Kapitel 174: Frail mishap (1)

I was born weak. The doctors told my parents that I simply got the bad part of their genes. My birth had already been difficult and only through the luck of a high-level healer coincidentally being there did I make it.

But all the healing in the world apparently couldn't fix me. I was never sure if that was the truth but it truly didn't matter. Even if there had been ways to help me I certainly wouldn't have been able to get access to them.

Despite my body being somewhat unreliable I tried to enjoy my childhood.

My eyes were weak, making me unable to see things as well as others. But I could see enough to go to kindergarten so my parents didn't hesitate to admit me.

I was frail and didn't have the energy to run around with the other kids. They didn't mind and some would always stay with me and keep me company. I was happy at the time and forgot all about how bad my condition truly was.

After graduating from my kindergarten days I was admitted into school. I had been coping with my weakness well enough that the doctors believed I could take it.

That was when I found out that while my body was small and frail and unable to do most things I had the looks of what people called a little angel. All the boys were nice to me and offered to carry my stuff or help me if I couldn't do something on my own.

I wasn't especially gifted in an academic sense but my performance never let anyone complain. Due to my weak eyes since birth, my hearing had developed extraordinarily well. During music classes, my talent for singing was quickly revealed and the moniker of me being an angel was thoroughly cemented.

I was a bit of a sensation. A girl who could barely do anything with a voice that could make anyone go to their knees.

My parents naturally enjoyed the attention I got them. But my frail constitution made it impossible for me to make much of my talent. I simply couldn't take the strain of traveling to give concerts.

The years I spent in school weren't the happiest of my life. There were obvious setbacks that would happen to everyone. But I persisted and kept going.

When I was twelve a transfer student joined my class. She was a popular teen idol and had to change schools because she wanted to live closer to her production studio.

As a welcoming gift, she invited everyone to a private concert held just for us students. My condition kept me from going but all the others went.

I wasn't there that day so I don't know what exactly happened but from what I heard a student commented that my singing was superior to her's at the end of the concert.

The next day she confronted me and made sarcastic remarks about my absence. She accused me that I must have skipped her concert because I was thinking I was better than her. She went on repeating how superior I must think myself to be to simply disregard her invitation.

I calmly explained to her that the concert had been after school and my body's poor condition had not allowed me to go. In fact, I would have loved to go.

She didn't believe me and threw a tantrum. She flailed her arms and screamed like she was losing her mind.

A teacher happened to walk due to the noise. He saw her flail while standing close to me and harshly reprimanded her even threatening to call her parents.

Since that day the girl wouldn't talk to me and only sneak in passing remarks. She was certain that I was faking my frailness to get attention. Her words became more aggressive as the semester passed. I also began to notice that more and more boys stopped talking to me and avoided meeting my eyes.

The girl's also distanced themselves but at the time I thought nothing of it. I could understand that they would rather spend time with an upcoming successful idol. I didn't need as much attention as when I was younger.

I hadn't been met with much treachery so I was oblivious to the coming catastrophe. One day when I was carefully walking down the stairs after class I felt a hand push against my back followed by a laugh used only by a certain teen idol.

I fell down the stairs with a loud crash and remained sprawled out at the bottom of the stairs. I wanted to stand up and ask her why but my body wouldn't move.

My vision was swimming intensely and as the hurried steps of others arriving entered my ears my vision left me completely.

A teacher I knew arrived beside my body. He kneeled and turned me into a more comfortable position while asking if I was alright.

I answered him that I couldn't see or move my body below the neck but the voice I had intended to come out loud was reduced to a mere whisper. I tried to speak again but I could do nothing but force out a whisper.

The teachers called an ambulance and I was brought to the hospital with the sirens blaring like crazy. Before reaching the hospital I lost consciousness

The diagnosis I received a few days later made my world shatter. During the fall I had suffered heavy damage to my spinal cord. The doctors had tried their best but I would forever be unable to move my body below the neck.

Blunt force trauma to my head had worsened the damage to my visual senses causing me to lose my vision permanently.

And worst of all, I had somehow received a strong blow to the neck resulting in heavy damage to my vocal cords. My voice would remain a whisper till the day I died and I would never be able to sing again.

I felt like a dead person living. I couldn't leave my bed in the hospital and I couldn't be fixed.
