Kapitel 2: Chapter 2

SEBASTIAN

"So, Sebastian...how are you?" I had to try not to display the rush of happiness that surged through me when my name left her lips.

Wow, lewd much. Get your head out of the gutter!

"I'm, uh, I'm good. I'm good," I answered. It almost like I was reassuring myself more than simply replying.

I wasn't good. Despite the joy that pounded on my heart when I first saw her, I couldn't hold back the feelings of disbelief. Disbelief that she left me and she is now in front of me. The feelings of betrayal and loss I felt the day I found out she left. The feelings of sadness in the months afterwards.

Those feelings returned, and strong enough that I couldn't hold back the question. "Why?"

She knew what I was asking. She lowered her head and fiddled with her hands. When she lifted her head, her eyes were flooded with shame. Her voice was full of emotion as she answered.

"I, I couldn't handle it. I couldn't handle university, the Cupid's database, the sudden confession from my father that he apparently loved me all along and his shitty act was for the greater good. I was a coward and I ran away. I'm sorry, I should have told you." It was a strange sight to see. The Audrey I knew from three years ago always tried to stay strong and would rarely show any emotion.

"Audrey, it's fine. It's oka-"

"No, it's not fine. It would have been fine if I didn't get close to you. It would have been fine if you were simply a client and didn't mean anything. I feel so terrible for leaving you behind and I was so selfish and consumed in the want to get away from it all that I forgot about you."

"So, I mean something to you then?"

"Is that really all you got from that?" She scowled.

"Of course not. Look, Audrey, when you left, I didn't know what to do. It sounds stupid and it makes me sound so helpless but, the day you left I realised you really mean a lot to me. But no matter how I felt, I always found myself forgiving you. I always found myself coming up with excuses to explain why you left. But it's okay. It's okay Audrey," I confessed, running a hand through my hair.

"Can we, can we maybe start over?" She pleaded. The Audrey before was so completely out of character that she just kept surprising me. Or maybe she's not, maybe she was just hiding this side of her.

"No, we can't." Her face dropped, her eyes began glistening with tears. "We can just continue where we left off. Starting over would mean throwing away our past and I don't want to do that. Our past is a part of us, it's important and it needs to be cherished no matter what."

She wiped away a couple of rogue tears and smiled. God how I love that smile, how I missed it. "Thank you, Sebastian. It really means a lot to me."

"Audrey, I will always choose you." I smile softly, taking her hand in mine.

"Thank you, Sebastian. And I'm not a damn Pokemon," At this, we both laughed. "Come on, let's continue this at my place.

AUDREY

"Woah, this is your place?" We were both sat in my driver's car. Normally I am opposed to having a driver as I am capable of driving myself, but since I was here in France alone, my parents and I came to an agreement.

Me staying in France was originally meant to be a secret to my father and my sister, but my mother (being the woman that she is) told my father immediately and thus, we made an agreement. In exchange for staying in France in our family home, I would need to be escorted by a driver and bodyguard in one. I would also need to return to my home country to take the position of CEO of the family business.

"This is my family home. Our great-grandmother was from France and this was her home before she married my great-grandfather. Well, originally it was a small cottage, but since my great-grandfather had the business and he earned a lot, he decided to buy the land and build a house on top of it so that they could stay here whilst they were in France visiting. It's been in the family ever since," I explained.

We pulled up to the door and my driver, Simon, held the car door open for us as we got out.

"Would you like to join us for some tea Simon?" I asked, my keys in hand ready to unlock the door.

"I would love to Miss Parkinson, but I'm afraid I already have plans. My deepest apologies." He bowed in apology.

"Oh, that's alright. Have fun okay? Make sure to be responsible." I smile and wave him goodbye. Sebastian follows me to the door as I unlock it. I let him inside and guided him to the living room, letting him sit down while I go to make the tea.

"So what did you do in the past three years?" Sebastian asked when I returned with the tea, sitting across from him.

"You want me to tell you three years worth of events? In...detail?"

He scoffed and shot me a smile. "No, just a briefing. Did you think I didn't want to know what you've been up to?"

"I've just been taking a break mostly. I do work on the side but, I'm trying to relax before I have to return to take over the company." I reply, taking a sip of my tea.

He mirrors me, taking a sip of his own tea. "When do you have to go back?"

"Next year, the week after Valentine's day."

"Ah, you still have a while to spend here before going back."

"Yeah, I guess." I shrugged, pushing a strand of hair behind my ear. His eyes followed my movements, watching everything I do.

He held my gaze for a while before asking, "You really don't want to back, do you?"

I went to answer but I stopped, realising that I would just lie. I took a deep breath to answer but I settled on shaking my head instead.

He stood and sat beside me. I let out a sigh as he held me gently in his arms, stroking my hair.

"You'll figure something out. It's going to be okay."

It was then that I believed it.
