Kapitel 29: His Affair
"My Child..."
Eugene trembled and look around the place.
He stood in the middle of four pillars and before him is an opened huge book with a gold bookmark. Res strings are slipping through pages and finally floating near him.
"It's been a hundred years since we saw each other like this."
Eugene's original calm eyes shake and slowly turn gloomy.
"You insolent soul, forcefully bringing my body here and awakening me."
Eugene waves his hand and the whole book flips according to the direction of the wind. In just a second a slender female figure appeared and she was held in the neck by Eugene weakly, her calm eyes stare at the familiar figure that she haven't seen after a hundred years of slumber.
No...You actually wouldn't call it a deep sleep because...she's already dead.
"Seems like the heavens still haven't detected the anomaly here."
Eugene stretches his neck while looking around.
"I can only regain my whole consciousness in this realm, but this doesn't mean I won't be able to come back and fully control my body. You better behave yourself and not cause me trouble. I don't want to be detected by the heavens and be forcefully pulled out of this world."
"Kiara..."
"Numen.."
Eugene clicks his tongue, "Aren't you resentful?" squinting, he let out a devilish laugh, "You actually dare to call me here? You better say something important or I'll make your remaining soul vanish."
"You can't."
Eugene raises an eyebrow.
"If you do that, the heavens will know that there is no longer a divine existence in this realm and if that happens you'll be hunted for judgment."
Eugene gritted his teeth and throw the woman away while wiping his hand while showing a disgusting look.
Heavens, gods, and goddesses, the hell he cares.
They better prepare because once he completely breaks the restriction of the heavens, he will do everything to fight them, even if it means destroying Artha.
"So, why did you call me here?"
"The time is near and I'm afraid that if you meet her, you'll repeat the same mistake again."
Eugene chuckled, "Oh, you care that much?"
"Numen..."
"Don't worry, I can't still fully take over my own body, the past me is still living his life in illusion, full of drama and self-blame. Even if I want to, I can't have that person without fusing my will to the current me."
"You can't. No matter what, you can't do that."
"I'm not stupid Kiara. I know if I do that, I will completely disappear."
Kiara sighed and slowly crawl, hugging Eugene's legs.
Eugene lowered his gaze and look at the woman below him, deprived of power. How funny, the former almighty goddess is now under his feet, begging him to continue existing. This is why you shouldn't show pity to your enemy because you will only be devoured until you lost it...
The most precious thing.
Waving his hand, A huge bed appeared and Eugene dragged Kiara to lie on it.
"Be good and serve me well. Maybe I'll reconsider..."
Kiara closes her eyes and hugs Eugene.
It doesn't matter what she becomes, because all of this is the consequence of saving the human whom she thought could still be saved.
Feeling that some of the divine power left in her soul is disappearing, tears fell from her eyes.
She doesn't regret it.
The only child who was deprived of everything by heaven.
——Eugene get up from the bed and wore a white and gold robe.
It takes time for him to fuse the divine magic through his soul so after sucking a small number of divine particles from Kiara, he fell asleep and undergoes a fusion.
Sadly, it's still far to fill the amount of mana he lost in those years.
This won't do, he needs to recover faster to be able to control his physical body in Artha. Seeing his past self fooling around with those people made him sick. If you have a chance to go back, instead of walking around doing nothing, his past self should be making plans to prevent the second war from happening.
War of Nacos is enough, if War of Denos is not rewritten then the empire will be at the disadvantage. His goal is not to beg those people's attention and affection but to rewrite the events that would kill a million people.
If he's not in the mood and the heavens fight him then he doesn't mind destroying it too.
However, he's not as ruthless as his past self now.
There is still Timber in Artha.
He can't hurt Timber.
"Numen..."
"For now I can't go in and out of this realm so I will still need you."
"I understand, I can---"
"No. Half of my memories will be sealed once my consciousness goes back into my physical body. All you need to do is to give hints to awaken it. The selection is tomorrow, don't disturb me for the time being, my physical body is exhausted enough to bear the disappearance of my soul. Behave yourself and I'll call out to you when I found a chance."
Kiara sigh.
"Should I send you back now?"
Eugene pinches Kiara's chin and drops a kiss.
"If he finds out I did this, would he kill you?"
Kiara trembled and immediately kneel.
"N-Numen...I-I---"
Eugene laughs, "I'm just kidding, don't worry if he finds out, I'll protect you."
Kiara doesn't feel comforted because aside from Eugene what she fears the most is that person. The one who goes against the heavens just to follow her lord's soul across dimensions. If that person finds out about her affair with her lord then she, she will really disappear completely.
How fearsome is that being?
Seeing Kiara's shaking body, Eugene frown.
He knew he was the one wrong so if one day that person appeared then he will really plead for Kiara because Kiara can't disappear yet, he still needs Kiara to recover.
"Send me back now."
"Y-Yes."
"Also, don't call me your child because I feel like having an affair with my own mother."
Kiara's face turn red in embarrassment.
"I-I'll keep that in my mind."
——Knock. Knock.
"Eugene?!"
Timber repeatedly knock on Eugene's room because the assembly would start soon and they're be going to be late! Today is the official start of the selection, how come Eugene overslept?!
"Eugene wake up!"
Eugene frowned and opened his eyes.
He doesn't remember when he fell asleep but with Timber's anxious voice outside, he set aside his doubts and get up from the bed, opening the door.
"Timber---"
"You just woke up?!" Timber pushes Eugene back inside and closes the door, "Hurry and wash, we're going to be late in assembly! Don't forget your sword!"
Eugene immediately regain his senses when he heard the word 'assembly' and hurriedly grab a bathroom, pushing Timber down to sit on the sofa while saying, "Be good, don't worry we won't be late, just stay still and wait for me."
Timber pouted.
"Hurry up!"
Eugene sigh and enter the bathroom.
If it weren't for staying up late at night then he won't wake up this late. But asides from practicing magic, he doesn't remember the rest. However, that doesn't matter now because the selection will now officially begin and the academy will be open to the public.
Placing his palm on his chest, Eugene digs out his sword inside his body and looks at it.
This sword is given to him when he was five years old by his father because he's a Shradinza, a young master from a knight family. Being given a sword means having potential so once a male newborn in Shradinza reaches five years old, even without knowledge of sword fights they would be tested.
He got this and for some reason, the day he shows potential in swordsmanship is also the day he awakens his magic. Five years old he is naive so a sword given by his father is treasured so much by him that he is anxious it will be lost.
It leads to a young him opening up a new door.
Due to his desire, he activated his magic early and the first magic style he accidentally make is what he called ARISA. Arisa---a spell to turn a physical weapon into a mist and store it inside the bearer's body.
It's his sole secret that no one knew.
And he can't let everyone know because, in the past, a bunch of magicians hunted him just to learn the magic of storing a physical weapon inside one's body.
It's pain in the ass and he does not have time to play hide and seek.
One of the reasons why magic is his least favorite.
Because too many are so obsessed with it that they would harm anyone to learn anything.
Sighing, he put the sword on the sink and wipe himself clean before going out.
Seeing Eugene, Timber stood up but froze: "Hey, you leave your swords everywhere? Why the hell even put it in the bathroom?"
Eugene put his swords on the table.
"Well, I like it so I carry it everywhere."
Timber crosses his arms: "You carry swords in a bathroom, don't tell me you will stand in front of the mirror and do a dance? are you a narcissist?"
Eugene feels like vomiting blood. How could Timber misunderstand him like that?
Also, who would do a sword dance in a small space?
"Forget it, I don't care what you do with your sword in a bathroom. Just hurry up so we can leave already, we gonna be late for sure."
Eugene twitches his lips.
Opening his closet, he grabs his school knight uniform.
Timber watch his friend change clothes and couldn't help but admire.
The knight uniform really looks good, he can stare at Eugene for an hour as long as Eugene kept that clothes on. However, others won't think so, they would rather strip off that clothes and admire what's inside. After all, despite his bad attitude, Eugene is popular also because of his beauty, no one would argue if that is the topic.
"Let's go."
Walking out of the room, Eugene was dragged by Timber who is so excited.
"Finally, we will graduate soon!"
Eugene look around and everyone dressed based on their respective selections. He couldn't feel but feel a little nostalgic and started to look forward like others do.
This selection is the path toward their dream.
Sadly, Eugene only had goals to achieve.
Eugene: "Later you better listen and stick to me. Hunting demonized beasts is the first round of battle, it's too dangerous if you accidentally encounter a higher level."
The first level is beast hunting.
The second level is treasure hunting.
Then the third level is team battle.
Beast hunting is fine because the low-level demonized beast has zero intelligence. What worries him the most is the team battle because it's a survival one.
"I know, you've been saying that since yesterday."
"Because I'm worried."
Timber pouted, "As if something bad would happen."
Eugene chuckled, "You'll never know."
When Timber and Eugene arrived outside the Sena forest which is part of the academy's property, they saw a bunch of students wearing their respective knight uniforms. Team leaders wear white while teammates wear black.
Sighting Eugene who is conspicuous in the crowd with his white knight uniform. Everyone turns their necks and stares at Eugene with eyes staring up and down.
Eugene has a bad reputation, but his beauty and talent can't be denied.
Timber pursed his lips and hug Eugene's arms, showing sovereignty.
Eugene who ignores the masses stares just looks at the entrance of the Sena forest while waiting for the assembly to start. It's finally time for real practice, he hopes that he can at least regain half of his strength while inside the Sena forest.
His first step towards War.
He probably won't be able to experience the coming-of-age ceremony with Timber this time. Though feel lost, he needs to be in that war. He needs to know what lead the War of Denos to start.
"WELCOME, MEZA EUSTO'S!"
The nosy surrounding became silent and everyone looks at ahead to where the voice came from. Eugene saw Professor Denis through a huge water mirror and behind him sat a row of distinguished people, one of them is the grand duke, his excellency Karsten.
But what caught his attention is the one sitting beside the grand duke and that is...
His father.
Clenching his fist, Eugene lowered his head.
This action was seen by Timber and Timber couldn't help but hate the Marquis whom he believe abusing his friend. After all, Eugene won't have a sudden impulse like that if there is no trauma.
So annoying.
He hopes everyone who mistreated his friend suffers after regret.
Timber also hopes that no matter what, Eugene won't forgive them.
