Once they all made it outside the building, they all felt the cold wind slapping their faces. It was still raining but it has calmed down to a drizzle instead. A fast wind for a hurricane also meant that the storm was moving fast. The skies were clear on this brand new day.
Almost everyone had a problem with the sudden change in weather. Although there were people who stayed within their very sturdy homes, more people lost their houses instead. And as much as the houses were brought down, rather, rooted up, there were plenty more people who died due to the tragic events.
In other countries, where the other of the four winds reside, the devastation was equal or greater. However, the winds weren't the only evil that was brought upon the world. There were earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and even tsunamis. The sinkholes around weren't natural either.
Back to the party's situation. The subway wasn't that far from the building that served as their shelter. There were people out and about, most of them looked very ragged and were scrapping things from the rubble.
Adam, who had an albino marten in hand, was observing the people who were struggling.
"Dad. Did they also lose their homes?" Adam asked innocently.
"I don't know son. But they do look as miserable as us." Tim replied.
It was a scene straight out of a movie. The misery of the people who lost their homes were depressing to look at, especially when your own house was also destroyed.
"Sir. Do you have extra food?"
"Hey man, we barely have any left for ourselves."
"Did anyone see a child? About yay tall and wearing a blue shirt?"
"He's probably dead already."
"Dude, I found this, so it's mine now."
"That's not how it works at all!"
Those were the kind of conversations you hear along the streets. There was no order anywhere you look. Some of these people were desperate enough to fight for food. It was a good decision for Tim to keep watch during the whole night. If not, then perhaps they would no longer have provisions to keep themselves fed.
The ruins of the supermarkets were filled with people who were looting scraps. There were even people who were wearing corresponding employee uniforms joining the looting. The entire country has gone to ruin.
There were reasons for the mass panic. Once long distance communication no longer worked due to synchronization reasons, banks no longer operated, the ole reliable internet stopped working as well. The lack of communication turned the great civilization of countries to nothing more than a community of violent monkeys.
Tim and his party did not even bother to get near the commotion. Doing so would only give them trouble and they have enough provisions for a week(in new day rotation). Bringing any more would hinder their movement speed even though they weigh a lot less than before.
Once they made it past the crowded area, they walked at a steady pace with no distractions.
"They sure were a rowdy bunch huh." Jenny said.
It was ironic when even Jenny herself became hysterical at the sight of Adam hurt.
"That's not a good sign at all. If what Ivan said was true, then there is no hope for those people who are scrambling about and worrying about what to eat." Tim said.
"Some of them aren't even looking at food, but cosmetics. Shoes, shirts and even a flat screen tv." He continued.
It was a very sad sight but it wasn't any of their business. They have to ensure their survival first before they care about helping others.
Upon making it near the subway entrance, the road was blocked by a lot of rubble. They could try to get over the obstruction but injuries were to be expected.
"Wait. Only 1 of us has to get inside to take a picture of the maps." Tim explained.
"I can go alone, Jenny, you take Adam and stay here." He continued as he gave Adam who was still covered in his jacket.
Meanwhile, Brian, who was wearing nothing but a loincloth, volunteered to join Tim in his venture.
Can I join you, Mister?" Brian asked with a very young voice.
To this question, Tim just laughed and walked away. He didn't even consider such a young child going with him towards a place that could perhaps be breaking down at this very moment.
'It's dangerous. Just stay there kid.' He explained to himself in his mind.
However, Brian wasn't having any of it. He only waited for Tim to get further before he would follow him. Jenny was focused on taking care of Adam and Adam himself was playing with the marten who was slowly getting attached to Adam.
On the other hand, Ivan was busy explaining things to his wife. No one else in the party could tell what they were talking about but they were guessing he was telling her the general direction of their actions.
It was very easy for Brian to sneak away.
'Plain and simple.' Brian thought.
However, he also realized how sad it was that no one really cared for him. But that was only to be expected as he wasn't from this world nor was he with people that knew him.
'Tepatria is a lot better than this place.' He was comparing his original world to Earth.
He shook his head. He knew that the things happening right now were out of the ordinary. He was still unaware of the visions since he was unconscious anyways.
'There he is!'
Brian found Tim climbing over debris. Tim wasn't really having a hard time but he was still going slowly. Tim was being careful to not trigger anything that could perhaps lead to more destruction as the foundations of the structures were now questionably weak.
Tim then found himself unable to move forward unless he moved some of the obstructions himself.
"Heave-Ho!" Tim said as he lifted a wooden plank.
He cleared out the rest of the rubble and then continued his journey towards the entrance. He somewhat knew the general direction of the entrance since Ivan told him very accurate directions.
'It should be right around this corner.' He thought as he walked.
"Ah. There it is!" He thought aloud.
"Nuts." He continued.
He found the entrance, however the entrance itself was broken. The cement broke down and blocked the passage. Getting inside through this entrance is impossible without breaking more of the entrance, but what can one man do?
There were hardly any people around him as well. The area is deserted as this certain area had pretty tall buildings that broke down. Looking closely, you could even find dead bodies trapped within the wreckages.
"Looks like I'll just have to dig a very small hole to crawl into huh."
So Tim started digging his way through by moving rocks. He started from the top since the rocks from the bottom were weighed down by the ones from the top. He had an easy time picking boulders even, since everything in the world weighed much less than original due to the increase in rotational speed of the Earth.
After dozens of minutes, he finally made a hole that was enough for him to crawl into.
'Alright. Let's head inside.
Once he was inside, Brian who was observing him also went inside a few moments after him. What showed up in their vision was a very dark and dreary place. It was also very dusty. At this moment, you could even see small pebbles falling from the ceiling.
Upon seeing the inside, Tim removed his shirt. He covered his mouth, nose, and hair with it and tied the sleeves together. His eyes were sticking out of the collar and he looked like a ninja wanna-be but was not wearing a shirt.
However, behind Tim was Brian who did not have any shirt to use as a mask felt conflicted. But upon remembering that there was no one else in the vicinity, he used his magic.
"Repel." He said in a very low voice.
After he said that, a very pale shield surrounded him. It was blocking the dust from all around him. Magic sure is convenient for our transmigrator. He would have used temperature magic for himself last night, however there were plenty of people around him.
It wouldn't be a problem for him to be found out using magic. Nevertheless, he found it to be a major secret to use magic. He saw that the people residing in this world didn't have any trace of mana in their bodies at all.
There was an exception to this observation though. In his first meeting with Adam, he found that Adam did indeed not have any mana in his body. However, after he got knocked unconscious by Adam, he found that Adam's body suddenly had a lot of mana in it. Pure untouched mana that even he himself got jealous of.
Tim continued his journey. He was having a hard time looking for the map since the place was very dark.
'Wait a minute. I have a flashlight.' Tim did a facepalm.
He had a very small flashlight, however it was a very bright one. It wasn't your standard flashlight but the variant the military distributes to soldiers. When the place suddenly became as bright as day as he turned it on.
Screech~
"What in the hell?" Tim saw something that should never exist.
"Reeeeee!" A creature rushed towards Tim.
The creature Tim saw was a humanoid who had pale skin and had a very short stature. It was hunchbacked and had long ears. It's eyes were sunken deep within its sockets and it walked using all fours.
The creature jumped at Tim. Tim suddenly was put in an awkward position as he was pushed back by the creature. Tim fell on his back and the creature didn't let him go, plunging on him. The creature used all of its strength to try and scratch Tim but Tim evaded by slightly shifting his head.
Due to missing with full force, the creature rolled forward and had a hard time repositioning itself. By the time it got up on its feet -
Smack~
It got kicked by Tim straight to the head. The creature had a concussion and was groggy, it was swaying left and right. Tim didn't forgive the creature for suddenly attacking him either so he continued his assault.
He continued kicking the creature until it fell off its feet. Once it was down on the ground, Tim ran to his head and kicked it at full force.
Wham~
This time, the creature was knocked unconscious.
'Don't forget the double tap.' Tim reminded himself that enemies could be playing dead.
He held the both hands of the creature, carried it and slammed it onto a wall.
Bang~
That was a mistake, though it was a proper assessment to make sure about one's safety. The place was already breaking down and their fight from earlier made things really unstable. The slam became a final nail in the coffin that made the ceiling suddenly collapse on top of Tim.
Tim felt his world slowing down to a still. It was bullet time for those that are about to experience death themselves. However, even though he was aware of his current situation, there was little he could do. He could not move away in time.
"Fuck."
That was the only thing he could do. Swear out profanities at the end of his life. Luckily enough, a certain boy didn't listen to his words at all.
"Protective Shell!"
Magic was cast.
