The Denarian swings his baton from side to side to impress me, as it were, a mighty weapon.
If I "could" hurt living creatures, all it took was one good punch, and I'd put him out. I'm strong, ok?
-You can take the plasma cannon, don't worry, I'm good with my baton. -As soon as he finishes saying he twirls the bat in the air as he jumps up and approaches me. The stick for a few inches from my face. I would blink if I could. He sighs and lowers the baton as he backs away from me.
-No reaction? Are you that confident about your abilities? This is not good on the battlefield, you know?- He speaks all confident.
Not wanting to offend, but it's a bit comical considering that his physical appearance isn't the best.
I don't answer. If he realizes I'm incapable of attacking, he'll disqualify me instantly.
High ranks certainly let power go to the head.
But I can use this to my advantage, he has many other ways to defeat someone.
If I manage to put on a show good enough for him to smudge his pants, I'm sure I'll be admitted to the NOVA troop right away.
Out of nowhere, he swings the bat full force at me.
I teleport away instinctively.
He sure is faster than an average human. Typical of a trained xandarian soldier.
The bat hits the empty floor and the Dendarian looks around confused until he finds me.
He smiles to cover the mistake and puts the bat on his shoulders to look confident.
Slowly, he walks towards me as he says.
-So you have some tricks up your sleeve? My name is Ruf by the way.-
He walks slowly until he is a meter away from me.
Then he shoots the stick at me like an arrow.
I build an invisible bridge of portals and step out of the way once more. I'm floating out of his reach and examining him I'm still coming up with a plan.
-Running away forever won't make you pass this test, you know that right?- He asks looking up with one hand covering the sun that hit his eyes. This gives me an idea. . .
-Yes, I am aware. But you're so slow and pitifully weak that I'm afraid I'll break you if I touch you. -He keeps smiling.
-So it will be like this- He says, slowly wanking towards the weapon stand.
-And what do you think about. . . This?- He hits me with a bolt from a Xandarian plasma weapon. The plasma shot hits my floating platform (which he, unfortunately, can't see) and pathetically ricochets back to the Dendarian. He narrowly dodges and the shot even burns a piece of his armor and hits the ground, diluting into a small explosion that throws Ruf away.
He grunts as he painfully gets up from the tea and brushes the sand off his clothes.
- This is impressive I have to admit, but what kind of attack are you capable of, robot girl?- he asks, still having to look up to face me on my floating platform. I walk towards the ground as I create little round-trip portals under my feet, which make it feel like I'm walking in an invisible staircase. I look at the weapons stand. He follows my gaze.
-And what do you think of that?- I retort the sarcasm too soon and snap my fingers. At the same time, I teleport a millimeter from the entire weapons booth to a place he won't notice. As a result, a thin clean cut appears on the weapons stand and the top part completely dismounts after a few seconds.
- Well, can you repeat it with something more resistant?- He inquire taking the Nova helmet off his head and throwing it towards me. He'll regret it, Nova Dendarian helmets are almost national treasures. But come on, he asked.
I teleport half the helmet still in the air to one of my hands, then interrupt the teleport midway and take the remaining half with the other hand.
A clean and quick cut.
Dendarian Ruf looks at me in disbelief with his mouth open. He drops to his knees on the floor and can only say - Shit. -
