Kapitel 9: Andrew Carter
"It's working."
"Finally, we can leave this place."
"Indeed. Let's fill this car first and they leave."
After they loaded the Humvee and fill it up, Eric's group drove away from the roadblock.
Now that they have a new vehicle, they easily drove till they were in Senoia.
Senoia wasn't a big city, but regardless of how big it was, the zombies would still appear in a place where humans live. The city had only 4 000 people living in it and was one of the wealthiest towns in the state.
"It is good to be back, in my hometown."
"Glad to be here with you."
"Now, now, Eric, don't go sentimental on this. I'm glad that you all are here with me, but we need to go to my brother's house ASAP (As Soon As Possible – if you didn't know what ASAP means). We don't want to be on the streets with 3000 zombies or how many are in this town."
Half an hour later, we managed to get to Andrew's house. The house looked like a fortress from outside. On the windows were weld metal sheets while the door was reinforced with metal as for the garage, it looked like a bunker.
Looking at the house Jon spoke.
"Holy Shit, your brother is a genius. He transformed his whole house into a fortress. If he has food and water, he will be able to survive for a long time in there."
"I'm sure he has a lot of food and water. He's a freak when he puts his head into something."
After they were done with the sightseeing, Paul walked towards the house. When he was five meters away from the door, a bullet hit the ground in front of him.
"If you make one more step, you'll get shot."
"Brian is that you?"
"Uncle? Is that you?"
"The only one, I know."
"I'll inform my dad that you are here."
Five minutes later, Andrew opens the door.
Andrew: Welcome to my fortress brother and it seems that you aren't alone. Come inside, Brian will get the car.
Inside the house, we stood in the living room while Andrew and Paul chat amongst them.
"So it's bad out there?"
"Really bad, you don't imagine what I saw out there. They are everywhere. From King County to here, we had to fight a bunch of zombies and at first, we had some close calls that could have led to our deaths. Lucky for us, Eric was here to lead us.
"How come? A boy led you? HAHAHA, you are still a green man. Ok, ok. Now, boy, tell me why did you assume the role of a leader?"
"Gamer instinct and I wanted to be cool…"
"Good. I like you, boy. Welcome to the family then. You all are welcome to stay here."
"Thank you! "
Brian, Andrew and Sonia's son, how looked like a younger version of his father while he was just 17 years old, he was a good fighter and one hell of a shooter. As for Andrew's wife, she was a nurse that worked at an animal shelter in Senoia.
Not that they finally had a safe place where they could rest and lay down, the whole group decided to sleep the night and help Andrew tomorrow.
The next day, Eric woke up and found Jon and Paul working as guards, while the girls were speaking in the kitchen. Deciding that it would be better to find Andrew and his son than staying with the ladies, Eric heads towards the garage.
Inside the garage, Eric found Andrew and Brian working at the Humvee. Andrew saw him and spoke.
"Morning son. Sorry for not telling you, but you don't get the chance to work on a Humvee every day."
"No problem, but what are doing anyway?"
"Checking her and making a blueprint for an upgrade version of it. More armor and quitter maybe add a turret with a gun, some spike on the wheels, and a ram."
Eric looked at Andrew as if the man grows an extra head and a new pair of arms.
"YOU…ARE…A…GENIUS."
Andrew smiled at that compliment: "I know, but thanks for the praise."
"If you could make the Humvee the way you want to make it, it would be the best thing other than an APC or a tank."
"Don't forget the helicopter."
"Of course, how could I forget about the best part? What do you need to upgrade the Humvee?"
"Lots of steel, more propane gas a car silencer, a Machine Gun, and if we can find some bulletproof glass for extra protection. Maybe a more powerful engine, I don't know how heavy this car would be after the upgrade"
"That's a lot of things to find and take back here."
"I'm sure you will be able to do it."
"I'll try my best…"
"That's the spirit, now get out of here, both of you. I need to build a better car."
Pushing us out of the garage, I was left with Brian.
"Is he always like that?"
"You have no idea. He's a freak when it comes to modifying vehicles. Hey, Eric, why don't you come with me to Greene's farm to get our weekly food supplies?"
"Who are the Greenes ?"
"They have a farm near Senoia. The old Greene knows my father. They are family friends. Do you want to meet them?"
"Sure, I don't have anything to do anyway.
