Kapitel 4: Chapter 4- A new addition

First the principal's office, now the school infirmary. This really isn't my day, is it?

I flinched as the nurse spread her mana around my arm to fix my sprain.

"No moving." She ordered.

"Ah, my bad" I apologized.

"I understand you probably feel fatigued, but please bear with it. This shouldn't take long."

"Okay."

I decided to distract myself by looking over at the other two, which turned out to be a bad idea. Luna was floating in the air and summoning purple and red stars. She controlled the stars and had them circle around her and make different shapes out of them. Just what is her magic?

Demon boy was fast asleep, which was probably for the best. The nurse said he didn't have much mana left, but I wouldn't bet my life that he couldn't transform into something else.

"And done."

I looked back over to see her releasing her mana from around my arm. "See that wasn't so bad, was it?" She gave me a heartfelt smile.

"Ahh, thank you miss, umm?"

"Alora." She stood up and offered me a hand. I hesitantly reached with my right hand, half expecting to be met with severe pain. To my surprise, my arm felt completely fine. She pulled me up and smiled even more.

"I see you didn't trust me at all."

Not even a little, I thought.

I laughed. "It was so painful before, I was just a little worried."

"Well trust me in the future then."

"The future?"

"With antics like this on your first day, I'm sure you'll be back here at least a few more times."

"I'll try not to."

She looked at me but didn't say anything. She probably didn't believe me. Can't say I blame her.

"I have to go check on something. Stay here for now; don't worry about your classes, just get some rest. Oh, also, Say hi to Esther for me." And with that she walked off.

How many affiliates does she have within this school?

I tested my arm a bit more to make sure it was at one hundred percent. Once I felt fine I laid back down on the pillow and closed my eyes.

So much has happened today. At least I can finally get some rest. Unless...

I opened my eyes, and to my dismay, Luna was looking right at me, her starry eyes glowing bright. We stared at each other for a few seconds. She blinked a couple times but didn't utter a word.

"Is associate okay?" She said.

I sighed. "The associate is fi—wait why am I the associate? You're supposed to be the associate."

"Well a relationship is two ways," she said. Her tone now was completely different than her usual hyperactive and silly tone. It was a lot more logical. Almost made her seem normal. "If I'm an associate to you, then what are you to me?"

"Your master."

"Can I call you young master?"

I sighed and closed my eyes. "Let's not."

I don't know what Luna's thought process was, but she probably got the idea that I wanted to rest and left me alone, because I didn't hear a thing after that. Well for a few seconds at least. Then I heard a loud wailing that made me open my eyes.

"Aaaaaahh!"

I looked over to my left. Surprisingly, Luna was on edge as well. We both looked over to the boy who was fast asleep mere seconds ago. He looked at his surroundings and matched eye contact with me. I gave him my best apathetic expression, to which he replied by quickly looking away.

Good, I thought. He better.

Luna floated over to him, which made him retreat into a ball at the top of the bed, as if she was the demon.

"P-p-please don't come near me!"

But unluckily for him, she didn't seem to care about his timid demands and ignored him. She raised her hands up with excitement, which scared him even more.

"Lunch buddy!

"Huh?" His fear turned into confusion as he gave her a puzzled expression.

Huh. The best way to express how I feel about today.

"Lunch buddy!" She repeated. "You're back to normal! You're not a black giant anymore. Kinda sad. I liked you like that. Like a big bodyguard. But still, lunch buddy!"

Please just shut up.

"Please Luna, Don't come near me."

"But why?"

"I might transform again and hurt you."

"But Miss Allure said you're almost out of mana."

It's been awhile since I've heard someone's name being butchered so bad. Sadly, pointing it out to Luna probably won't solve anything.

She floated over until she was right next to him. Then she grabbed his hands and raised them and her hands into the air.

"Lunch buddies! Lunch buddies!"

I turned over to the left and covered my ear with the pillow to try and block out the stupid mantra she was announcing to the world.

She doesn't exist. She doesn't exist. She doesn't exist. Hopefully if I told myself enough times, she would actually disappear. Sadly that was just wishful thinking.

She made her existence very apparent when she decided to jump onto my bed and nearly startled me, but as far as I knew she was the only one nearby crazy enough to do it.

"Eli!"

"Hmm?" I said, trying to grasp what little sanity I still had.

"We have three people now! The lunch buddy movement is a go!" She gave me a thumbs up.

Since when was it a movement?

"Just out of curiosity, how many 'lunch buddies' are you trying to recruit?"

She thought about it for a second. "If I try hard enough, I think I can get the whole class. No wait, the school!"

She thinks big, I'll give her that.

"N-n-not t-to be mean or anything Luna but I never accepted being a lunch friend or whatever you call it."

"You didn't hear her? It's lunch buddy," I said sarcastically.

"What he said," Luna said enthusiastically.

He looked over at me. "You're the new kid right? You're attractive and you seem pretty intelligent. Girls were even flocking over you at lunch. Why did you choose someone as...quirky as Luna to be your friend?"

"...I didn't."

"...oh. My condolences." He put his head down like he was mourning.

"Don't act like your not apart of this. You're a lunch buddy too now." I said sourly.

"But that doesn't even make sense! We aren't even at lunch! And why don't I get a choice?"

"I don't make the rules." I pointed at Luna, who got bored and started making more stars. "She does."

"Ugh. And my mom told me to make sure I don't get pulled in by the wrong crowd."

A momma's boy, eh? I'll take note of that. May be useful in guilt tripping him later.

"Don't worry Conard. Just think of us as insurance for whenever you turn into a demon again." Luna said.

"Wait, you two stopped me?"

I groaned thinking about it. "Yes, and we're not doing it again."

She got up in my face, grinning. "But Eli!" Her eyes were twinkling. Like, literally twinkling. The star in her eyes had multiplied into five smaller stars and they were all shining bright and moving very vibrantly

Is that norma—no, of course it's not. Why even ask?

"Don't call me that."

"But Eli!" She said, ignoring me. "We can become—

"I'm not interested in becoming heroes."

"And I definitely don't want to be the monster you slay to become famous." Conard chimed in.

Luna puffed up her cheeks like a child does when they can't get a cookie. "You're both just party poopers."

I ignored her. I turned my attention to Conard. "So based on how relaxed Principal Reya was about the whole situation, I take it this isn't the first time this has happened." I asked.

He blushed, embarrassed. "W-well, last time I lost control and transformed, it took the police to stop me. Although, back then only half my mana was used for the transformation...wait, how did you two alone stop me when I used nearly all my mana!?"

I pointed to Luna. "Thank this one. I didn't do anything."

Luna slapped me in the back. Luckily, she had potato strength, because my body was already fatigued from having no mana. "Hahah, don't be so modest Eli. You helped too. You distracted it."

"I was little more than annoyance." I corrected. "If anything I was target practice."

"Ahah, s-sorry," Conrad said. "I hope you weren't hurt too bad."

Before I could reply, a short woman sprinted through the door. She had long chestnut hair that combined into a singular braid and dark blue eyes. She was wearing a white blouse with a black skirt and black high heels that made me question how she ran here.

She scanned the room and laid eyes upon Luna and me. She ran to Luna and engrossed her in what looked like a hug of death.

"Oh Luna! What happened!? Are you alright?" She asked as she seemingly squeezed the life out of her.

Unsurprisingly, Luna looked fairly unaffected by it and was giggling as the woman hugged tighter and tighter. Eventually It must've gotten too tight, because Luna disappeared and reappeared next to me, leaving the woman with purple stardust.

She waved her hand nonchalantly. "I'm fine Miss Noya. You worry too much." She said in an exaggerated manner.

"Oh, are you sure?" She asked worriedly.

"Positive!"

Then the woman turned to me. "What about you Elijah? You don't look so well."

I jumped a little, hoping a wrong answer didn't grant me a death hug.

"I just used a little too much mana. I'll be fine."

The woman took a deep breath and straightened her hair, which was admittedly a bit messy, although it's not like it took away from her beauty..

"That's good then. Oh...I forgot I haven't introduced myself. My name is Noya Bellerose. I'll be your home room teacher this year.

Right. I forgot I missed my first period. Honestly, going probably would've allowed me to avoid the mess I'm in now. Maybe I'd even be assigned a guide so I could find out where things were.

I tried to smile as genuinely as I could, which wasn't hard considering how nice she was. "Nice to meet you Miss Noya."

"Wait," Conard yelled. Were you not worried about me!?"

I can't even act like I didn't forget he was there.

"I mean, you did cause this whole incident," she said. "Besides, you were the least likely to get hurt considering how strong your demons are."

"But..."

She ignored him. "I'm just glad there weren't too many casualties."

Conard made a face but didn't say anything.

"Well, now that I know you're alright, I'm going to enjoy the rest of my break before my class starts.

How nice, I thought. To take time out of her break to make sure we were okay. She might be the third nicest person I've ever met, after Esther and my mother.

"Thank you for worrying about us," I said.

"Yah, you're the best Miss Noya!"

She blushed a little. "Ahh, thank you Luna." Then she looked over at me and smiled. I hope to see you tomorrow, Elijah."

I nodded.

She turned around when to leave when she paused for a second and turned around.

"By the way Luna, can I trust you to show Elijah where the gym is for next period?"

Luna posed like she was responding to a sergeant. "Roger!"

"Thank you very much. I appreciate it."

And with that she left.

"Well, she was lively." I said.

"But of course! Miss Noya is the best teacher ever."

"Hmm? What's your opinion of her, lunch buddy?" I said.

He folded his arms. "She's mean."

Is he actually hurt from her not worrying about him? I see he's not that strong mentally. I'm going to have fun using him in the future.

"So when does gym start?" I asked.

Just then, the bell rang.

"Well never mind."

"It's gym time! Woohoo."

Conard groaned.

"It's fine. I'll get you both there fast!" Luna sang.

Just as she said that, Conard got a horrified look on his face. "Luna, please don't. I can walk!"

"No can do. We're already late!"

"What's demon boy so afraid of?"

"Magic!"

Before I had time to process what she meant, she abducted Conard from his bed with her stars and made him float towards her. She grabbed him and yanked my arm.

"Off we go!" She yelled. Almost instantly, we appears outside the infirmary. Sadly, there wasn't even time to think about before we teleported again. And again. And again. The pause between her teleports couldn't have lasted more than a half second before she'd do it again. Eventually, everything became a blur and my head began to spin. It wasn't until about a minute later that she finally stopped. I dropped to the floor, feeling weaker than I was when I was in the infirmary. This was the worst iteration of motion sickness of I've ever felt.

I looked up to see the jerk who refused to give me directions a couple of hours before standing right by me. She looked down at me with a blank expression but didn't say anything. Then she looked straight ahead.

"Nice of you to join us today, new kid!" A raspy voice said.

I slowly got up to see a heavily built man with a neat black beard. He donned a blue tank top and yellow basketball shorts, which only emphasized his muscles.

"Since you're late, you get the opportunity of participating in the first mock battle of the day?"

"Mock battle?"

"He means sparring with magic," the girl with the headphones said.

Great...I thought. Just perfect.
