Kapitel 1: Summoning

"Getting lost is not a waste of time. To travel is to evolve."

-Pierre Bernard

----------------------

The first day of high school. An important event that occurs once in a person's life. As with the start of any school, it meant the same thing: the start of another major trial for children. The first few days, most especially the first day, are vital in deciding your standing within the school. You either make friends and enjoy your time at school or fail at socializing, signaling the start of a tragic next three years.

However, for him, the first day didn't happen as expected. Rather, it would change his life in more than just determining his social rank in school.

It all began when he ventured into the classroom of 1-D. All was normal as he sat down at the back of the room, near the window. The classroom was halfway filled with students, either immersed in socializing or meddling with school supplies in preparation for class.

Ayanokouji sighed deeply as he thought about his lack of success in making friends. In the end, he couldn't talk to anyone at all. What even were friends? Is it something that occurs naturally over time after meeting someone? Is it a spontaneous notion that just clicks? Or does it happen over a shared meal? The more he thought about it, the more he wondered: Is it something deep and meaningful? Does it hinge on feelings or self-interest?

His thoughts were in utter disarray as questions raged in his mind. Before he could sink any more into his ponderings, a voice broke him out of the haze.

"That was quite a heavy sigh, considering the school year has only begun. Meeting you again makes me want to sigh."

Oh, it was that girl from the bus stop.

"So, we were placed in the same class, huh?" Ayanokouji mumbled.

It wasn't surprising as there were only four classes for the entire first-years. It wasn't statistically impossible for this to happen.

"Nice to meet you. I'm Ayanokouji Kiyotaka."

With the same stone-cold face, she responded, "You just went ahead and introduced yourself?"

"Well, this is the second time we've spoken. Isn't it fine for me to do so?"

This was his chance. He wanted to introduce himself to someone anyway, so at least one person knew his name. Besides, he had to know his neighbor's name. After all, she would be next to him for a year minimum.

Their conversation… err one-sided conversation continued till she eventually gave her name, Horikita Suzune. Even then, her words were still slightly barbed as they discussed the school and their fellow students. As the conversation died down, Horikita turned her attention towards her book, "Crime and Punishment," an interesting choice of literature that possibly reflected her own personality.

It was at that moment when everything changed. His planned calm and peaceful school life was suddenly turned upside down. A glowing silver circle engraved with various geometric patterns encircled Ayanokouji. Ancient runic symbols hovered in the air, glowing a bluish-white.

The rest of the students saw the peculiar ring as well, freezing briefly, staring at him. Someone called out, "Get out of there!" while Horikita asked with some shock, "Are you doing this?"

He couldn't answer as the magic circle, for lack of a better word, illuminated the room, growing in brightness until it was blinding to look at. The ring spun faster and faster, creating a blur of silver. The air hummed in power and created great pressure. Ayanokouji stood frozen as if paralyzed with a drug. He could only conclude the cause was the supernatural phenomenon.

After a few seconds or possibly minutes, the light began to fade, returning the classroom to normal for the most part. Desks were toppled, chairs were knocked over, and pencils scattered across the floor. However, there was one student missing, disappearing from the students' eyes.

After a few moments of silence, the bell rang, breaking everyone out of their stupor. Everyone was in a similar state of confusion except for two students. Two students who would later be part of what was known as the idiotic trio were thinking how lucky he was, guessing he was summoned to another world, like the protagonist of a light novel. Everyone else had the question, "What are we supposed to tell our teacher?"
