Religious class was the last class I had for the day. No yoga today. I dropped at the cafe looking around for David. I didn't spot him at class. We always seat together. I saw him seating at our usual corner and walked up to him.
"I didn't see you in class" I took the seat next to him.
"Yeah....I got stuck up at home" he said lowly. There was an off tone to his voice but I didn't want to push it. David always told me when something was wrong.
"Oh...alright. are you ok?"
He nodded and then stared at me. "Have you seen Scott today?" He surprise me by asking. I blinked. "Sorry....I just thought you guys were close"
"We're..... friends" I told him. David nodded.
"I haven't seen him today" I answered truthfully. We were supposed to hang out this evening but he hasn't even showed up. I haven't seen him since that night he saw me and David together. And that's two days ago.
"Oh..." David looked away and I had the urge to ask what happened so I did.
"Nothing" his eyes were wider than usual and I knew Something was really up. I didn't have time to press him further cause Adrianna sat next to me. A new friend I made at Yoga class. I was having trouble with some poses so she put me through.
"Hey girlfriend" she snickered.
"Hi, Anna"
She looked from me to David who wasn't even staring at her. "What's with all the bad energy going on around here?" Anna asked.
"What bad energy" I asked. David was still not looking at her.
"You guys look like someone died" she shrugged.
"Nothing like that. It's just bad coffee day" I smiled at her. She didn't seem to buy it but just nodded.
"I got to get to my last class now" she said and walked away after hugging me. Immediately she left, David looked at me.
"Is she your friend?" He frowned and I wanted to ask him what? I got so many questions right now.
"Yes"
"Just be careful of her" David said before getting up and walking away. I sat confused for a while before picking my bag and heading out. Of course my day isn't complete if I don't play around with flour, says Scott.
**********
I don't know why but I worked my ass off at the cafe. Rose kept telling me to take a break but I didn't listen. I was bent on serving the customers or pouring out my energy on mixing flours.
"He stood you up didn't he? Rose asked me. I'm standing by the counter refilling mugs for customers.
"Who?" I tried playing innocent.
"Scott." Rose sighed and took a bar stool. "You seem really over worked today" she was looking at me with so much pity, I rolled my eyes.
"He probably has something doing" I said. I remembered how David asked if I'd seen Scott. Something was probably up. I poured myself a glass of cappuccino, downed it and put the cup down.
"I don't care anyway" I stated bitterly. It's not like I'm going to loose an arm if I don't spend time with him.
"Is that so?" Rose smirked and looked at her. I followed her eyes to the door where Scott just came in. I glared at the time. Past six. How punctual. I picked up my tray of mugs.
"Storm" he grabbed my hand but gently so I don't tip everything on the tray over.
"I'm busy Scott" I told him. He kept following me around even helped to deliver the last coffee before he took my hand in his turning me to face him. That's when I noticed the little cut on his jaw. I gasped.
"What happened to you?" I questioned quickly. He just shrugged.
"Can we talk"
I wanted to refuse but looking at his jaw, I really want to know how that came to be. I followed him to the back of the cafe where he pinned me against the wall. I held my breath when he inched closer but he didn't kiss me. Instead , he placed his forehead on mine. I know he wants to kiss me anyway. He keeps staring at my lips..
"I'm sorry I'm late" was the first thing he said. All I did was nod. I have nothing to say to him. Not while he has me pressed against the wall and I can't think straight.
"Storm. Say Something" he urged. I just kept quiet and that made him anxious. He ran his hands through his hair for the seventh time tonight.
"What do you want me to say?"
"Anything. What's on your mind?"
"You could've let me know you weren't coming" I stated.
"But I came. I'm here now aren't I?" He placed his head on my shoulders. He has a point. He is here and I don't know the reason why he's late but what stayed him seemed important. So why be a whiny bitch about it?. I raised his head from my shoulder and stared at his jaw.
"What happened?" I asked running my finger through the cut. It didn't look deep, which was a good thing.
Scott wasn't ready to answer any of my questions and that made me furious.
"If you don't tell me what's going on, you can just go and leave me alone!" I threatened. Scott looked at me with wide eyes and shook his head.
"Fine. What do you want to know?" He asked me. I nodded in satisfaction. Now we're getting somewhere.
"How'd you get the cut?" I was still running my hands through it.
"I got into a fight" he said and I gasped. Was it David, is that why David missed class? "It's not David" Scott answers my thoughts. I sighed in relief, I won't want anything to jeopardize my friendship with David. He's a good guy.
"How do you know David" I asked him next.
"He's my cousin." was all he said. He brushed his fingers against my lower lip and it seemed to burn me up but in a good way. His touch was always like that.
"Why'd you get into a fight?" My voice was no longer challenging. Instead it was coming out breathy and shaking. Scott's lips was at my neck and his hot breath was fanning my neck. I know he's waiting for me to give him permission so I just wrapped my arms round his neck and pulled him to me. Our lips collided perfectly.
I don't know why we've waited a long time for this but this felt good. We've wanted each other right from the moment, I hit his Knishes down. And now, he's in my arms and I feel like I'm on fire. Like a thousand lanterns just lit up in me.
