Wrock ducked under the air slicing whip. Carthino sighed, "This is getting a bit boring. I am going to attack faster now, try not to die okay?"
A bit faster was an understatement, the whip slashed and Wrock barely dodged. Instead of going back like usual, the whip curled and struck towards Wrock once more. Unable to dodge, Wrock kicked the whip upwards, hopefully his shoe would block the poison. Sadly, he severally underestimated the power behind the whip. He was pushed back and to the ground. Rolling to recover Wrock looked up to see the whip heading towards him like a missile.
Wrock jerked his head and the whip missed. Cold sweat formed at his neck, his eye had nearly been snatched!
Carthino was pleased, "Very good! Let's increase the tempo, what will be your limit?"
The situation was proving not only disadvantageous but also extremely weird. The whip cracked and speedily moved towards him. Wrock jumped over it, landed, and ducked under the whip after it changed direction.
Wrock decided he had no choice, if he was going to come even a little close to victory he would need to use his trump card. Taking a deep breath Wrock focused, Carthino noticed something strange happening and waited, her curiosity was perked.
Wrock slowly blinked and his eyes turned light blue, a couple inch thick light blue aura rose from his skin. This was his most recently created skill [The Fighting Spirit].
[The Fighting Spirit:
A strong opponent halts your path. Regardless of how badly you are losing your will to fight doesn't dim. Instead it ignites, filling you with determination and strength.
Cost: 500 MP
All Stats: +250%
Special Effect: Ever-growing fighting will.
If facing a singular enemy and fighting solo, buff increases by 25% every 30 seconds.
Duration: 5 1/2 minutes.
After Effect: Due to pushing your body beyond limits, suffer a temporary debuff of 40% to all stats for five hours.]
It was truly a trump card, at the fifth minute Wrock would obtain an additional 500% increase to stats for thirty seconds! This was meant for 1 v 1 battles, created to either close or surpass the stat gap. Yet Wrock believed it to be incomplete. However he would put off completing the skill for quite some time.
Carthino looked at Wrock with a new interest, "A strength enhancement skill? Or rather, I do believe you call them 'berserker skills' now right?"
Wrock said nothing, instead he dashed forward intending to close the distance while Carthino spoke.
Carthino caught on to this quickly and slashed her whip towards Wrock. With his current buff it was easy to dodge. Carthino began to swing her whip even faster and more violently. She let out a crazed laugh, "That's it! Fight to the end!"
Wrock dodged the whip again and again. Soon he got close enough for the whip to become near ineffective. Carthino retracted the whip, it began to shorten into a stick-like shape.
"Did you really think I had no close combat abilities?" Carthino teased.
She swung the contracted whip at inhumane speed. Wrock stopped the blow by predicting where her arm would be and placing his hand there. The contracted whip stopped short of his face.
Thirty seconds have passed, Wrock's buff had increased to 275%. Having become a bit faster and stronger Wrock quickly grabbed Carthino's arm and use it as a balance beam. In less than a second his body was parallel to Carthino's arm and he kicked her jaw. A sickening 'crunch' was heard and Wrock back flipped and retreated slightly.
Carthino's jaw had broken, it hung loosely the rotten skin stretching. She let out an anguished scream, "'ou 'are?! (you dare?!)"
Her eyes turned red and began to faintly smoke. Wrock made a face at this, "I hit you once! Why are you going berserk so suddenly?"
Overcome with rage Carthino extended her whip, this time spikes grew out of them. She began to swing her whip repeatedly at an even faster speed. With no breaks in between swings Wrock was losing the advantage. Now he truly understood he was only being toyed with.
He had a few seconds before his buff increased in again. He estimated that he would need another full minute before he could match Carthino's current speed.
The whip slashed his cheek, a thin red line formed along with a notification.
<You have been inflicted by: Carthino's Special Poison (Stage 1) -1% HP every 5 seconds.>
Wrock frowned at the notification, it was a deadly poison alright.
Another thirty seconds had passed, Wrock's buff had increased to 300%. This buff allowed him to barely dodge the whip. Ordinary players would only see a flurry of afterimages, however Wrock's experienced eye was keeping track constantly.
He only had to wait a little longer. He felt as if victory was at hand.

"Erina! You should come take a look at this." A coworker called.
Erina looked up, expecting one of her helpers wanting to show her a moment in the battle. However it was someone she hadn't asked.
This meant it was most likely important. She hesitantly rose from her seat and walked over. The coworker pulled up a recording.
A berserker and a sorcerer were fighting some masked player on the screen. To her surprise the masked player easily blocked a berserkers attack.
At that moment the coworker pulled up the status pages of all three players. Erina nodded in satisfaction at the berserker and sorcerers stats, they were definitely top tier. However she couldn't help but doubt the masked player's stats.
"Was it a bug?" She asked.
The coworker shook his head, "I already check, when he joined his stats were the same as everyone else."
"Then our very first cheater?" Erina asked, slightly doubtful.
The coworker shook his head again, "No, in fact I think this player obtained confidential information. From the very beginning this player had only completed hidden quests and quests that awarded stat crystals."
"Why would anyone even attempt such a thing? If they were found out then not only would they be fired, but they would also face charges!"
"Exactly, so I did even more digging. I had to gain access to the storage from the executives in order to do some further research. This guy had zero contact with any of our developers."
Erina cringed at that, "I never liked how we had access to more information then many people know."
"The players agree to the terms and conditions in the beginning before they even play. Even then we don't touch their memories."
Erina changed the subject, "So what do you think it is?"
The coworker shrugged, "Unless they get information from physical meeting, there is nothing we can do. For now I will keep a eye on them."
Erina nodded, "Do record any interesting events."
With that she walked back to her desk before she was interrupted again.
"Check this out!"
This time it was one of her helpers, they excitedly beckoned her over. After a quick glance at her computer screen she walked over.

Tilia cut at the legs of the undead mounts. She thought that if she could collapse one, a good chunk of undead would fall over their comrades.
So far her attempts bore no fruit, yet she remained determined.
"Who are you? Challenger who still stands." A voice boomed across the area.
The undead riders halted and moved their mounts out of the way. Tilia saw in the distance a large undead man riding a large undead horse and holding a guandao. This was Northan.
"We are here to take you down." Tilia answered."
Laughter spread amongst the undead before suddenly stopping at Northan's raised fist. He asked tauntingly, "How did you intend to do that? Your previous situation seemed a little rough."
More laughter before being stopped again. Tilia shrugged, "We would have seen eventually."
Northan spun his Guandao, "You have survived many attacks from my army. Therefor I shall personally end you."
With that he spurred his horse towards Tilia. As he reached the intended distance he swung his Guandao towards Tilia. She raised her shield to block the attack, yet was sent rolling through the dirt from the impact.
She recovered quickly and assessed the situation. The moment she was attacked her buffs had run out. A stroke of bad luck, she quickly rebuffed herself at the cost of a lot of MP when she alarmingly noticed something.
Northan wasn't running towards her, he was running towards Yielya! Tilia rushed towards to help, yet a defender wasn't known for their agility. She wouldn't make it in time.
Yielya noticed this and quickly used [Paralyze] on Northan. Only for a notification to appear.
<Opponent too high leveled, effect (Paralyze) failed.>
Yielya braced herself for the impact, if it didn't wipe out her HP in one hit she would be fine. Yet she didn't believe that would be the case.
The Guandao swung downwards and carved into Yielya sending her flying into the undead riders. With a loud crash a bundle of smoke appeared.
Tilia worryingly looked towards the crash, if Yielya died she was as good as defeated.
