Several magic circles hovered in the air. Thin lines projected from them a connected to Kan'na. She guided these lines to another magic circle that was being created.
Hundred mumbled under his breath and lifted his staff, mana swirled towards the tip of in and began to form.
With a twirl of his staff Hundred pointed at Kan'na and shouted, "[Light Ray]!"
Kan'na clapped her hands together and the magic circle activated. A mist rapidly expanded and covered the area around her. The mist crackled with electricity, like a thundercloud that lingered on the surface.
As the light ray shot forward from Hundred's staff, the thundercloud responded. The moment the two spells made contact the light ray was stopped by a web of lightning.
Not perturbed by the outcome, Hundred tapped the ground with his staff. The dolls suddenly raised their arms and shot the magic orbs forward.
Kan'na called, "You know that won't work!"
"Are you so sure?"
Kan'na looked skywards and frowned, the magic circle was no longer listening to her commands. Immediately putting together the pieces she rapidly stepped out of the thundercloud.
As the thundercloud reacted automatically to defend itself, the parasite magic rapidly took action. Soon the thundercloud was also taken over.
She clicked her tongue, "There's more."
Hundred couldn't help but laugh confidently as he walked into the thundercloud, "Did you really think I would show off all my cards immediately? Of course there's more! Although it's such a pain, I manually implemented a parasite into that defense that lingers above us."
Kan'na snapped her finger and activated a magic circle. As it began to glow it suddenly paused and shattered. With a frown she examined her surroundings carefully.
Hundred smiled, "Missing something?"
"What did you do?"
"Oh I wonder?"
"Weren't you so eager to explain your actions earlier?"
"I only explained what you had figured out."
Kan'na outstretched her fingers and formed several magic circles at once. A the same time they all paused and shattered.
With a sigh she spoke, "You lied."
"Ahaha! Of course I did! You're not dealing with just some parasite magic Kan'na!"
"Puppeteer magic more like. You altered my defensive magic above us. It'll target any magic circle I create and interrupt it."
"Ah you're really clever, I honestly admired that about you. But I watched your moves carefully these few months. Constantly planning on how to counter your omniscient magic."
Shaking his head Hundred shrugged, "In an ironic way, I owe this to you. This magic here, I developed it through my own efforts. Through my efforts to study your magic. Something to purely counter you."
"Should I be flattered?", Kan'na asked.
"I don't care if you are. You don't stand a chance. My efforts, the overwhelming amount of prep time, and my execution. It's too much for you to handle."
"Then before you defeat me, why don't you answer one question?"
"Hm? I might, go ahead and ask."
"How much of my language to you understand?"
"Not a lot, I was only able to modify this a bit after all."
Kan'na chuckled faintly, "Ah, you're quite the genius. This magic has such a limited amount of people who understand it. I can count them on one hand! For you to change even this much without any assistance— you have my praise."
Dusting off her clothes Kan'na casually spoke, "Additionally I don't doubt the talented magicians lack knowledge regarding formations. From the knowledge I gathered from you, I believe you have a firm grasp on them."
Hundred's confident smile began to fade, "Enough, what are you on about?"
The ambient mana began to swirl, "There's a reason I never really use these you see."
A magic circle formed above Kan'na. It's complexity was headache inducing. The amount of runes to create this one circle was ridiculous.
As Hundred examined this he frowned, "That's. . ."
Kan'na finished his sentence, "Not the usual language right?"
The magic circle formed and did not shatter. As she expected, Hundred's alteration to her magic was focused purely on the game's language. Not her own. The magic circle flashed and a small beam shot forward. It hit the middle of the defensive magic circle floating above them.
The defensive magic circle stopped and shattered. Hundred watched this happen and shouted, "That can't be all! You didn't do all of that for just this!"
Kan'na laughed at his response, "That's why I don't use it anymore. It's not that effective, I have to overwrite this in order for it to be even useful."
"It doesn't matter anymore. This defensive cloud you made is enough. I'll be able to finish you off before you can rid of this too."
Kan'na did not respond, instead she pulled out a small twenty-sided die. Inspecting it she spoke, "The outcome of this battle depends on the gamble."
"You're going to gamble during such a time?!"
"Why not?"
Kan'na dropped the die and it fell to the ground. After bouncing and rolling to a stop, a number floated above it. She faintly smiled, "Twelve eh, not that bad."
A magic circle formed immediately above the die and shot towards Kan'na. It slammed itself onto her eye and created two additional circles, each one smaller than the last.
As Kan'na recovered from the violent addition, she spotted several spells heading towards her. Raising her hand she created four small magic circles and activated them. The harmful spells stopped midair and exploded.
Walking forward she explained, "A lovely spell. It allows me to see the very instructions you gave the mana. Knowing these, I'm able to counter with little effort."
Hundred's expression wavered, "Why would you leave such a powerful spell to a die?!"
"It's a really complicated spell, being able to see the instructions and then translating them so I can understand better. It took me nearly an hour to form it. What kind of battle would give me an hour's worth of downtime?"
"Fine! I'll just take over that spell too!"
Hundred tapped his staff on the ground. Yet this time the dolls did not raise their hands. With a frown Hundred tapped the ground with his staff again.
Kan'na continued, "Puppeteer magic, something truly interesting. The fact it's directly linked to you means I won't be able to disable it."
"On the contrary! Why are they not listening?!"
"I was unable to completely disable these dolls. However I did cut off their communication with you."
Hundred clenched his staff, "No! I spent so long for this!"
"Yeah, your efforts, the overwhelming amount of prep time, and your execution. I managed to overcome it all."
"That's not possible!"
"Additionally, you walked right into it!"
Hundred's heart stopped as he looked down. Obscured by the thundercloud, a formation was faintly glowing. He helplessly murmured, "You couldn't have. You expected this too?"
"Goodbye Hundred."
The formation activated and a powerful barrier formed. Hundred looked up and stared at Kan'n, what he felt was unable to be understood by his gaze.
An explosion erupted, but the barrier prevented it from doing any damage to the outside of it. Kan'na touched the barrier, "A mage like you would bring quite the benefit to this continent. Once you're free from Perina, spend time to reflect on yourself."
<You have killed Player (Hundred Green)! Due to the unique circumstances, you will face no consequence.>
Truthfully she was incredibly pleased. Hundred was among the few sorcerer players she could respect. To have learned this much just by studying her, without a proper mentorship? Hundred was quite possibly a genius among the masses. She felt it was a shame they had to be opponents. If there were other circumstances. . .
Kan'na sighed inwardly. After picking up the die she began to walk towards where Nimin ran. She too was going to assist in the fight against Perina.
