The Next Day
I was walking toward the meeting place with Dabi, and I was thinking about him. Of course, I had only learned of him yesterday, so I had not been able to gather a lot of information about him, and I was interested in him. I only knew that he had a very powerful fire quirk, his own nickname meaning cremation (Dabi=cremation in japanese) and that, for some reason, he really hated Endeavor. As for his actions, it wasn't clear if he was a Vigilante or a villain, or somewhere between the two but I'd be very surprised if he was a villain and wanted to meet with me. It's probably related to how I had tied with Endeavor.
I continued to walk and it was nice to just take a bit of fresh air and relax a bit, I rarely had the occasion to just take a nice walk in a parc.
Not long after, I saw Dabi, long before he saw me, thanks to my multiple quirks, and I must say, he looked quite scary, with his burn scars on his lower face, black hair and eyes and generally dark outfit. As I got near him, I greeted him, not knowing what to expect from the meeting.
"I presume you are Dabi? I'm Knockout. I must say, I'm quite curious why you would want to meet me. I hope that this isn't to fight me, it would be a quick one-way ticket to the police station."
"No Knockout, I want your help, and I'll do anything you want in exchange", he said, gravely.
"For what? And why should I help you, there are plenty of people whom I could be helping right now instead of talking to you."
"I want you to help me bring down my piece of sh*t of a father, Endeavor."
I was quite shocked at that statement, but I guess it kinda made sense he was Endeavor's kid, with his quirk. Before I had time to ask questions, Dabi continued.
"My father was always obsessed with surpassing the number one hero, All Might, and when he realized he couldn't do it himself, he tried to create the "perfect" offspring. I guess you have heard of quirk marriage? It's what he did, my mom had a powerful ice quirk, but her weak constitution prevented her from being a hero. Thus, my father was able to buy her and I was born."
"Apparently. I was almost perfect. Almost. My quirk being even more powerful than Endeavor's Hellflame. But I was a damaged product, I inherited my mother's build and my body can't handle my quirk, I burn myself."
He pointed at the gruesome scars on his face, before continuing.
"He forced me to train with my quirk, no matter the consequences, beat me, overworked me, etc, and at the same time continued to try and get the perfect son. It took a brother and a sister before he got his perfect creation, my youngest brother, who had a perfect mix of both my parent's quirks. At that point, he discarded his three other children and my mother, and it wasn't long before I fled my house and since that time I was thinking of a way to free my brother from Endeavor's clutches and make him pay for what he did to us."
"That's why I sought you, I heard about your prowess, your strength and at the same time your actions and I knew that you could help me. When I saw you fight with Endeavor, it sealed the deal, I knew that you weren't going to be afraid or intimidated by him."
It took me a few seconds to digest what he had just said, and I found myself surprised by how much of a sh*tbag Endeavor was. I knew he wasn't particularly pleasant person, but I never spied on the private life of anyone really, unless there was a need to, so I had not spied on the home life of the number two hero. I was certainly reconsidering it now, because if what Dabi said was true and Endeavor really did mistreat his kid, then he needed to face the consequences of his actions.
"I will confirm weather Endeavor really is as bad as you say, as honestly, I don't know of I can believe you. Meet me again here, same time, in a week and if what you said is true, we will work together to bring him down", I replied to him, as I would bring him down, such person isn't a hero.
"Thank you, I can't thank you enough for this. But what do you want me to do to in exchange?"
"Nothing, just don't become like your father. If you really don't know what to do, there's no shortage of Vigilantes, you know. And you have a pretty powerful quirk. But it's your choice, really."
I truly wanted nothing, as it was what I did as a Vigilante, bringing down bad guys, but if he became a Vigilante, he could possibly become a pretty good college, he had a lot of firepower, but I fear that he may lack a bit of finesse. And there was still plenty of crime, more crime fighters would never be a bad thing.
Although right now he had a lot of hatred and wasn't necessarily a good guy, I believed that if he got his revenge, there would be hope for him to change.
But now it was time to investigate.
One Week Later
It was now time for my second meeting with Dabi, and everything that he revealed to me was more than true, I had spied extensively on him with finger-eyes and hacked into several databases to learn everything about him.
As a hero, he was decent, he rarely killed or severely injured civilians, and the few times it happened, it was truly an accident, he wasn't at fault in those cases. He tried to maintain a positive public opinion of him.
Although, he wasn't that gentle with villains and Vigilantes, he often killed them when he could've injured them instead, which made most of the criminals fear him. When you saw Endeavor, you surrendered of you fled, unless you had a death wish. Or if you were me and could best him in a one-on-one fight.
But as a person, he was horrible. He bought his wife by putting pressure on her family so that he could marry her, then broke her, sent he to a mental institution, and used his influence and connections so that she couldn't get out. This wasn't all that hard to figure out, it only took a bit of persuasion and a little bit of blackmail.
Also, he acted as if he only had one child, Shoto Todoroki, his youngest and his masterpiece, and the training he put him through was inhuman, it wasn't hard at all to find multiple traces of abuse on him. This kid needed to be rescued from this man. Well, I say kid but he was older than me, I think.
I arrived to the meeting place with Dabi once again, and spoke:
"I verified everything you said, and it's all true. In fact, it's even worse. So how do you want to bring Endeavor down?"
We then started to plan to downfall of Endeavor, and he would fall hard.
Oh yeah, RIP Endeavor, he won’t last long now that the MC has his sights on him. The MC is really morally grey, he doesn’t care if he does bad things if he does them to the bad guys, but he isn’t like Stain, Stain was just delusional.
Also, what I said about Endeavor is cannon (except for that he bought his wife, this is just my conspiracy theory). It’s true that he never harmed civilians and had a surprisingly good control on his flames. But it’s also true that he doesn’t mind killing villains of Vigilantes.
Second chapter of the day, as promised.
