After some 15 minutes of walking, Vanilla reached the center of Merry Oaths. The cradle of concrete was the only place in the town that still looked like humans lived and moved in. Two police officers that Vanilla didn't know patrolled the four conjoined streets, and some people moved in and out of the dead gardens of recovering oak trees at the middle park.
Saint Gabriel Church was the building at the west section; being taller than the Major house, the gothic-victorian construction reached nearly 40 feet in height. It was also the only building in the center that seemed to be given regular maintenance; Vanilla noticed it because it was the only building with the least pigeon nests on its high niches and finishes.
