The first wave attacks were low level spells and arrows. It was incredibly easy to dodge, for most of the attacks weren't directed towards him. Vengeful's squad returned fire, similar projectiles flew forward.
It only took a few seconds for the melee players to close the distance. The war cries and clash of metal filled the ears. Thieves and their evolved class started their attack on the back lines. Archers and Sorcerers were stabbed and eliminated.
Akiol too was in the fray of battle. He dodged between attacks and threw out his own.
He spun to the side, dodging a Berserker's large sword while simultaneously shoving his elbow into the eye of the player next to him. The player recoiled and stumbled back into his allies.
Akiol used his other arm and thrust his sword into the Berserker, dealing a good amount of damage. His goal was, of course, Thrash. Eliminating the commanding individual almost always affected the morale of enemy soldiers.
Moreover Akiol had obtained his first [Dimensional Tick]. It was the poison attribute, making the enemy players' health slowly drop.
Akiol saw Thrash giving out orders. He had planned to use [Dimension Skip] to appear next to him but a change in the battlefield made him halt this idea.
Five triangles appeared around the battlefield. Upside down their tip shot a line into the earth, each line connecting to another to form walls.
The walls formed in less than two seconds, making everyone halt. A series of notifications appeared in front of everyone.
<You have been affected sealed by ???>
<All stats receive a temporary debuff of 30%.>
"Well what is going on here?" Another player said, outside the walls.
Vengeful and Thrash turned pale, Akiol noticed the once battle driven players turned nervous.
Vengeful responded carefully, "A small conflict."
Thrash nodded vigorously, "A disagreement of opinion between us. There is no need for your great guild to bother themselves with us."
The player looked around, "Clearly, yet what is it your fighting over?"
Vengeful grit his teeth, the person asking questions was a high ranking official of the guild Jumpstart Pavilion named Reverence. Someone that he wouldn't dare offend. Asking questions like that wasn't fair.
"As much as I don't understand guilds, I sure don't appreciate this sealing device." Akiol interrupted.
Reverence focused on Akiol, "And who might you be?"
"The name's Akiol, I suppose you could say I was the cause of this."
Vengeful cringed, there wasn't any respect in Akiol's voice. Jumpstart Pavilion was one of the top 10 guilds in A World's Legacy. Being a high ranked official definitely required some respect!
"Oh? Would you be kind enough to confirm this. . . Thrash?" Reverence tossed his gaze over, a lingering threat in his voice.
Thrash was quick to pin the blame on someone, "Of course, that player claims to be the only one who has knowledge of what the large beacon was."
Reverence gave a pleasant smile, "That's what I like to hear. Now. . . Akiol was it? You wouldn't mind handing that info over to us would you?"
Akiol shrugged, "If there is a good enough price for it. It does me no good to keep it secret."
"A price huh? That's no good, I have no idea what amount of information you have! Though I could perhaps get you a position in our guild. . . whilst it wouldn't be a high one. I am sure you would still find many benefits for even the lowest position?"
Akiol smiled, "No thanks!"
Reverence's face turned annoyed, "It looks like I have to spell it out to you. I have your name, it would be easy for our guild to find you. It would be painfully easy to obtain whatever we wanted from you. So I suggest you accept the offer."
Akiol's smile remained, "I refuse. This sort of passive aggressive negotiation isn't to my taste. I do not care for your might or fame. The only thing I gauge is your actions."
Akiol walked up the the edge of the barrier, and activated [Dimension Skip] passing through the barrier next to Reverence, "Your actions do not befit the weight your voice carries."
Reverence's eyes narrowed, a group of players jumped out and surrounded Akiol. Weapons raised one of them shouted, "Step away now!"
Akiol grinned, "You want info? Well you better come with greeting gifts!"
The enemy players thrust their weapons towards Akiol. Intending to end him here and there.
To their shock he seemed to pop out of existence, reappearing out of the encirclement.
"Hostility is not a gift I'll accept."
Reverence held up his hand, the small squad immediately stood behind him, weapons sheathed.
"It seems your confidence is not unfounded. Honestly I was surprised you managed to escape the Tri Sealing Cage, it should have blocked all teleportation skills."
"It wasn't difficult, perhaps it was faulty."
Akiol then reached behind him and grabbed something mid air. It was a thing long needle, a purple greenish liquid covered it's tip.
Akiol flicked it away, "Again hostility is not a gift I'll accept. I will not repeat myself a third time."
". . ."
Reverence held up his hand in apology, "Do forgive me on my part, it seems like a subordinate disobeyed orders."
"That's not very organized." Akiol commented.
"How about an offer then, you seem confident in your abilities. How about a duel with one of my subordinates."
"What's the catch."
Reverence held up a finger, "You lose and you give us all the info you have. You win. . . well give you one request within our power, as long as it's reasonable of course."
Akiol's eyebrows raised, "That's a mighty fine reward, you sure you're just going to send just a subordinate?"
There was a rise in hostility behind Reverence, the squad that had originally surrounded Akiol was displeased with the comment.
"I will be sure to send my best."
"Very well then! I accept."
After signing an in-game contract Reverence picked out one of his subordinates.
A violet haired woman stepped forward, her armor looked like it was made of hard chitin, or bone. On her side was a sheathed sword. Noticing Akiol's damage sword she asked, "You're confident with that blade?"
"Of course, it still remains even after what it had been through."
She drew her sword, similarly it looked like it was made of bone. She raised her weapon into a stance.
Akiol also took his stance, Reverence raised his hand. Swinging down he yelled, "Begin!"
Neither moved, both waiting for their opponent to make the first move. Akiol made small talk to try to throw off his opponent's tempo, "I never caught your name."
He only received a curt reply, "Unyielding Blossom."
"It's Akiol here, in case you didn't hear."
As he made small talk he was inching closer, Unyielding Blossom noticed this and kept alert.
Akiol used [Dimension Skip] and appeared behind her. Unyielding Blossom turned and attacked. Akiol blocked the attack and followed up with a roundhouse kick.
Unyielding Blossom spun to the side, sliding her blade off of Akiol's. She continued the spin her sword aiming for the nape. Akiol ducked and rolled backwards, as he stood up be swung upwards aiming for her arm.
Unyielding Blossom leaned back, the sword barely missing her. Moving her arm in the opposite direction she swung towards Akiol. He similarly did the same and brought the sword down, clashing with hers.
"He's actually standing against her." One of the players said, baffled.
Reverence shook his head, "Your eye is still untrained, she is merely testing his level. She has yet to use a single skill."
The two traded blows, the dull sound of bones hitting each other became rhythmic. Akiol was decently impressed, Unyielding Blossom was definitely skilled. He could tell that she was an experienced fighter.
Unyielding Blossom shot a needle-like bone towards Akiol. He moved his head and it sailed past hitting something. Akiol knew that she would begin to use skills.
Unyielding Blossom stomped, several sharpened bones began to stick out of the ground. Not wishing to be impaled Akiol used [Leap] and dodged the bones.
Akiol landed and shot forward, he didn't want to be kept at a distance. Unyielding Blossom's sword changed, it separated into two crude like blades. Now dual wielding she attacked Akiol.
Dealing with two swords was a greater challenge, but Akiol could deal with it.
She stomped again, this time the bones were more spread out and much larger. Instead of using [Leap] like before he used [Dimension Dive].
The world turned grey and white, like an old movie. Since he only had five seconds he jumped above Unyielding Blossom. When his five seconds were up he was falling towards her, weapon ready to strike.
Unyielding Blossom saw the sudden change and raised her two bone weapons to block, except Akiol used [Dimension Pierce]. His sword traveled through the bone weapons and stabbed into Unyielding Blossom's face.
<Critical Hit! -300HP (Unyielding Blossom)>
Due to Akiol's weapon being damaged, the damage was less than what it could have been.
Unyielding Blossom quivered and began to change rapidly, her body was being covered with more bone armor, her face covered with a deer skull.
"She actually used her Berserk skill." Reverence mumbled.
