Narfi stared at the waters in the creek of Ivaarstead. Rheyda. He thought of her often. His sister went missing a few years ago, and no one could find her. She had left to gather herbs and never returned. Wilhelm was kind to him, no one else had the time for Narfi. A kind stranger, a cat, had visited him recently and brought her amulet to him. Rheyda was gone, she had left the earthly realm and the kind stranger told him how she passed.
He stared into the creek, thinking of his sister wondering why she would leave him when he heard a twig snap. He turned and saw a Wood Elf watching him. The elf was female, and of a slender frame. She possessed a pair forest green eyes and a head of long shimmering sandy blonde hair. It hid some of her face, and her ears poked out from it. They were strange though, most elves' ears pointed up while hers pointed down.
"Hello." Narfi spoke plainly. He watched as the Wood Elf smiled kindly upon him.
"Greetings. Who are you?" She spoke with a soothing voice, it reminded him of Rheyda's. He turned and faced his body towards her.
"I am Narfi." He was quiet for a few seconds before he asked "Who are you?" The elf's eyes lit up and she spoke excitedly. With her eyes opened wider, a second color was revealed. There was an orange ring around the outer iris of her eyes that made them look like a burning forest.
"My name is Ghel, it is a pleasure to meet you Narfi." She stepped closer and closer until she stood next to him, looking down into the rippling waters of the creek. "It's beautiful, isn't it?"
Narfi turned back towards the creek and looked down at them. They were pretty but they reminded him of Rheyda, which made him sad. "Rheyda.." he whimpered. He continued to watch the waters, watching his reflection morph and ripple in the creek. He looked closer and saw the Wood Elf Ghel standing behind him. She is smiling still, and he watched as she raised her hands. Narfi whimpered as she placed one hand on his back and the other on his head, forcing him to his knees.
"I can show you Rheyda," she whispered as Narfi's head moved closer and closer to the waters. "You'll see her soon, I promise." Her voice is still soothing, and the last of them are muffled as his head is submerged. He doesn't struggle, what's the use? The guard on the bridge wouldn't hear him, and everyone was asleep. He could feel the air leaving his lungs as he slowly lost consciousness. Rheyda.
Ghel looked down at Narfi and sighed. His lifeless body lay half in the water and half on land.
"Nothing personal kid, just business." She pulled her hood and mask over her face then dragged him out of the water. After placing a single Nightshade flower on his chest, she stepped back into the darkness.
