Kapitel 73: Tension in the air

"I object, My Lord. Samantha is going nowhere." Lily interjected, stunning everyone by her sudden involvement. The old woman seemed different, and unlike before when she had a head lowered, she was now facing the Lord, ready to confront him if needed.

"Lily," Susanne stepped forward, observing the King's expression. However, the man showed no change in his emotions. He just stared at the two women, his focus fixed on Samantha. "What are doing? Please don't interrupt in this." Susanne reprimanded the old matron, fearing the King's anger. What if her behavior ignited his fury? That was the last thing the Bradfords wanted, for they could not afford to irk the man who was more powerful than them.
