Kapitel 55: Chapter 55: The Face in the Dark

*The clash between the young Killicks and their friend's captors had taken a very strange turn. Kaleb who was about to slit Kail Sho's throat suddenly found himself immobilized without being able to do anything. But even worse it looks like he fell into a trance-like state seeing how his eyes rolled back. He was still standing with Dagur's sword in hand but he was just inches away from his opponent. On his side Kail had his stick planted in the ground and seemed to be immobilized too*.

-But what did he do to her? *Screams Dagfinn*. Kaleb WAKE UP.

-Little shit don't look away.

*She punched his head hard but he leaned over to dodge it and kicked back. She took the attack in her ribs and Dagfinn slipped away from her to join Kaleb. Tatum then showed up and planted with his dagger but Dagfinn grabbed him by the arm and pulled him towards him to headbutt him violently. Tatum took a few steps back with a bloody nose and Dagfinn pounced on him, slapping him in each ear. The young man lost his balance and fell to the ground. After which the young boy jumped on his friend but barely was in the air when he felt a pressure on his leg. Shuri grabbed it*.

-It's very rude to leave a room without the permission of elder.

*She slammed him against the wall a second time and he crashed into it, shaking the cave. Dagfinn on the ground was completely bleeding*.

-Damn that bitch is really strong. *he thought*.

- Can you get up? *she asked Tatum*.

- Yes... Finally I believe.

*He got up but still staggered just as much*.

-I'm going to kill his friend and we'll finish him off.

-Especially not. *Shouted Kail Sho*. No one approaches her during the ritual it takes time to break her spirit. But his fighting spirit is still present, if you ever approach him he will wake up and lash out in a mad rage.

-Tch we will take care of him then. *Said Tatum*. It is worth nothing.

- No, you stay behind. *Shuri says*. You're the only one who doesn't have a relic on you. And then I'm going to do it myself without having to use mine.

* Dagfinn who had managed to rest momentarily got up little by little from the debris of rocks. He stared at Shuri still in front of him then at Kaleb who was doing nothing*.

-You're talking about breaking his spirit aren't you, but that kind of stuff doesn't work on the Killicks. *he says*. Mind control spells are ineffective against us.

-This one was launched with a relic. *says Sho*. And I show him a traumatic event in his life.

-An event... *he laughed slightly*. Do you think Kaleb was traumatized by something?

-Everyone has been through something scary. Absolutely everyone has something deep in their soul that scares them. *says Sho*. The Killicks especially since this spell has a 100% success rate on them.

* Traumatic events, it's true that no Killick can boast of having lived a Clean childhood. And even worse when it comes to our parents, for Dagfinn, if Kaleb relives the scenes where everything was distorted in his mind he could well and truly crack*.

-Holy shit I don't have time to play with you *He says*.

*He took off his tunic leaving only his tank top then he grew his claws*.

-Kaleb, do you hear me? *he shouted*. If you can hear me don't drop your fucking sword, is that clear?

*The bloodstains began to evaporate as the wounds closed. Dagfinn's hair stood on end as her Efrat rose slightly around her body.*

-We didn't want to use it in combat because it risked collapsing the cavity, but this is an emergency. *He said annoyed*. Come with everything you've got or I'll seriously mess you up.

*Shuri smirked seeing that he was serious. She rushed at him at full speed and tried to grab him but Dagfinn suddenly disappeared from her sight and she felt a huge pain in her chest. He had dodged and hit her so hard that she was drooling in pain.

-Take your relic. Or you'll be badly hurt. *He tells her calmly*.

- You dirty...

*Dagfinn zipped up to Tatum and did a lariat in his throat. The blow threw him against the wall and he almost passed out. He felt his breath leave him as his throat was almost crushed *.

-It's..... It's not true... *He articulated with difficulty*.

-I had heard of your power which manifests itself in the form of a colored aura but so far none of the Killicks I have faced have used it. *Said Shuri getting up*.

*She pulls her sword out of the ground and swings it around before warning him*.

-Such a drastic change in a weakling like you, that says a lot. Finished playing I move on to serious things.

*Her aura also exploded but without taking into account the cave, it was really huge, but who knows why Dagfinn was so calm. He had retrieved Tatum's dagger which he gently pointed in her direction*.

- Oh are you serious?

-Hurry up, attack fail product of Killick. I have a friend woke up.

*She gets angry once more hearing the word Killick and jumps in his direction. But while she was surprised that Dagfinn succeeded in parrying her attack, he was surprised to see his friend's hand tremble, for a moment he almost released his weapon *.

- No, don't do that. *He yelled*

- How much longer do you think you'll ignore me?

*She gave a violent punch in the head of the young man but instead of throwing him away as usual he did not move from the ground, moreover he turned his head towards her and gave her a cold look*.

- If you want attention I'll give it to you.

*Kaleb*

*I haven't felt anything for a while now. Why am I suddenly cold is something rare, winter has not yet arrived in Adje as far as I know*.

-Your highness your mother the queen wants you in the training room.

*Huh... Thaaarsis? But what... What is she doing there in front of me?*.

-Highness? Young Prince Kaleb?

-Oh yes yes I'm going.

*It makes no sense. Why do I feel like I'm forgetting something. After changing I went as usual in the training room. My mother was waiting for me there with a saber in her hand.*

-I am here mother.

-Take a sword. *She said without giving me the slightest look*.

-Yes.

*The training was brutal, it always has been, she didn't hesitate to cut me and hurt me as long as I remember something*.

-Don't try to keep up with my speed, you'll never make it. Rather anticipate where your blows will land for...

*I blocked one of her attacks and she was surprised*.

-To be able to counter attacked. *I said*.

*Taking advantage of the brief moment she was surprised, I jumped at her head and slashed her face with a vertical slash*.

-I succeeded, I touched you, mother. *I cried happy*.

*No wait, I've been through this before, the last time my mom told me....*

- You dirty urchin you squarely targeted my head, and more my face.

- No, I didn't want to...

*Stop justifying yourself moron she doesn't want to hear that*.

-I'm sorry, mother, I thought...

-You brat. *she shouted*.

*She gave me a violent kick in the chest and I went through the wall, landing in the hallway. The blow was so violent that I cried tears of blood and even spat a lot. That said, I'll regenerate within 3 good hours at the most. I heard my panicked mother rush at me*.

-Oh no Kaleb... I'm sorry what have I done? *She said in tears*.

*She planted her claws in my chest and tried to infuse me with her Efrat to heal me. A process that few Killicks master but my mother was an expert in handling Efrat. After this unfortunate incident I had the whole day for me and me alone*.

-It's strange I've already lived this day I'm sure.

*While I was on the balcony I could see in the distance a young man with red hair training with his mother*.

-Sheehan? I thought he took the right tunnel... What the...

*My skull hurts like hell why nothing seemed normal today. The decor changed again, I felt like a spectator, a prisoner of my own body. I thus found myself in front of the Gaols with the guards refusing to let me pass*.

-I remember I had heard that a monster was in the dungeon and that we had to get away from it as much as possible.

-Your majesty you can't go further *Says the Guard*.

-If you don't let me in, I'll tell my mother about your insubordination.

- She's the one who told us to restrict this access to the castle.

*I remember leaving without asking for my rest. But the Killick is stubborn, I came back the night when the guard was out drinking with his friends. I entered the dungeon and I went around the cells before falling on one in particular. It was marked on the sign *.

-Attention spirit of Fury.

*What's going on, why am I suddenly in control of my body? Oh shit don't tell me it's going to start again? Why is the door open? When did I open it? In the back of the room I could barely make out the thing, it was a ghostly shadow a mist and there was a face in the darkness*.

- But what .... Oh damn.

*I think I felt that day what young humans feel when they are chased by rabid dogs, I was extremely afraid I would run with all my might through the castle. I was being chased by a fucking ferocious beast screaming behind me. The Face in the darkness, I remember it traumatized me for quite a while when I was younger, and today the ferocious beast is still chasing me. He wants to finish what he started*.

-DO NOT APPROACH.

*Dagfinn*.

* Damn it's starting to get hot, Kaleb is literally swimming in delirium and this woman is getting more and more annoying. If I had a sword I would have sent this fight, at least that's what I tell myself, but the female dog defends herself *.

- Get out of my fucking way. *I yelled giving him a powerful blow*.

*She takes a few steps back but immediately returns to the charge*.

- You'll have to kill me for that.

-MALAKA. *I shout*.

*I'm fed up. Since that's how I'm going to bury them all. I activated my energy again but at full power, I felt my body crack and then I remember that Kaleb and I were exhausted from having crossed the city all night at full power. But what excuses, she charged me at full power*.

-Being Albino does not only have disadvantages. *My uncle Lerch told me*. No Albino can handle the Efrat but you can. You're a rather special case but in truth your father before you had also accomplished this feat.

-My father ?

-By your nature, your room for improvement will be much wider than that of others, you will have to make considerable efforts. *he says*. But I can assure you that your efforts will be rewarded. Besides, I'm confiding a secret to you on the condition that you keep it to yourself, ok?

*I nodded yes*.

-Albinos produce more Efrat than regular Killicks. The rest is to control and dose.

*What I did, I focused all my energy and circulated it through my whole body. My senses were awake like never before and I saw the attack coming in slow motion. In a violent exchange our blades clashed several times, causing the walls around us to crack and the ground beneath our feet to crumble. Neither of us ceded the advantage to the other or lost focus. Alas the durability of my weapon, even reinforced by the Efrat had its limits. With the next blow, the relic was going to make contact with my dagger, I knew in advance that the blade was going to break and that it would decapitate me, so I made a feint. I walked over and grabbed her wrist instead. I did not give her time to be surprised by my gesture when I planted the blade in the tendon of her wrist which made her drop her weapon automatically, then with a more lively gesture I gave her a baleyette which forced her to get down on one knee and gave him an armbar before pressing her head against the ground with my leg*.

-You filthy rascal.

- Say goodbye to him.

*I tore off his right arm with a sharp flick of the dagger as his blood spurted in my face. She uttered a huge cry of pain*.

- That'll teach you, you bitch.

*Now let's take care of the most important. It's strange I felt the ground vibrate under our feet. I turned to Kaleb, he was still in a trance I was going to run to him but the woman laughed as she was lying on the ground*.

-It's useless, as he is now you can't do anything for him.

*Kaleb was sweating a lot, it looked like he was having a terrible nightmare, no it was worse than that a buried trauma that resurfaced*.

-Kaleb I beg you no matter what you see, no matter what you hear, it's not real.

-It's useless he has already accepted this dream as reality. *says Kail*.

-Don't come near, you filthy beast, don't come near me. *he yelled scared*.

*Damn how to help him.

? If this continues our prince will end up with his mind completely torn in pieces. Wait he did say he had accepted this reality and he seemed to be chased by a beast*.

-Kaleb. *I screamed again*. You look ridiculous to me running away like that. I thought you were the proud prince of the Killicks but a single monster is enough to scare you.

- Useless I say...

*We noticed the grip of his hand tightening progressively around his sword*.

-I suspected a proud guy like him could not remain insensitive. *I thought*. KALEB, I don't know who's chasing you, but that idiot certainly doesn't want to live. He doesn't know how dangerous it is to rub shoulders with an elite warrior, especially a warrior on your side. Scary as it is, it remains deadly.

*I felt Kaleb's hand gradually tighten around Dagur's blade*.

- I ask you, does not a blow of the sword make it flinch? Doesn't he bleed like any living creature? Show this madman what it takes to go after an elite warrior. Show him how fearsome a Killick with a sword is.

*The room suddenly started shaking, his Efrat exploded to make the walls around us shake. Kaleb still in a trance says*.

-You're right, I don't know why I'm burying myself in front of you. I just have to kill you to make you disappear, that's stupid.

-Damn he's breaking the spell. *shouted the man with the stick*. You two don't stay here.

*As he was about to retire he felt his body fall to the ground. His legs had just been severed as Kaleb grabbed his upper body by the throat. I approached slowly but I stopped short. I was surprised to see tears on Kaleb's face, but they were angry tears.

-You bastard you pushed me to relive something so painful. You have no idea how horrible that was. Why did you do that, why?

-Haha... The great warrior Killick is also afraid of his mother, huh. *he scoffed*. As we all. Is she the beast chasing you? The face in the dark?

*Kaleb cried out in rage and soaked his sword in Efrat he was about to strike with all his might when he heard a voice*.

-KALEB?

*He turned his head in the direction of one of the cavities, I can't believe my eyes. Phina, and Emory. They escaped, but How?*

-Emory?

-Kaleb...

-Fiiiinn

-Phina

*Suddenly we heard again the ground crack under our feet and the roof too. Instinctively I jumped on Phina and took her in my arms to protect her and Kaleb did the same with Emory. The ground gave way under our feet and we fell along with the stones of the ceiling. It was brutal but during our fall I saw the woman with red hair jump from rock to rock and recover her friend with the dagger. She is definitely resourceful. We end up falling into a cavity that was right under ours. Definitely this damn mountain was a big mess. We protected ourselves as best we could with our Efrat, when the dust settled I cleared the rocks by exploding my aura, Kaleb also had done the same *.

-Emory... Emory, are you okay, aren't you hurt?

- No, it's fine, but where are we?

-In a cavity below.

-Fiiiinn. *Screamed Phina jumping into my arms*. I was so scared you know.

-Everything is fine now, I won't leave you anymore.

-Without the help of the prince I would surely still be locked up.

-Ah well... Is it true what she says prince?

-Ah... *He said surprised*. Let's just say...

*A cry of rage burst in the mountain, and this cry came from our cavity. We then turned towards that direction and we could see an aura of Efrat but it was not ordinary, it was a mixture between ordinary blue and sheehan red and in the middle of this energy we could see * .

-DAGUR. *I yelled*. Da...

*I stopped short when I saw the carnage he had instigated, it was a real bloodbath. Strange again there was a young human at his feet, he had a crushed leg and his right hand under the foot of Dagur*.

-Dagur? You're okay ?

*This one turned slowly in our direction but I don't know why when he saw us his murderous intention was reinforced*.

-Kill... Killicks... Kill...

*He still won't attack us though. At that moment I turned my head towards Kaleb, he was frozen with terror like when he was in a trance*.

-Kaleb are you okay? *Asked Emory*.

-The... The... The face in the dark... It was you...

*What ? The beast in the dark is Dagur? Suddenly his gaze changed from anger to hatred and his Efrat intensified*.

-It was you BASTARD. I WILL KILL YOU.

*To be continued*

*While everyone seemed to have found each other Sheehan when he finally got lost. The young Killick by dint of exploring all the cavities had found himself in a room leading clearly towards the exit of the mountain. Just behind you could clearly see the forest behind Salomeh*.

-Hey shit it's not my day. I should have taken it upstairs.

*Suddenly he heard whispers coming from the nearby cavity*.

- Come on, keep moving the exit is this way.

*They were all surprised to find Sheehan standing right in front of the exit of the cave, he himself couldn't believe that so many humans had managed to get out*.

- Oh but what? *he said surprised*. It's not your lucky day.

*Among them was a somewhat chubby man with an unshaven face and a shaved head, given his clothes he was a monk from Azuros. He stepped forward while everyone else was bruised with fear*.

-I beg you, let us go. These people didn't do anything to you, and you don't have to.

*Sheehan cracked his shoulders and let out a jaded sigh before getting into a fighting stance*.

- No, it's really not your lucky day.
