Kapitel 8: Chapter Seven

Diserra Portus

A blackened catch dangling on hidden on hinges suddenly appeared. Hermione stepped through, the next thing, knew she was on a deserted sea shore. She pondered about how she had left Jace's penthouse all of a sudden. It couldn't be by the words she had said.

She looked back, but the mist was dense making it hard to see but the portal had disappeared the same way it had appeared.

''No way, magic doesn't exist "She declined to believe the fact that ordinary words could summon up anything. She believed that Jace and the others were crazy. There was no such world with shadow hunters, warlocks, were wolves and witches. Even Vampires were mythical, just like in the fantasy dramas. Yet something was totally off. Her forgotten identity.Alien words making their way to her lips every time she felt adrenaline rush . This was the third time in the same week. Two weeks ago, she had almost set her room on fire when an unknown fire spell suddenly popped up. Despite, every thought running in her blazing mind, she was glad to have left the penthouse. She needed some air

Hermione took off her slippers, held them in her hands, and walked along the shore feeling the briskly sand coarse against the soft sole of her feet. The breeze was refreshing, nothing compared to the air that she had breathed for the past two years. Her fears and broken pieces of tragic memories left her for a moment. She thought nothing, but felt flashes of the cold air brace her from her toes to her head. She closed her eyes, tilted her head back, and exhaled a huge pent up breathe, She was glad to be here. The sandy beach was ablaze of parasols, hot colors matched the burning sand underneath her bare feet. The waters reflected sunrays of the new born sun that signaled dawn. The sunrise was always beautiful and she would stay to watch it.

Against the percussion of the waves, was a laughter coming in bursts and rolling like an ocean. Her own laughter. She had missed all this. She admired the way the beach grass brought life to the sand dunes, moving in the winds like tinny flags. Suddenly something in them moved. In the half light, it looked like a dog but never could it look like one. The motion was a bit choreographed, more advanced and peculiar to the wolf family. Wolves. Her eye brows went up. Not wolves. 'Maybe, It's just a wild dog" Hermione looked way from the beach grass. Nevertheless, she felt a connection that pulled her towards the wolf. It ran deep from within, she couldn't fight it.''Maybe it's just my love for animals' 'She yet convinced herself but again she recalled she loathed animals. When she was young, she barely stood the sight of cats and dogs, she always cursed. But there was just something good about this one.

Even in the dawning lights, its fur was as white as snow. It was short on the body and longer on the neck. The stance was confidence, and body muscular. The eyes were silvery and glistened like moonstones, as it regarded her from a distance, and howled. Hermione smiled hesitantly and strolled towards the wolf. She trusted that the wolf wasn't fierce. As she drew near, the wolf rolled on its back and wagged its tail. Hermione sat beside it, pulled it in a close embrace and ruffled through the smooth fur.

''Ah beautiful you, I just hope you are a normal dog, nothing more' She whispered. For once, Hermione's spirit was with her at the rugged beach wishing to be as free as the wolf was.

Then rapidly, the air in front of her set into motion. The same blackened dangling catch appeared. Someone stepped through. She patted her wolf friend goodbye and stood up" A quizzical smile plastered on her face. ''Jace, what brings you here? 'I looked everywhere for you". I was so scared "He replied while he paced towards her, hands deepest in his pocket. He rubbed his arms at the flash of cold, while tapping his foot. ''Th-i-s i-s so-cold'' he groaned. His teeth clattered at the effect of the morning breeze that she barely pinned her ears back to whatever he said.

''Ha, it must be too cold for you' 'Hermione nudged him with one blow. Jace fell down on his knees and clutched his tummy tightly. Hermione giggled. ''That acting deserves an academy award. ''Let's go then before you freeze your ass off''. She walked past, but then again he dragged her back. Hermione closed her eyes, clenched her bottom lip between her teeth, and she twirled back into his personal circle.

Only when she opened her eyes, did she see something that scared her out of her wits. It wasn't Jace.

The devil himself had found her.
