Kapitel 9: Strong Heart
Leo felt as if some kind of dense fluid was spreading throughout the body. Every cell in his body was greedily absorbing this fluid, it felt as if for the first time ever dry desert was welcoming the spring. Every single muscle and bone was getting nourished and strengthened. This fluid even entered his brain and spread throughout, but most of it was getting concentrated at a single point, it felt as if the new organ was being born at that place, or maybe not, it was just the vague feeling.
The whole process took around ten minutes. When [Limitless] stopped, he found himself transformed into a newer and better version of himself, his every attribute, strength, speed, stamina, and reflexes were enhanced. Each of his senses was also enhanced, the world around him turned more detailed as if low-quality video turned into HD. The performance of his brain was also increased.
He felt refreshed, not a bit of previous exhaustion remained. He felt like he can start training again. Without [Limitless] he would have to take a rest for a long time, but now he can start training immediately. What a powerful ability it was, not only did it improve his body, but it also let him train without taking a rest.
When Bolt saw Leo falling on the ground due to exhaustion, he admired him. "Yes, we need at least this much determination, only then we can become stronger. Today, I will also train to the point of complete exhaustion, until I cannot even lift a finger." Bolt intensified his training.
Effect of [Limitless] was addicting, he wanted to experience once more. So he again started training with even more enthusiasm.
Seeing Leo start training again, Bolt was surprised, as he would have to take a long rest after he exhausted himself. Of course, he did not think of Leo possessing some ability, as eight years old boy he was, he thought Leo was more determined than he was. "Leo is younger than me, I can't be left behind by him." He intensified his training once more.
By the evening they stopped their training. Leo was able to activate [Limitless] three times. He was still far away from completing Saitama sensei's workout. [Limitless] improved his body, but each time it increased his attributes by a very small amount.
Due to his excessive training Bolt was dead tired lying on the ground, he exhausted himself beyond limits, it took him almost an hour before he was barely able to walk.
One Piece world people have stronger bodies compared to Earth's people, if someone on the Earth trained similar to Bolt, that person would have been hospitalized.
When they were returning home, Leo told him to take it easy. Bolt did not listen to his advice, ha said he will train tomorrow with even more intensity. Leo was worried about him, what if something happened to him because of excessive training. So Leo finally decided to tell him. "Don't compare yourself to me. I don't know why but my body is a little special, it recovers very fast, that's why I don't have a problem with intensive training."
Bolt did not believe him. "Special body?" He laughed derisively. "Do you think I am a fool like Blacky? Who believes in every ridiculous lie others tell him."
Leo sighed. "Why would I lie to you? I am just worried."
Bolt looked at Leo, he really wasn't fooling around. So Bolt seriously thought about what Leo said, and then he believed him. Even after such intensive training, Leo looked even more energetic than before, and he, who trained not as intensive as him, was barely managing to walk.
Finally, bolt believed him. "Why did you never mention that 'Special Body' of yours to us?"
"Even I didn't know about that, only today I found out during training."
"Lucky you!" Bolt was a little envious, very, very, little envious, mind you. Just then he thought of something. "You have the 'Special Body', but I have more time to train than you." He started laughing proudly. Bolt was the kid with the most free time in the town, he did not have to help his parents in earning money, he still wasn't at the age to go out to the seas with his father.
Leo has to help his mother in the tavern, so he has less time to train compared to Bolt. But still, he has very much free time compared to other kids in the town.
Leo was surprised at Bolt's emotional recovery, it was even faster than [Limitless], looking at his laughing proud face it felt like having 'Special Body' was nothing compared to him having more time. Leo also started laughing with him.
After dinner, Nejiko asked Leo about his outing. Leo hesitated if he should tell her about the training or not.
Seeing his hesitant expression Nejiko smiled. "You don't have to hide your training, Bolt's mother already told me about it."
Leo grew red in the face, he stammered. "S-Sorry mom. I wasn't trying to hide, I just - " He didn't know how to continue.
Nejiko smiled. "You thought I wouldn't let you train, right?"
Leo's face grew even redder. He dropped his gaze. Yes, exactly that was he thought. His mom cared so much about him, so he thought she would not like him suffering due to training.
When Nejiko saw Leo coming back alive, and how he got healed, she knew he was blessed by God, he was special. From how he saved her from those pirates, and the torture he suffered, she knew he was strong. She put her hand on his chest. "You are strong here." She looked into his eyes. "If someone has a strong heart, there is nothing that they cannot accomplish. So from now on, you will never have to hide anything from me. I will always support you." Her eyes were firm. "I believe you will be even stronger. From now on you don't have to help me in the tavern, you can focus fully on your training."
Leo felt blessed for having such a mother. "No, I will continue to help you. Helping you is the most enjoyable thing for me, it gives me the energy to keep going for the things I want to do."
Nejiko smiled. "Aren't you a sweet talker?" She kissed him on the forehead and then hugged him. "Okay, it's time for your bed. Go to your bed. I will come up after tidying up the kitchen."
Leo went to his bedroom. After some time, as usual, Nejiko came into his room, covered him with a blanket, kissed on his forehead, and then whispered 'Sweet Dreams' into his ear.
And as usual, Leo opened his eye, but this time he did not wipe his forehead, he just smiled.
He decided to train in [White Space] before sleeping.
He willed to enter [White Space]. His body remained on the bed, but his consciousness was already in the pure white space. There was only the edgeless hard glossy pure white floor to stand on, and around him was the endless white space.
Leo willed 'Ultimate Sparring Partner' to appear and set its attribute the same as him. Just as he willed, an exact copy of him appeared in front of him. Leo decided to call it 'Master Leo' instead of complicated 'Ultimate Sparring Partner'.
"Hi, Master Leo. It's nice meeting you again." Leo greeted with a smile.
But 'Master Leo' was as emotionless as ever, he just kept staring at him.
For a moment there was an awkward atmosphere, which only felt by Leo.
Leo shook his head, and then his face turned serious. "I can't waste more time, I have only two hours."
"Let's get on with our sparring." Both Leo and Master Leo rushed at each other.
As an amateur he was, the only thing that came to his mind was, punching blindly at Master Leo.
Even before Leo threw his punch, Master Leo knew that he was going to punch, and knew exactly where it was going to hit. He stepped aside and avoided the punch as if it was easy as breathing.
Immediately after this Master Leo punched at Leo's face. And of course, Leo took the punch squarely on his face without any doubt.
"BAM."
Leo's nose broke, it started bleeding. Even though his front teeth did not come out, they were already loose. They only needed another punch to fly free as a bird.
"Ahhh...." Leo screamed like a little girl. "How could I forget the beating from last time? I should have never kept Master Leo's stats the same as me." Master Leo was the terrifying monster of close combat. Now there is no point crying over spilled milk. He could adjust the stats only one time in each sparring session. Leo got beaten until he was black and blue until he was dead.
Then again he was brought back to life and the same process was repeated again and again. Leo tried everything, but he felt like he was fighting with the air. It felt like even before him, Master Leo knew what he was going to do next. It was frustrating. He felt like smashing the keyboard on the desktop. "Fuck, I am not playing this game anymore."
Leo did not think that Master Leo was so easily handling him just because he was an amateur. Even if in place of him there was 'Katakuri' with his 'Future Vision' he would have the same experience as him. He also would have smashed his keyboard on the desktop and quit the game. "I am done. It's better to continue eating donuts."
Master Leo wasn't even using Observation Haki, he was making everyone quit the game just using his fighting instincts.
Finally, after two hours, which felt like endless, Leo's consciousness returned to his body. The white energy started permeating throughout his body and mind. And finally, he understood the meaning of 'fighting instinct'.
Even though he experienced such a thing before, his previous self before the incident never pondered on it.
