Kapitel 4: Delivery of a Package

Thud-

Akiol awoke with a start, his hand reaching towards his sword. As his hand gripped air he frowned. A set of footsteps moved away at a steady pace and Akiol understood. This was an apartment complex, a building made of several smaller houses. The footsteps was a neighbor. With a small breath as a sigh he took this opportunity to wake up.

Moving to the kitchen he studied the various items within it. Strange foods he's never seen before but had knowledge about. Ingredients and seasonings. After some time weighing his newfound knowledge and what looked edible, he settled on a simple set of eggs.

Eggs weren't uncommon in his world. Granted they were always much larger and never of a single color. Holding up the frail white egg to the ceiling light he studied it. Eggs from his world were usually sour, due to the mana of the parent accelerating the growth of the creature within. Regardless they were an easy source of nutrition and were often a popular choice to consume on the road due to their ease of access.

It took Akiol a few moments to cross James' memories to be able to cook. Eventually working the stove to heat a pan. From the memories James' made them simple. Cover the pan in. . . butter yes that was it. Just a bit for a thin layer. Crack the egg and discard the shell. Akiol frowned for a moment, perhaps the shells weren't edible in this world. As for seasoning it should be salt. His world had salt, although they didn't share the same name. The substance from the oceans was used as a seasoning in his world as well. So with the hint of familiarity he used this exclusively as the seasoning.

Rapidly his cooking was completed and upon eating the eggs he was pleasantly surprised the taste. It was tasty and light compared to the sour and heavy eggs of his world. It was such a pleasant taste he created a handful of more until he was satisfied. It was a rare for him to have pleasant tasting meals in his world. This further reinforced his belief of this world being one of luxury.

Now filled with food he planned to work on his stamina, a needed improvement before he could work on reinforcing his body. Opening his door was met with some resistance and he had to push it in order to swing it open. There was a box blocking his way. On its side printed a logo. "Multimount Inc. VR Headset."

Picking it up he read the smaller text. A delivery form with James' address and of course addressed to James. Oddly enough it was this package that forced him to come to terms, "From today, I am James."

Bringing it inside he unpacked the box and took a look inside. It looked like a helmet, strange in shape and unwieldy in weight. Searching the box further revealed an instruction manual and a series of cords. Reading the instruction manual allowed the memory of this purchase to arise.

James had purchased a pre-order of this device. Having being sold during a tech demo of an upcoming revolutionary step in gaming. They boasted a realism unheard of and a depth too deep to comprehend. Purchase of this device came with their advertised game, "A World's Legacy".

A fantasy multiplayer RPG. With the ability to fully immerse oneself into the world and become a part of its world. Able to make significant and noticeable differences on different scales. All of these claims made it a popular topic and caused much debate.

Fantasy. . . in that case his world would fall under this fantasy category. Mythical creatures, magic, weapons and armor of the medieval era but exceptionally powerful. This. . . was his world wasn't it?

Something clicked in his mind, a thought that he didn't originally make appeared in his mind. Like the thought was always there: this could be a key! If his party members caught wind of this he was positive they would think similarly. In a world similar to their own it could possibly be easier to meet up. Surely the world within the game was smaller than the planet he was on.

Utilizing James' laptop to research A World's Legacy further, although he did stop for a moment to marvel at the incredible technology, he found that the game's foundations was strikingly similar to his own world. This further reinforced his idea and he decided to commit to it. There seemed to be a class system, the idea was interesting as his world didn't have such a name. It took only a bit more research to realize this was simply a different word for occupation.

Warrior, Sorcerer, Thief, Archer, Defender, Summoner, Pugilist, Berserker, and Priest. Their names were pretty standard, and their capabilities self explanatory. To choice for Akiol was an incredibly easy choice. Warrior, for it was a sword wielding class. Something he practiced for the entirety of his life.

Having now adjusted his plan he continued to train his stamina. A World's Legacy wasn't going to launch until two weeks later. Something about a proper window to ensure as many people can play day one. This was enough time for him to fully adjust to this world, and it was time he planned to spend wisely.

For the first time since entering this world Akiol stepped outside and went for a run.
