"Oh? This is quite intriguing."
"Hmm? What is it this time?"
"The Guilds are rallying against Two Tries."
"Really? How many players are there?"
"It isn't just players. It's NPCs and various monsters too. Numbering in the thousands."
"What?"
"The tames and companions of the players decided to join as well. To think such a large battle to fight one opponent. Ha!"
"Do they pose a threat?"
"Which side?"
"The one with the thousands. You think they could actually kill Two Tries?"
"Hmm, the majority of them are at First Stage, only a handful are actually above that. None reaching Third Stage. Considering Two Tries' absurd strength. . . it's going to be a slaughter."
"Should I get them on the job?"
"Definitely, this could serve as some potential advertisement if it blows up."
"Alright."
~ ~ ~
"Reporting to you live from A World's Legacy. For the first time thousands of players have rallied together for something not being an in-game event! Rather they have come to battle a single opponent!"
The reported tapped the shoulder of a player, "Excuse me, why are you doing this?"
"Dot has become too arrogant, trying to suppress us with his strength. We decided it's time for him to be taught a lesson!"
"Isn't this overkill?"
"Dot had extraordinary strength, but this should be more than enough. We believe that this time we'll succeed."
"If you don't?"
"If we fail here, then Dot becomes untouchable."
"Well thank you for answering our questions, is there anything you'd like to say to the people watching?"
"Dot will die today!"
~ ~ ~
"There seems to be quite the large army at the gate."
"Hmm? Are they planning to breach?"
"No, they seem to be waiting for someone."
"Someone?"
"Yes Lord, they seem to have gathered to fight a single opponent."
"A single opponent? Moreover at the gate?"
A smile crept on the face of a certain Royal, "I see, so he's gone this far. Dimitrin! Notify my actions to the other Dukes, I'm going to watch."
"Yes my Lord!"
"Now then, how much have you improved?"
~ ~ ~
"Ha! That guy is truly ridiculous."
Yielya looked over, "Hmm? What is it?"
"Remember that Dot fellow that saved us from Rygeth?"
"Yeah?"
"He's gone and angered all the Guilds. They have gathered together to fight him."
"Heh, do you think he'll win?"
"His strength is greater than ours, when I first fought him he was only slightly above average in his ability. I kinda wanna watch to see how much he has improved."
"If you two were to fight, who would win?"
"Right now? I couldn't say, perhaps I'll answer that after this battle. It makes me nostalgic."
"Perhaps he'll be on the monthly highlight."
"If he succeeds then it will definitely be the main showcase."
~ ~ ~
Travis clicked off the livestream, a grin plastered on his face.
It was all according to plan.
Normally the other Guilds wouldn't be so quick to join in an event like this. But with his constant pestering he had managed to anger them too.
Now they were right where he wanted them. By wiping them all out here they would have no place for arrogance. The livestream would broadcast his intentions, word would spread like wildfire. Support for the Guilds would drop, and his cause would be backed by hundreds, thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of players!
By then they would have to bend their knee and oblige to his demands, all to keep the backlash at a low.
He hadn't joined just yet for one reason. The player's blood was boiling, the moment he joined he would be jumped without hesitation. The entire time he had been waiting for their heads to cool, and doubts to spread of his arrival.
That was now, heading towards his bed he placed the helmet on and logged in.
He spawned in, his figure on top of a pillar standing alone. The players grew quiet as they spotted a figure that looked incredibly familiar.
Travis shouted, enhancing his voice with mana, "It seems you have accepted my invitation! Glad to see many of you were courteous to accept!"
"Dot! You will die today!"
Travis turned his head slightly, "Oho! Uranium! It's been a while! I see you went ahead and spread that video for me!"
"Speak the big words all you want Dot! You will die here, and you will never bother us again?"
"Says who?"
"Says this!"
<Warning! You have been inflicted with Curse of Gluttony. If you die within 5 hours your account will reset!>
"Ah lovely, an Orb of Gluttony. It seems like you paid quite the price to put a stop to me."
"Getting rid of you is worth any price!"
"That's not something you can afford!"
There were shouts of displeasure from the players. Many charging towards him.
Travis shook his head, "Is it really wrong of me? To want fairness for all players? Not the clear bias towards Guilds? Is that such a crime?"
"Don't play the hero now Dot! You have suppressed our actions, you have killed us!"
"I simply used the same tactics as you!"
"Silence! You will die today!"
'This is quite the show.' -Abe
'Mm! To think so many are ignorant in their wrongful ways.' -Lumen
Travis smiled and reached for his swords, "I think this time around I'll take things seriously."
He simultaneously drew both Abe and Lumen, a blade of white and a blade of black in his hands. Many knowing people turning to shock upon realizing what was occurring.
"He really plans on fighting? It would be normal to run!"
"Ha! He really is arrogant!"
"Arrogance can't get you this far. This must be ignorance."
Travis jumped down and landed. Several hot blooded player jumping forward, eager to land the kill. Moving his swords quickly he delivered a fatal blow to them, killing each with one strike.
Suddenly surrounded with corpses Travis pointed Abe, "Come! Allow me to show you the difference between you and I!"
"We have thousands of players! Don't be afraid! Charge!"
The earth shook from the thunderous footsteps as the players charged. Spells and arrows flung forward.
'Are you really confident in handling this many?' -Abe
"Don't you know me?"
'. . . Then tear them apart.'
'Yeah! Let's go!' -Lumen
Travis took a breath, his heart calmed. He was already mentally prepared for this battle. Even though he ran the risk of dying and losing his account. He didn't feel fear.
There was no threat, the crisis he faced was nothing compared to what he had faced before.
His first encounter with Lord Flinnder. His near death battles with Dimitrin. The battle to become Champion. The Abyssal Royals' Competition. The fight with the Druid. The forceful encounter with Lucidus Lumen.
All of those near account wipe situations. They had pushed him beyond his limit, he had to forcefully evolved himself beyond. Where he was now was the accumulation of his experiences, his effort, his desire!
Compared to all that. . .
This seemed like a walk in the park.
He pushed himself forward, the force from his push sent him flying. He glided through the air towards the horde of opponents.
His War Sight couldn't reach all of the enemies. It's effect would be significantly reduced with so many anyway. Besides, his goal wasn't to have them blame their loss on an overpowered Skill. But his own sheer strength.
The arrows and spells hit his previous location, there was no way they were going to hit him with his speed.
Swords gleaming under the fading sunlight, Travis began his slaughter!
~ ~ ~
"Seriously? That's a riot!"
Laughter filled the room.
"Hmm? What is it this time?"
"Some guy is challenging thousands of people!"
"A death wish? Unless?"
"No, he shouldn't be at too high of a Stage. He's like me."
"I see, so his actions have caught your interest?"
"Well it wouldn't be the first time some small group angered the Guilds. Those guys are arrogant to no bounds anyway."
". . ."
"Yet, if he succeeds. . ."
"Your next opponent?"
"Well he's the strongest I can find besides my brother. I can't believe he beat you first try."
"Technically in two tries."
"Hmm?"
"He was able to come back to life."
"So no break between combat? Nah, that still counts as one try to me. It took me so many attempts to get here."
"So what if he succeeds?"
"Then I'll test my strength against him. Really exert myself you know? I just have this feeling, that this guy is something else."
". . ."
"It's been great fighting you, I've learned so much. If only I had this strength before."
"Straight ahead, it is the only available path."
"I know, I can't help hit reminisce about it."
"So, are you finally ready?"
"Aye, I think I've mentally rested. What's my reward?"
Indeed, it was Opportunity. After an unknown amount of attempts, she had finally beaten the three hundredth floor of the Tower of Strength Extremity.
"Are you aware of what the slime had received for his reward?"
"Nope, he never said. Or I don't remember?"
"He received my daughter."
Rebecca inhaled sharply, "I never took him for someone who would accept a girl as a reward!"
"Your jokes would upset him."
"Sorry sorry, but I never knew you had a daughter!"
"She was bound to the tower just like myself. To save her I had created a contract with the tower, and helped feed itself."
"So he had freed your daughter?"
"Yes, he has my eternal gratitude for that."
"Hmm."
"As for your reward, only something of equal value would suffice."
"Ah?"
"Yes, that would be me."
