Akiol walked into a clearing.
A group of four were chatting amongst themselves.
Akiol walked up, "Yo, you all look different."
The group quieted. The four were the group Akiol had met when he was facing the Mecha.
Basil was dressed in a different set of priest gear. A set of white and gold robes covered his body. A beautiful staff held in his hands.
Think was covered in lighter armor compared to last time. His sword rested on his hip.
Rough carried a buckler compared to the large shield he had before. Though he still held a short-sword.
Quill had the most significant change, two horns were on her head. She no longer held a staff, instead an orb floated in her hand. Upon a closer look one would find a hint of scales on her skin.
Think chuckled, "That's for sure, though why haven't you? Is the equipment really that good?"
Akiol manipulated his body to show the beginning gear, "I don't have equipment. There's no point."
"Oh yeah, your race. I didn't know that you didn't have equipment though. What about that floating object?"
"Destroyed sadly."
"My condolences."
Torch appeared through the bushes, "What quest are we doing?"
Quill winced, "I thought you had a voice modulator. . . or whatever it was."
"Not for this body. Pure fire power, it would be a waste of space to have a voice module."
"I see."
Think cracked his neck, "Basil, give us the rundown."
"We have a relatively easy one. We are tasked to subjugate an uprising bandit group. Their strength shouldn't be an issue, but their leader is a Mini boss. So taking them down would take a little time."
"A Mini boss?"
Basil looked at Akiol questioningly, "Yeah?"
"Sorry, I haven't run into a Mini boss before. I didn't think they were in this game."
"They are just weaker bosses."
"I am aware of what they are. I just haven't seen one before. I've only seen Elites and actual bosses before."
Rough snapped his fingers, "Didn't you take down a Land Guardian before?"
"With my party, but yeah. Why?"
"Oh it has nothing to do with the conversation, I just remembered noticing your name on an announcement before."
Basil and Think looked at Rough with an odd look. Rough scratched his head, "I just wanted to confirm."
Basil cleared his throat, "Anyway, we gathered here because said bandit group is over yonder. By that I mean legitimately just around that hill."
Basil pointed to a hill a decent distance away. Akiol raised an eyebrow at this, "Wouldn't they have noticed?"
Basil shrugged, "Maybe."
Akiol was nearly dumbfounded at the carelessness of the party. Was it confidence? Or did they just not care? Akiol couldn't tell, so he kept his thoughts to himself.
Basil twirled his staff, "Roll out squad!"
The group began making the trip to the unnecessarily close bandit camp. Within five minutes they turned the corner and spotted the bandit camp.
The camp was simple, several tents were pitched up at random locations. A bonfire lit the middle, a few bandits relaxed near it. At the very back a much larger tent was up, the entrance closed.
The perimeter around it was unguarded for the most part. A few select bandits lazily walked around to 'secure' the area.
One of these bandits spotted the group and shouted, "Intruders?"
Think commented, "Looks like stealth is out of the window."
Then what happened next shocked the group. More bandits came running towards them than expected. Akiol rapidly did an estimate head count. He then found out there was a little more than a hundred bandits.
The group hurriedly readied up. Rough asked sarcastically, "How many did it say we had to subjugate?!"
Basil merely mumbled the reply, "Twenty. . . we had to subjugate twenty."
Torch clicked his fingers together excitedly, "This works! I get to test my stuff!"
Quill raised the orb in front of her and chanted. As Akiol heard the chant he realized he couldn't understand it at all. It was a strange language, or an incredibly warped voice.
The ball grew brilliantly. An incredibly unique and strange rune appeared over the horde of bandits. It flashed and suddenly every bandit froze in place.
Think was amazed, "You froze them all! What was your class again?"
"Draconic Mage."
"We have the power of a dragon! This shall be easy!"
"It's not actually dragon power. You also have about five seconds before the spell runs out."
Torch was the first to leap into action. Flicking his wrist the mana saber appeared and he began carving through the bandits.
It wasn't enough to kill them. At this stage of the game killing things instantly near the same level wouldn't be easy. The further a player goes in level, the harder the opponents. So Torch's potent weapon was enough to injure. Just not significantly.
Think followed, his blade flickered as it flowed through the enemies slowly.
He was a variant of Warrior called Sword Master. The Warrior had two different paths to switch to upon reaching the variant stage. The first was Sword Master, which provided short cooldown, low damaging, moves designed for combos. They were more agile than traditional warriors, but were still beat by the thief class and its variants. The second variant was called Champion. Which provided the opposite of Sword Master. With high damage, longer cooldown, skills this variant was meant to dish out large damage in a short timeframe. It rapidly grew popular in dungeons, for it became a top damage dealing class.
Rough also joined the battle around the time the bandits began to move. Occasionally Akiol would see him smack a weapon out of the way and viciously counterattack.
This was another Variant of the Defender class. Besides Holy Knight, the other Variant was Counter Expert. The majority of this Variant's moves were built around countering incoming attacks. Skilled players with this class could still easily tank bosses, while also being viable in pvp.
However due to the extreme difference between the two variants some Defenders opted to not choose a Variant. Instead they continued down the path of an ordinary Defender.
Whilst the two tore down the horde of bandits Quill would occasionally use some strange spell with stranger effects.
Torch released his Elite compressed robots from his back to assist with the battle. Slowly but surely the bandits were dwindling in number.
Meanwhile Akiol was chilling in the back with Quill and Basil. As he watched Basil asked, "Aren't you going to help?"
Akiol shrugged, "If you want me to. This is your quest, I didn't want to help and it somehow interfere."
"It will be fine, the quest is essentially finished now anyway."
Akiol started moving towards the crowd, "Alright, don't blame me if something goes wrong."
Some bandits charged towards Akiol when he got close. Three attacked him at different angles. Yet their movements were slow.
Akiol moved to dodge one attack. He then elbowed another bandit to make him miss, while using his knuckle to push away the third attack with a quick jab.
This all happened relatively quickly. The bandits stumbled as they were unable to react to Akiol's movements.
Akiol quickly defeated the three bandits. While he wasn't as skilled as Wrock when it came to hand to hand combat, he was still confident in battle.
In fact Akiol was well skilled with a majority of weapons. The sword was just the one he was best with.
Akiol moved through the bandits. Around him bandits fell, either from tripping due to Akiol's actions, or dead.
Akiol was quite pleased with the outcome. This just showed how much stronger he became. Even through all of this he didn't use Aura.
Akiol tilted his head as an arrow flew past. Sliding his foot across the ground he tripped a bandit. That bandit knocked into another bandit which caused them to miss their strike.
Akiol leaned back as an axe cut through the air where he was. He threw a fast punch and smashed the bandit's nose.
The bandits shuffled, creating a ring around Akiol. As he observed this he found something odd about the whole situation. Bandits were very cowardly, the moment a situation turns even slightly unfavorable they would flee. Yet these bandits were determined. Moreover they haven't spoken a single word!
A bandit charged forward and swung down with a large wooden bat. Akiol moved slightly to dodge the bat. He raised his foot and delivered two swift kicks. One on the bandit's arm to loosen the grip on their weapon. And the other on their hand to make them drop the weapon.
Akiol then delivered a powerful kick to the bandit's jaw, making them fall to the ground.
He leaned to the left, a knife missed his head. Akiol gripped the arm of the wielder and flipped them over his shoulder and onto the ground.
He quickly turned and delivered a swift strike to another incoming bandit's arm. This prevented them from swinging their weapon momentarily, though that was all Akiol needed. He delivered a powerful blow onto the bandit's face. Causing them to flip a singular time before collapsing on the ground.
A voice shouted across the field, "Khahahaha! You troublesome adventurers! What are you doing in my territory?!"
