Kapitel 26: Dead
Zane nodded his head letting Shane know that he had believed him, He walked away continuing his exercise running around the farm to keep his cardio up completing around forty laps. The first ten he lightly jogged, the second ten he picked up the pace, sprinting on the last twenty exhausting himself completely. the forty laps took a bit out of him, he let out rugged breathes struggling to get air into his lungs. Composing himself, after a moment or two he quickly walked over to some water taking a drink hydrating himself.
Afterwards he headed over to a tree, using it as a makeshift punching bag delivering fearsome blows onto the poor chunk of wood. He continued until his hands bleed stopping only after then he delivered even fiercer kicks onto the tree, after a while he figured he had done enough kicks he pulled out the pocket knife his parent had given him before carl had gotten shot. He practiced stabbing, and slashing making every move he completed look perfect. as he had finished his last strike he heard someone speak.
"You're pretty nice with a blade kid." Daryl said genuinely surprised by the boy's skill with a knife, Zane looked at the man not answering for a second. "Thanks." he said answering after a while, walking away from the man just as quick not looking back, "Who pissed in your apple juice? You Grumpy brat." Daryl said walking away as well not pursuing the conversation. Zane heard the man but said nothing, walking over to his tent wiping his face with a piece of cloth ridding himself of the sweat that had clung to his body. Seeing his mother wake up he walked away, heading over to to a car shane was sitting in surrounded by the men of the group.
Zane walked over hearing the last bit of his father's and hershel's son conversation talking about where to search for Sophia, hearing them talk about this made him feel guilty but he steeled himself he was being way to emotional and that would get him killed that he knew. He walked over to them "The search is pointless she's dead." he stated bluntly, Rick looked at his son shocked, "W-We don't, we don't know that son. She could still be out there we have to find her if she is." Zane looked at his father with cold eyes "She's dead, you really think she could survive all on her own with no adults. For this long maybe me or carl could. But sophia Now that wishful thinking." Zane finished of with a dry chuckle.
Rick was stunned silent by his son's attitude while shane understood what he was trying to do, Daryl became angry "Seriously who the fuck, pissed in your apple juice? You brat!! The girl is alive and I'm gonna find her!!" he said ready to walk away, "This is useless we are wasting time resources on a dead girl, this is gonna get us all killed She's fucking dead." Zane said angrily walking away, when his father tried to grab him he shrugged it off heading to the Greene residence to see Carl. He walked into his brothers room expecting to see what always greeted him now days when it came to his twin brother, But to his surprise Carl was awake trying to stand up.
Zane seeing this quickly ran over to his brother pushing him back down into the bed "No, no, no, don't get up you have to let your body heal." Carl looked at him angrily, "I don't need you babying me mom's doing a great job already." he said with an annoyed sigh. Zane nodded "I'm sorry, just worried about you." Zane said not looking at him, to which carl pulled him into a hug "I'm gonna be fine." Zane broke from the embrace nodding, and for a while sat there talking to his brother about things' he had missed. Carl listened thoroughly, nodding his head. Zane told him about almost everything except Otis and Sophia he didn't think he could handle that right now he would eventually tell his brother he couldn't hide much from him as they couldn't lie to each other very well.
