Kapitel 35: Adam and Eve
'I knew it!'
'Eve?'
Adam and Lilith were both alarmed at Eve's statement. Adam was skeptical because the Eve he knew was supposed to be stuck in Tepatria.
On the other hand, Lilith knew about Adam and Eve since the beginning. She knew about Adam's partner in all of his lives. And same as Adam, she never thought that Eve would come back from another world.
"Say something!"
Eve felt awkward when her words were met with silence. Adam, Lilith, and everyone else did not speak a single word.
Adam now understood why the little girl was hugging him, not letting him move an inch.
'She missed me this much?'
His thoughts were cold but on his face was a wide grin. He may not admit it but he enjoyed Eve's company since long ago. Adam's arms slowly reciprocated Eve's embrace.
'I need to do something!'
Lilith panicked in her head. She saw Adam's action as confirmation. And she knew that once they establish the connection, she will not have a place within Adam's heart in this life.
"No!" Lilith screamed and stomped her foot.
Her loud voice echoed in everyone's mind. Due to her sudden action, Brian and Adam's parents realized that the current situation was a matter of the heart.
Tim and Jenny looked at each other and nodded. They knew beforehand that the two of these had affection for their son. The same goes for Brian.
"We'll leave you guys here. Sort things out amongst yourself."
Tim said and walked out of the room. Jenny soon followed.
"Have fun!" She winked as she said.
Brian stood awkwardly. He was an adult so he knew that he should not meddle in this type of thing.
"I'll be in my room should you need me."
He walked out the door and closed it behind him.
Clack!
After the sound of the door's latch resounded, the room was filled with silence. Lilith still had an angry look on her face while Eve was like a little dog defending her territory.
And Adam. He didn't feel awkward.
This was not the first time he encountered this situation. He was used to it, therefore he did not panic like most novel MCs.
"Eve. It might be best to let go of me for now."
Adam's words were cool. He said without stuttering and held Eve's hand to remove them from his body.
This action sparked a suspicion inside Eve's head.
'This isn't Adam?' Eve thought.
She mistakenly thought of Adam's calmness as a lukewarm reaction to her words earlier. After all, Adam did not directly say that he remembers her. So with that thought, she sullenly retracted her hands.
"I'm sorry." Eve said with a sunken head.
Lilith looked at Eve's look of resignation and was confused. She never thought Eve would give up so suddenly.
'Did her time in another world loosen her up?'

Adam patted Eve's head. She was the smallest person in the room as her current body was the youngest.
"It's alright. Let's clear things up first."
Adam said as he continued patting Eve's head.
After a few head pats, Adam walked towards his patient bed. On top of the bed was Talyn, uncaring about the drama that just happened earlier. He sat down on his bed and breathed deeply.
"Alright. Let me get this straight. Eve, are you really who you claim to be?" Adam asked with calmness in his voice.
"Yes. I am Eve from the bible's genesis. Forgive me for mistakingly thinking you were Adam."
Eve said as she bowed. Her joy from earlier was like an illusion as she was now a person that could illustrate depression.
Lilith thought that her apology was ridiculous. Eve was right on the mark but she suddenly apologized for her mistake.
'Still, I need to do something.' Lilith was still thinking of a way to persuade Adam to side with her.
"Pfft. Hahaha!" Adam's loud laughter echoed within the room. His marten, Talyn, jolted and moves from the bed due to his voice.
"What's so funny?" Eve asked with a pouting face.
"Ahah. Forgive me. Cough."
Adam stopped laughing and let out a fake cough. He collected his emotions and soon returned to being calm.
"Eve. It's me!" Adam said joyfully.
"How did you get back from Tepatria?" He continued.
Adam opened his arms to wait for Eve to hug him once again.
'WAIT! So he really is Adam!?!"
Eve stood in a daze. She could not believe her ears, her first life actually bore fruit and now she found a fresh Adam who has yet to marry.
She did not waste any time and went for the kill. She hugged him tightly and this time, she had a clear mind as she now confirmed that he really was the one.
They hugged each other passionately. It was a lovely scene but it was suffocating to someone else. So it had to stop.
"Ahum."
Lilith faked a cough to catch Adam and Eve's attention. She did not let them have their moment because once she lost the pace, she'll lose her place.
Adam knew about Lilith's dissatisfaction. He was aware of her affection because he already confronted her about it years ago.
So he let go of his hands that were embracing Eve. Eve looked at Adam with a confused gaze. She wondered why Adam let go of his hands and looked for the reason.
'Lilith is Adam's girlfriend already?'
That was what was in Eve's head. She did not like wrecking relationships. Especially if it's Adam's relationship with other people. So she withdrew her hands.
Lilith was satisfied with their actions.
'I still have a chance. I didn't lose my place.'
She nodded to herself before she started speaking.
"Adam. You remember the conversation we had 3 years ago?" Lilith said. She reminded Adam of their promise.
"You promised, Adam. That if I waited until we get older." Lilith said as a tear formed in her left eye.
"You said that we would-"
"You don't have to say anything more."
Adam stopped her words. He remembers the promise he made clearly. She did not need to remind him at all. Adam looked at Lilith straight into her eyes.
"Don't worry. I don't plan to go back on my promise." He reassured Lilith.
Lilith heaved a sigh of relief. She felt great that Adam wouldn't betray her. She only panicked because of Eve's sudden declaration but now she was assured. On the other hand, Eve panicked as she thought she lost all hope.
"However."
Adam continued speaking.
"There is a matter we need to discuss. Together with Eve."
His last words made Lilith worry once again. Eve's eyes opened widely and she waited in anticipation for his next statement.
"Eve. I am sorry. I already promised Lilith. But don't worry, it is only for this life."
Adam explained, his words implicated that Lilith knew about their past and the way their lives worked.
"Oh. And did you tell her?" Eve asked with a slumped shoulder. Her voice was meek and her face had dejection written all over.
"Yes."
Eve fell into resignation. Adam's words implied that even though Lilith knew that Adam had Eve as a star-crossed partner, she was still willing to wait for Adam.
That could only mean the Lilith truly loved Adam.
'But why is she madly in love with Adam?'
Eve had that in her mind but that could never be answered by anyone but Lilith herself.
"I told her about us." Adam continued speaking.
"I told her about how we live our lives."
"And I told her about your situation in another world."
Adam basically told Lilith everything. It was a form of assurance that he will keep his promise. Adam decided to entrust Lilith to their biggest secret.
"I understand." Eve resigned to her fate.
She wanted to have Adam all to herself but she already gained more than she ever hoped to gain in her first life. Eve felt cheated but in the end, she was winning according to her predictions.
'Wait.'
Eve stopped her thoughts.
'Wait a minute.'
She realized something from Adam and Lilith's words.
'The promise was to be fulfilled years from now, right?'
She displayed a devilish smile but kept her thoughts to herself.
'Then that means I can be Adam's girlfriend until that time?'
She creepily laughed softly. She snickered silently but the grin on her face was evident.
Seeing her nasty smile, Lilith sensed a tingling feeling. Her intuition as a woman told her that Eve was planning something.
'She did not give up yet?' Lilith thought.
She eyed Eve closely, but because of that, Eve noticed Lilith's gaze. Eve regained her composure within a matter of seconds. Her eyes that had a sinister gaze became sheepish in an instant.
"Alright! I don't think there is nothing more we should talk about. So for now, let me rest." Adam said calmly.
In truth, Adam's heart was pounding hard. This was the first time he ever told anyone their secret so he thought that Eve would not take this lying down.
"So. Please, vacate the room and let the patient rest. Thank you."
Eve and Lilith were forced outside the room before it closed.

Adam locked the room.
Both Eve and Lilith stood in a daze. They were dumbfounded because Adam suddenly pushed them outside. They both looked at each other had thoughts of their own.
'I have to remain vigilant.'
'How do I make Adam break that promise?'
They were being civil.
