They were all there. John, Dylan, Blake, Tony and Ian. All together in the same dressing room again.
"I can't believe you booked Printworks for this." Pearl whispered.
"Only the best for my girl and her kids." Dylan said, squeezing her hand. She adjusted her leather pants and watched as he boys walked out on stage, waving to a cheering crowd. Rhys and Jason stood at the edge of the stage and high-fived them all. They had been a part of it in the beginning and deserved to be a part of the show, they had all agreed.
"Welcome London!! We are happy to have you here for the Poems for Wolves 20 year reunion show!" The announcer said. The crowd roared. The place could house 6,000 people and it was at max capacity. Alex and Isla along with Christian and the rest of the family were backstage with Fi, Janie, Iris, Maggie and Auggie. It was so surreal for them to see their mom like this.
Ian played to opening riff to their most popular song and the crowd's response was insane. Pearl began to sing and they went even more wild. Alex cheered and smiled. Pearl looked back at him and smiled. After the first song, she thanked the crowd for coming out. They sang a couple more of their originals and then she told them she had a special guest to help them play The Rolling Stones song she sang with Mick Jagger years ago.
"Please welcome my son, Alex!" She said. Alex looked confused. Dylan grabbed him and handed him his Les Paul guitar. Alex knew every Stones song so it was no problem at all but his stage fright was. The surprise of having him play didn't give him much time to worry about it.
He played the opening chords of Satisfaction and the crowd cheered. They all sang it together, even Blake sang along while banging on the drums. It was an amazing night. They all took their final bow after their last encore. Pearl smiled and bowed and looked over at Dylan standing next to her. He looked like something was wrong. She felt panic set in. He walked up to the microphone. "Thank you all!" He said. "And now, if you'll offer me your ear, there's something I'd like to do." He turned to Pearl and smiled. Pearl felt her heart race.
"Pearl, you are my best friend and the love of my life. I've waited 20 years for this moment. Marry me." He said. The crowd went silent for a moment. She knew they were all waiting for her answer.
"I finally know what the poets tried to explain for centuries but never could. Because you can't put this into words. This real thing. It's tangible yet mythical. It's all consuming. You can't describe it. You can only feel it. And when you do, I only pray it's a fraction of what I feel for her." He said to the crowd. It was from the journal he had given her in her tiny apartment so many years ago. She felt the tears fall down her cheek.
"Marry me." He said. "Grow old with me."
"Yes" she whispered.
"What's that? Was that a yes? I think she said yes!" Dylan said with a smile. She nodded and the crowd cheered. He picked her up and spun her around.
Alex cheered and everyone ran onto the stage, hugging them.

The early morning Wyoming mountain air went deep into Pearl's lungs, crisp and clean. Dylan sat down in the rocking chair next to her, handing her a cup of coffee and pulling a blanket over her legs.
"Good morning, my Pearl." He said.
"Good morning, my Dylan." She said, putting her hand on his. They looked out across the ranch, the tall grass moving in the breeze and the horses eating and running around the corral.
"Are you happy?" He asked.
"Completely." She said with a smile.
He smiled back and sighed. "Me, too."
