Raiko's POV
The Next Day
.
I had to admit that last night was pretty fun, at least until the meeting with the Hero Association about Knockout and Endeavor, that was boring as hell, just a bunch of old coots repeating the same thing over and over: "We need to stop him but we can't! If we stop him the crime rates will go to high, especially with All Might getting weaker. We need to convince him to become a hero, but we can't."
At this point, it was tempting to just turn myself in to stop the joke that Knockout's investigation was, it had nearly been 10 years and they had made next to no progress.
Also, speaking of Endeavor, the Hero Association response to the reveal of his crimes was not so surprising, they had denied knowing about the fact he was abusing his children and temporarily removed his hero license until further notice.
I'm not sure if the Hero Association's top brass really knew about Endeavor's crimes, but I would find out the truth eventually and if they lied, I would bring them down, I had brought down Endeavor, nothing would stop me from going after those old men.
Endeavor himself had surprisingly not denied his crimes, maybe he was finally feeling guilty, but it was too late, now, the damage had already been done.
Now, his reputation was in shambles, as well as his standing as a hero. The people had been very quick to turn their back on him once they knew what he had done, but there were still a few that defended him based on his actions as a hero, but they usually were quickly overwhelmed by the haters, in a true internet fashion.
I had discussed about Endeavor a lot last night with Kyotaka, by video call, after my meeting. After she had seen the recording for me going Plus Ultra and completely destroying Endeavor, she was in awe of my power. I think it was then that she truly realized how powerful Knockout was.
I had her analyze the fight, giving her insight on it before we had talked about the impact of Endeavor's fall on society for a while and then normal subjects.
.
Sadly, the saying "Nothing good last long" proved itself true once more, especially when we're talking about the weekends (or hanging out with Kyotaka), because it was already Monday, and it meant that I had to go to work again.
I didn't hate my work, I quite liked it in fact, it's just that today I would only be teaching first years and, honestly, it was way less pleasant than to teach the second and third years, the older the student, the more serious and competent they are, obviously.
At least today would be interesting, 1-A (except Bakugou, he was still suspended, but that may be a blessing in disguise) would be going to rescue training, and I would accompany them since All Might had (again) used up all of his time. Another reason I was there was that I could provide the students with advice on how to use their quirks on rescue situations, but Thirteen could also do that.
And that's how I found myself seated in the front of a bus, next to Aizawa, going to the Unforseen Simulation Joint, of USJ for short. It was a rescue facility that U.A. owned and that was managed by Thirteen, the space hero.
It looked like I wasn't the only one who didn't want to be here, though, as Aizawa seemed even more sleep deprived than usual, thus in an even worse mood, I'm pretty sure he was running only on coffee, that's what he was smelling of.
The students, on the other hand, looked thrilled by today's training and were excitedly discussing with each other. I was glad to see Shoto participating a bit, he was slowing getting rid of his cold and aloof demeanor.
I started to complete paperwork while waiting for the bus to arrive, I had done a massive hero raid last week and I needed to file a lot of documents, like a lot.
That's why I liked being a Vigilante, it was so much simpler, you just had to stop the villain and all the paperwork would go to someone else, most likely an unlucky police officer. It wasn't your problem.
After a bit, we arrived to the Unforseen Simulation Joint, where Thirteen was waiting for us.
The USJ was an amalgam of zones designed to simulate rescue scenarios heroes may encounter. There were zones with floods, fires, landslides, etc. It was perfect to train future heroes.
But I had a really bad hunch, something felt wrong, I was feeling it in my gut, and my gut feelings were almost never wrong. I promised myself to be extra careful and started spreading invisible finger-eyes everywhere inside the facility we were in.
Thirteen greeted us warmly, before she (yes, Thirteen is a woman) explained today's today's training.
"This is a practical training area I created to simulate all sorts of accidents and disasters….Welcome to the Unforseen Simulation Joint! Or simply USJ."
When they realized who the hero in front of them was, a couple of students started fanboying, Thirteen was a fairly popular hero, but said hero ignored them and continued speaking.
"I think you all are aware that my quirk is called Black Hole. It makes me a black hole and no matter what material is sucked, it will be reduced to nothingness. It is a quirk that could be used extremely easily to injure or even kill people," she said gravely, taking a dramatic pause afterward to let her word sink in.
"And that is true for all quirk out there, especially yours, future heroes… They can be used to harm easily, one step wrong is all it takes to make a sometimes fatal mistake."
"You learned some quirk's potential during Aizawa's quirk test."
"You learned the dangers of them during All Might's Battle Trial."
"However, your quirks do not exist to harm others!
"But to help them, that's what I hope to show you today, that will be our goal!
"And so, that is all I request of you, to leave this lesson having comprehended that your quirks exist to save and protect others."
Thirteen finished her inspiring speech and most of the heroes-in-training were visibly pumped and excited, full of energy and goodwill.
There was a small round of applause, during which students thanked and cheered for Thirteen, while she thanked them for listening, earnestly bowing.
That was why Thirteen was also one of my favorite hero, she just wanted to save people, she had no other motivations for being a hero. She used her quirk exquisitely, never once severely injuring or killing someone because of a mishap she made while using it, which proved her skill considering the nature of her quirk.
Her quirk was also something that fascinated me, it was perhaps one of the only quirks that could severely injure me, and there was no real way to defend against it, just avoid it as best as you can.
Fortunately, Thirteen would not be fighting against Raiko or Knockout anytime soon, although she knew how to fight pretty well, she was a rescue hero, rarely fighting against villains.
.
But just as 1-A finished cheering for Thirteen and I finished my analysis of her, a small, purple and misty portal started opening and I felt immense malice and evil oozing off of it.
It reeked villains, I knew it was not something planned for today's lesson. That could only mean one thing... Villains. So I took my gun, and shot the portal five times, non-lethal rounds, each hitting the center of the increasingly large portal.
I was an excellent shooter, as I (Raiko) do not have an offensive quirk, so I armed myself and learned how to shoot. With my inhuman reflexes, three separate train of thoughts and 360-degree vision, I picked up shooting extremely easily.
Sadly, though, my shots did nothing, it seemed they missed any villains that might've been coming out of the mist portal.
After the gunshots, there was a moment of silence, the students mostly very confused about what was happening and the heroes present had a tense expression, realizing that whatever would be coming out of the portal would not be friendly.
I broke the moment, shouting:
"Kids, retreat to the back and try to contact the school or send the fastest if you can't. Aizawa, Thirteen, with me. Everyone, those are real villains
Shorter chapter, but there will be an extra one today.
Hope you liked it, I’ll mess up cannon even more soon!
