Kapitel 171: The broken mirror (2)

Regina nearly dropped everything in her hands when she saw the mirror upon her return. She placed the tray of jewels on the table and walked over to Marlena who was standing beside the vanity, staring at the broken mirror in horror. "What happened?" she asked. 

It took a few seconds for Marlena to process her question and turn to her, horror still written all over her face. "I don't know. I was only trying to adjust my corset. It's way too tight." 

Regina knew her way too well, which is how she knew the young woman was lying. But when she tried to think of any other reason for the mirror to break, she couldn't come up with any. 

So although it bugged her, she pretended to believe what Marlena had given as an explanation. She took Marlena's hand and guided her away from the broken shards. 

"Forget about it. I'll clean the shards later after you leave. The queen has ordered you to wear these."
