Shiro had been following the men in white lab coats for a few minutes. She had been reading a book when they came to call her from her quarters. They told her that she was being moved to a new place where she could be taken special care of, since the training seemed to be too basic for her. Although it wasn't shown on her face or in any physical form, she was excited to have been recognised by the scientists.
She was brought to a small empty room, where she saw a boy sitting down on the ground. He looked bored out of his mind which wasn't a rare sight for a white room student. His dark black hair was rough and unkempt. He was a tiny bit taller than Shiro, with olive skin and a cute face. At the sight of new comers, the boy stood up immediately and walked towards the scientists, and looked up at them.
"We've brought your new... playmate as we told you."
One of the scientists said, pointing to the white haired girl.
"This here is Daichi. He is from the 3rd generation and he will be your current partner."
Shiro analysed Daichi from head to toe and she was not impressed. She looked up to the white room scientists then asked
"Excuse me, but I thought I would be sent to Ayanokoji Kiyotaka first."
"... "
The scientists quietly looked at one another, then shrugged. One of them wrote something down on his notepad and they exited the room, leaving the two alone. After what seemed like minutes simply staring at the boy, Shiro sat down, her back against the cold walls and let out a sigh, waiting for what next test she would be given.
She was surprised when the boy came up to her and sat before her, cross-legged. His jade green eyes peered into hers, and she replied in kind with her fierce red.
"What's your name?"
"... Shiro."
"Shiro, huh? I guess that makes sense. Your eyes are red. Lenses?"
"Yes."
"Your hair... will you dye it white later on?"
"Hmm? Why do you ask?"
"Well, the stands of black and white are nice, but one colour would suffice, don't you think?"
"..."
"Want to play a game?"
The girl, having nothing to do, nodded.
"It's called Rock-Paper-Scissors. You know how to play?"
"... Yes."
"Oh ok, that's good then. Let's play."
"No."
"Why? You already agreed."
"I thought you meant chess or checkers or something of the sort."
"Huh? Why would I want to play such boring game? I'd rather play something fun like Rock-Paper-Scissors, wouldn't you agree?"
"No."
"Why?"
"Because it's pointless."
"How is this game pointless?"
"I don't see the need. It's not like chess or checkers. The men in white wouldn't want us wasting our time on such things."
"Who cares what they want?"
The boy sounded scornful which made Shiro curious as to why he would say something or sound like that.
"..."
"Rock-Paper-Scissors is my favorite game. You know why?"
"No. Why?"
"Because..."
