"Look Christian, I know you have a need to fight as soon as you meet someone, but just this once-"
"Not a chance!"
Ignoring Roger's pleas, Christian took an offensive stance. Roger, who realized that there was no use in trying to persuade him, got ready to fight along with April.
Both sides were ready to jump into battle when a loud roar echoed all over, shaking the trees with its voice.
The doran had arrived.
The doran's roar is referred to by most as a declaration of war. The doran first growls, which sends sonar-like waves to find out opponents for it to challenge, and if it does find anyone or anything interesting, it charges in their direction, and when it gets close enough, it roars, solidifying its intention of having a battle. After the roar, unless you escape from the Kito Jungle itself, there is absolutely no way that the doran can be stopped from challenging.
This time, it seems that its opponents were one of the three, if not all of them. The three stood there, waiting for the beast to arrive, as they knew that running was futile. And soon enough, the gargantuan monster came into full view. It's big tusks coupled with its giant legs gave it a feeling of a majestic beast, something that's only seen as a myth. And yet, in front of them stood the gigantic beast, ready to battle them.
Christian took the front, with Roger and April right behind him.
"What's the plan?"
Roger who leaned over to Christian, asked.
"Is there a need for a plan?" Christian looked over, giving Roger a look as if he had been asked a stupid question.
'Why are you looking at me like that? It's a totally valid question!'
Roger cursed in his mind about his temporary teammate and turned to ask April, who looked clueless as well.
'Oh damn, I'm going to die with these idiots.'
A sudden realization had struck Roger, but he had no choice but to go with it, as the doran, which had enough of waiting, charged at them. The doran, despite its humongous body dashed at an extremely high speed, making it extremely hard for its opponents to dodge quickly.
'Dammit, how to defeat this monster? Is there even a chance?'
Roger still had no hope in beating the doran. He saw how fast it moved, even with its giant body, and he could only dodge the attack because he had seen it coming and acted before it actually started moving.
"Both of you, cover me!" Christian shouted to Roger and April and ran straight towards the monster, approaching it before it made its next move.
Listening to Christian, April pointed her hand at the monster, and hundreds of ice spears formed behind her and shot towards the doran at high velocity. Roger then used his electrical magic to summon a lightning bolt, which struck the monster the same time as the ice spears hit their target.
The doran, hit by both attacks at the same time, was pushed back a bit. Christian who had already jumped in front of it, used fire blast, one of his more powerful moves and blasted flames from his palms at the same spot that both the previous attacks had taken aim, leading to a massive explosion.
The doran however, positioned itself, bracing it's giant body to not get knocked out by the attack. It then smashed its head onto Christian, who was still in mid air after the attack, sending him straight to the ground.
"Christian!" Both Roger and April screamed in unison, but they couldn't be distracted by their injured teammate as the doran moved its eyes away from Christian and onto both of them.
Roger and April couldn't help but shudder when they met their gazes with the monster, but quickly snapped out of it, and started summoning their strongest moves.
The doran ran towards them at high speed once again, as both of them got ready to attack for a second round.
April motioned her hands once again, and this time ice spikes started forming from the ground, freezing the path and moving towards the doran, piercing anything that was in its way. Unfortunately, the doran smashed through the ice spikes, destroying them into pieces. Although some spikes did inflict some damages, it wasn't nearly what they were hoping for.
Roger pointed his fingers towards the raging beast coming their way, and a large bow and arrow appeared out of nowhere. He then grabbed the bow and arrow, which appeared to be made out of purely electrical energy, and pulled the arrow back and took aim.
"... Now!"
He then shoot the lightning arrow towards the rampaging monster, and it shot towards it in supersonic speed, reaching the beast as soon as he released his hands, and the impact caused another large explosion.
"Did I get it?"
Roger's hopes were dashed as soon as he saw a giant shadow dashing out of the dust, and April had to grab him to get out of the way.
The doran, who seems to have noticed them dodging it's attack for a second time, suddenly turned its direction mid-attack, forcing its giant body to change its direction.
"Dammit.."
The surprised Roger and April had reacted a little too late to the advanced manoeuvring of the giant beast, meeting its attack head-on, before being able to dodge it.
April tried making an ice barrier to shield themselves from the attack, but the doran smashed through that as well.
Both of them flew through the air due to the impact of the attack. They had both lost a lot of their energy, and had nothing left in their body.
"Are we going to lose now?"
April, who was in the air, tried moving her body, but no matter how hard she tried, her body wouldn't listen. She looked down to where she was falling and saw the doran waiting for them.
She closed her eyes, awaiting her loss.
"Not yet!"
A sudden shout shook her out from losing consciousness. The shout came from the place where Christian had fallen. April looked at the direction, and saw Christian standing up and saw him pointing at the back of the doran. He had been pointing at the spot that they had focused their all their attack on.
As she looked at the spot, her eyes widened with surprise.
Then she heard Roger, who was also falling to the ground with her, speaking.
"The doran has been wounded."
