Kapitel 98: An eye opener

The following day when Caroline got up, she could feel a strange pit in her stomach. A weird sense of emptiness started gripping her. 

In just a couple of weeks, that man had become the center of her universe, and now he was just a memory to fondly remember by.

Getting ready, she picked up her stuff and motivated herself hard in front of the mirror, a part of her lamenting herself as she had forgotten that she was a doctor first and a human next.

"Everything all right with you, my child?" Benjamin asked as she looked lost, sitting on the breakfast counter.

"Everything is fine, Gramps!" She plastered a smile and stuffed herself with the fluffy French toast he had prepared.

"Should I pack a few for Morpheous too?" Benjamin asked and leaned over the counter, and she could see a mischievous grin on his face. Seeing him this happy and engaged with her love life, she couldn't bear to break the news to him, but she knew that eventually, she had to.
