having a little competition with Autumn. I do love spending time with him, he's really fun to hang around.
"I'm ready when you are." I declared.
Axel said, "I'm all set to go."
With that our third trial commences.
