Kapitel 6: Keeping Secrets

The hotel room was larger than expected. Mira looked around in a amazement. There were two bedrooms, a huge bathroom, a kitchen area, and a living area. She had seen mansions and penthouses like this, but never a hotel.

"I hope you like it. The penthouse will be ready to move into in s couple of days," Clarisse announced.

"It's very nice, Mother. I won't mind staying here at all," Mira walked into one of the bedrooms and set down a bag of clothing, toiletries, and other items she would need for the next few days.

"Is it alright if I stay in this room?" She asked her mother.

"That's fine with me. Remember, you will meet with the principal and a few teachers at Françoise Dupont High School tomorrow, so don't stay up late and get lots of sleep. In about an hour, I have to meet with a couple of people a few of blocks away, so I'll be home around eleven o'clock. I hope you'll be asleep by then."

"I know, Mother. Don't worry. I'll be wide awake and ready for tomorrow."

Clarisse smiled, "I know I haven't been around a lot lately, but that will change soon. I promise we'll bond and keep up that great mother-daughter relationship."

Mira admired her mother's cheerfulness. She could tell Gabriel was different. Just from meeting someone, Mira could discover much about their personality. Gabriel was firm, protective, and slightly depressed. Adrien, on the other hand, was flirtatious, adventurous, and caring.

It was hard to believe Mira had a stronger relationship with a women who had adopted her than Adrien had with his own father. As soon as she and her mother entered the mansion, Mira could feel the coldness between the Agrestes.

She closed the door and changed into her nightwear. After that, Mira went to the kitchen portion of the hotel room and made a turkey, lettuce, and cheese sandwich. It wasn't much, but Mira didn't want to get queasy from all the movement she would be doing later. That was one secret she kept from her mother. Mira planned to sneak out of the hotel room and explore a Paris. It would require moves Mira had not practiced in a while.

"Is that all you're eating?" Clarisse asked Mira.

"Yes, I don't want to stuff myself. Maybe I can tomorrow at the restaurant here. It's supposed to be really good," Mira explained.

"Okay, just make sure you're eating enough," Clarisse said. She walked into the bathroom to change clothes and freshen up before her meeting. Mira took the sandwich back to her room and closed the door. She set the sand which on the nightstand beside a cast iron peacock paperweight she had just set out. It was dark blue in color, along with some pink and black details. It stood on a small, round bottom. The paperweight had a distressed look to it, which gave it a vintage style.

This was another secret Mira kept from her mother, but for a good reason. Mira pulled out the feather pin she wore earlier and held it up to the paperweight. An indent in the shape of the pin was on the feather part of the paperweight. When Mira put the pin into the indent, the two merged together. The pin was now a part of the paperweight.

When the two were joined, a small, blue creature appeared in a dark blue glow.

Mira felt a sudden sweep of warmth, "Hello, Duusu."
