Kapitel 15: Helvard - Tale of Two Lovers
"Are you sure this is okay with the Jarl?" her voice is sweet like jazbay, I yearn to hear it every second of the day. Her hair, the color of a light honey, bounces with every step as it pours around her shoulders and down her back. The eyes that stare into mine with shyness shine a forest green with red tinges, and she smells of snowberries.
"It's fine, I've stationed someone to guard the Jarl tonight, just so I could see you." I tell her. It's true, I did get a guard to watch him and he did great during training. Her eyes begin to sparkle in front of me and her smile widens.
She's the most beautiful creature I've ever seen. She's a Bosmer, but I don't care. We met a fortnight or two ago, and I've been smitten with her ever since. She fell for me shortly after as well, I can't even begin to thank Mara. I've been doing whatever I can to see her every day and I can tell that some of the townspeople don't like that, Dengeir most of all. 'A housecarl should focus on his duty, and his duty alone,' he'd sneer. I can never do anything about it though, he's Jarl Siddgeir's uncle.
"Come on, I want to show you something!" She tugs on my arm and pulls me along as she tries to run up a hill. She's barefoot, and her white dress will get stains if she continues like this. With one fell swoop, she's in my arms and we're gazing into each other's eyes. I can see her cheeks turn rosy as I carry her up the hill. She points out where she was trying to go as I hold her close.
Once I reach the top of the hill I set her down and stare at what is before me. It's an ordinary waterfall, nothing very special about it. I look down at her and she smiles up to me.
"It looks ordinary now, but just wait." She giggles and sits down, patting the grass beside her. I sit next to her and feel her hair envelope around my right shoulder and arm as she lays her head on me.
I wait and watch as the skies darken while the most beautiful woman I've ever known hums beside me. It isn't long before it's completely dark out and that's when she quiets. I watch her as her head perks up and she tugs on my breastplate, pointing toward the waterfall. I look up to see torchbugs have come out for the night and are lighting up the waterfall to reflect blue and green colors.
"Isn't it beautiful?" her whisper breaks the silence. I look at her, watching the colors reflect on her skin and dress.
Placing my arm around her, I whisper back my answer.
"Yes."
I can see her cheeks turn slightly rosy as she buries her face behind her hair. The two of us watch the torchbugs for what seems like an eternity while we steal glances of each other.
I blink and suddenly I'm on my back staring up at the stars, I can feel the warmth of her beside me. She points out constellations to me as we both nod off to sleep.
A cool breeze blows over my face, waking me from my sleep. Sunlight begins to stream over my face and I feel a slight pressure on my right bicep. Turning my head, I come face to face with a soft face that holds green eyes staring back at me. I mouth the words I'm terrified to say out loud; I love you.
I watch and wait for her to respond, my heart pounding out of my chest. "I love you too." she whispers softly. I can feel a smile breaking across my face as I lean in to kiss her on the forehead. Pulling away I can see a grin and her cheeks rosier than ever. "Thank you for the wonderful night." Her voice is softer than ever, I almost don't hear it.
"Anything, for you." I sit up, pulling my boots back on my feet to get ready to go back to work. I can hear her rustling behind me, and then warmth on my back and around my shoulders.
"Do you have to go so soon?" There's sadness in her voice, and I wish I could take it away but this was the deal.
"I have to be in early this morning. The Jarl has really important things to take care of and I need to be there." I yawn. "Why am I still so tired?"
"Well, it's really early and we didn't sleep for that long." I can hear her giggle in my ear. "I'm sure the walk back to town will wake you up."
"I certainly hope so." I chuckle as I turn to face her. I stare into her eyes as I lean in closer. Our lips meet sooner than I thought they would, I guess she wanted to kiss as well. I place a hand on her left cheek and she places a hand over mine. Pulling away, I stare into her eyes. "You are the most beautiful woman I have ever met, and I'm lucky to have you by my side, Ghel." I confess. I've wanted to say this to her since I first learned she fancied me too.
I see her smile and her eyes tearing up as she whispers back "You have made me feel the way I thought I would never be able to feel again, and I am so grateful for that. Thank you." I place my forehead to hers and hold it there for as long as I can.
It wasn't long before his body went limp and draped itself over Ghel, who lay him down gently. As she places Nightshade in his hands, she notices small wet spots on his head. Lifting a hand up to her face, she wipes a tear from under her eye and examines it. Strange, she thinks.
