Gamama didn't waste time in pulling Ike to her, holding him firmly in her arms to control his shaking and forcing the medicine down his throat.
She finally laid him back on the bed when his struggling ceased. Risa who was already by the bed, quickly turned him over. Brown liquid ran down the corner of his mouth.
"Ike--say 'Mama'." Her voice was trembling slightly as she shook him. Ike laid still in her arms, his eyes shut tight. "I--I need you to say 'Mama'." Her voice was filled with urgency this time.
