Kapitel 42: Helsen.

I managed to get other additional information from Evaldi's diary about Niflheim, one of which relates to the enemy that I must overtake, the damned bridge keeper, Helson.

According to the information here, Helsen was indeed a hybrid between a Troll and a Frost Giant, and since he was born here in Niflheim, Evaldi thought it was interesting to raise him.

Especially since he could have utilized Niflheim's power naturally, in fact, Evaldi had contemplated forming a connection with Niflheim because of Helsen's special ability.

This was several tens of thousands of years ago, in the last record in Evaldi's diary, Helsen was not the keeper of the bridge yet, so I don't know what made Helsen choose this business, maybe it was because Hil, or Odin, or he just wanted to do it, But that wasn't really important.

I also got a map of this area of Niflheim, this world didn't have a true limits, so it wasn't possible to make a global map, the laws of physics don't really matter.

I also found some old weapons, apparently used and of low durability, but getting a weapon was better than my bare hands, so I chose the best sword I found and enchanted it with runes.

However, after Fafnir saw it, I couldn't help but let him take it, because he also did not like to insert his claws into other creatures, so I could only continue to rely on my magic and my fists.

I also studied Evaldi's spells for a while, especially the spell of establishing contact with Niflheim, if I could do this, it would be similar to how Mephisto conquered Hell, and how Odin is stronger in Asgard, and because Hellheim and Niflheim are two different layers, my control over Nevelheim will be Completely outside of Hela awareness and she won't be able to discover me if she don't try to do so.

After understanding the basic theory behind these rituals, I quickly formed a connection with this realm, while I could not be considered the master of Niflheim is yet, and it will be easy for an experienced mage to cut this connection, but I can slowly reinforce it later.

So, after that we went out of the workshop and continued our journey towards the Bridge of the Damned, of course I did not forget something important, which is the coffin that contains the corpse of Hildr, no matter how unhappy I am, this Valkyrie definitely deserves a proper funeral in Asgard, and this is what I intend to Give it to her.

While I was carrying Hildr's coffin, Fafnir's duty was to kill and destroy most of the enemies we encountered. The undeads were not a problem with his sword and claws, but I had to deal with ghosts and spirits personally.

After nearly two more days of continuous walking and fighting, we finally approached the Bridge of the Damned. We would have reached much faster if I had not carried a third passenger, but not as if we were in a hurry for some reason.

The bridge itself was very wide, and there was no toxic fog in it or in the surrounding area, which I considered a kind of blessing, the bridge was surrounded by a stone wall with an open gate made of iron bars, this place is clearly very old because I could have See graffiti in a language that is no longer used for tens of thousands of years.

Also, I could see Helsen from where I was here, he was sitting on the ground in front of the bridge but behind the gate, while a Sword-axe made of stone lay beside him.

Judging by his appearance, he was two meters tall and much like the Frost Giants, with his bluish-gray skin and fangs made of ice, and he wore a helmet with metal horns.

I put Hildr's coffin in the ground and said to Fafnir as I took the sword out of his hand, "Watch her well, okay?"

"As long as our friend is over there end soon, I don't think he can cause any harm to the sleeping beauty here."

I looked at him from the side and couldn't believe he had said such a bad joke about a dead person, but I think this is to be expected given that he is a rotting corpse himself.

After looking at Helsen for a few seconds, I started walking with fast steps towards him. After less than a minute, I came out of the fog and entered through the iron gate.

Helsen opened his eyes at this moment and stood while holding his Sword-axe, said in a dark, rough voice as if he did not belong to a sane creature, "Another imprisoned, at last, killed, runaway."

When I heard his words, I couldn't help but wrinkle my eyebrows, although he was not happy, but it seemed as if he had been waiting for someone else to try to pass for a long time.

At first, I would have tried to talk to him first, but now I think someone like this will only understand violence, after all he's been guarding the bridge of the damned for a long time and he won't just leave me pass because I asked so gently.

Helsen looked at me for a moment cautiously before rushing towards me at his maximum speed, covering the few meters that were between us in an instant and raising his weapon upwards before dropping it towards me with all his might, I immediately turned my sword back before waving it at the Helsen weapon.

When the two weapons collided, Helsen and me were both pushed back one step, and while our exchange was even, my arm felt numb.

He is strong ... As I began to calculate the force behind this hit, by taking into account his shape, body and size, I could say that he was at least 7th rank, and he was not slow either as his speed was at least 90 mph.

Before Helsen took his step back, he used his weight to push himself forward as he waved his Sword-axe toward me again, as I ignored the numbness in my arm and swung my sword pointed towards him.

We did this several more times before I walked back, and since I was much faster than him and he couldn't stop me, I tried to go to the gate in order to set a trap for him, but before I walked through it he pointed to the gate and it closed very quickly.

I couldn't help but look at him intently, was this one of his natural abilities or some kind of Mind magic? While I was interested, I didn't let my mind wander and kick the wall in order to maintain my momentum and turn.

I hurried towards him and swung at him with my sword with all my raw power, while he could block my attack with his ax sword, but I could push him back several steps.

I put my arm and sword back in order to deal a fatal blow at Helsen, but he suddenly slammed a little forward, which resumed his face and hit his foot hard on the ground.

When he did this, a wave of blue energy was sent towards me, when it passed me a thin layer of frost appeared on my body - thanks to my magical resistance - and before I could respond, Helsen disappeared into a white light.

I immediately applied a certain amount of divine energy to shake off the frost.

At this moment, my senses picked up (aided by acceleration of thoughts and parallel thought) someone attempting to attack me from behind, I could turn quickly but didn't have the time to block this attack, so I could only drain my divine energy and create an energy Field around me.

When Helsen's attack couldn't penetrate my energy field, I smiled inwardly and canceled the energy field, and extended my left hand forward and used the Aard rune.

A telekinetic wave of white runes was spread from my hand and Helsen was thrown back several meters.

But I didn't stop here, and I used all of my magical energy, even my divine energy, to strengthen my body and my sword, and I darted towards Helsen at my maximum speed and swung toward his chest with my strongest physical strength.

One moment passed and he heard the sound of Helsen's body crashing into the frosty floor.
